I passed on the new Q3 and went for a used Q2M and haven't looked back thanks to you. It has given me so much joy and made me a much better photographer in the end. I could not afford the M series and with also buying a lens, the cost is way out of site and who stops with one lens? I find that Alan Schaller said it best, Liberation through Limitations. It makes you slow down, think, and compose your images. I have been amazed by the images this little camera has produced. In the end, it is the best monochrome margin on the market. Thanks for your inspiration.

Are you People brain dead - how can anyone consider these awful ultra contrasty pics good - they are a disgrace! I got Leicas - but I can take better pictures on my old cheap Ricoh gr Digital 11 megapixel! - totally awful!!

When I became a bloody young 'photographer', there was nothing but monochrome, and the prints were not anywhere near 'black&white' but 'chamois', more or less brownish-grey. Not until ten years later, about 1965, I enjoyed a darkroom equipment of my own and was able to produce real black&white prints. Finally, the job at an advertising agency called for colour, namely colour slides, no colour prints from a photographic negative. But my private photography remained mostly black&white at a ratio of 10/1 concerning analogue film. Now I'm contemplating the Pentax K-3 III Monochrome (I don't like mirrorless).

Interesting video. Of all my camera's I really like the flip into Black & White of my Leica Q-P, the detail is just so much better compared to my various Fuji cameras and my Lumix GX80 which I rate for it's black & white and colour above some of their later camera's. The Leica is also just such a simple camera to use.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! This is the same kind of photography what I do , mostly colors but I don't show on the SM because I will never ever reach the level of Paolinelli's photography. My recommendation is a bw portrait photographer, Lee Jeffries. Thanks

Thank you Paul for introducing Nathaniel’s extraordinary images to us. I agree with your assessment that many of his images look as though they were taken as a still image from a movie set! Like you, these images truly inspire me to achieve a higher level in my own photography! His use of lighting & subject matter draw your attention to his work. Best wishes for your channel.😊

I totally get your, "Oh, but look at the competition" jitters but that's exactly why yours stands out. Unplanned, crazy light but the result ? Wow. That'll be a top 10 image for years to come and not just for you. Outstanding work.

I hope when I have the money next year they announce a Q3 monochrome. If not I’ll just get a Q3 28 or 43. It will be my first and I can’t wait. You’ve been a big inspiration for me wanting to only shoot B&W.

The guy does great work but the places, people & events he chooses to photograph, takes him more than 50% of the way to the end result. I imagine there is technique to post processing B & W photographs & if I did work like this, would probably be drooling as the photos exited my printer! Great vid.

The minute you start turning photography into a task you lose it’s Zen quality, the spontaneity of something seen and captured. I know the feeling of a day with the camera when nothing stirs me from within, it’s quite discouraging and I remind myself the well never runs dry, there will always be another day to tap into the Tao/Zen/Flow of things and the photos come on their own.

@@wilfredobenitez7275 very true mate!! It’s a constant battle for me to just go with the flow
@wilfredobenitez727511 күн бұрын
I can relate. When it becomes a battle and you feel that frustration coming on it’s a good time to breathe a nice deep breath through the nose, and slowly let it out through the mouth with your lips as if you were whistling. It helps to bring us back to center and turn off the mindless chatter. Photography moves me into a contemplative space even when shooting in the street. What a gift to enjoy, and Paul, what beautiful images you have generated. I love the sincerity of your photography!

It’s been about a month of deciding to buy the Q2M it came a couple of hours ago, used one, I played with it for while it’s now on charge as I want a fully charged battery before I introduce it to the world, I know this is going to be inspiring, for many years I was a TriX user before digital and I know the images with the Q2M are going to give me as much satisfaction, my local town had a big music festival this weekend perfect for using it.

It is about the photographer and his skills. Sensors do not have colors. They have electric charges.

So he takes one year to learn his camera. I bet he has spent some time to get the shadows and the highlights where he wants them. He is a master of his art.

Paul, is was a great video! I was also immediately drawn to the same portrait of George and of the lady in the street! It’s amazing how some photos just capture you and hold you spellbound. I did want to ask you how you metered those portraits of George. What techniques did you use? I’m assuming all those portraits were shot with available light? Thank you!
@Sanjiocom12 күн бұрын
Dude, your pics are amazing. What an incredible eye. Irrespective of the camera you use. All that said, I’d love to know how you process the pics, are these straight of camera or tweaked in silver efex/lightroom etc? Whatever the process, keep shooting as your way of framing joyful moments is second to none.
