Beautiful card..... thank you for sharing !! When you do your lino printing, what kind of paint are you using: watercolor? acrylic? acrylic ink? TIA
@OhSewMindfulАй бұрын
Hello Susan! Thank you for watching. I used acrylic paint in this instance, but I've also used water based printing inks before. It's been a while since I did any lino printing and would like to get back to exploring it again, one day! ☺
@SusanMJB45Ай бұрын
@@OhSewMindful Did you prefer acrylic paint (heavy body or fluid) or water based printing inks? And did you use a fabric medium with the acrylic paints? I was doing some research about painting on fabric and came across Golden's GAC 900 which is their fabric medium. Apparently, it makes the paint adhere to the fabric better. However, with that said, since I almost always make wall hangings with my slow stitch projects, I am not sure the fabric medium is necessary. I would really appreciate if you could make a short video about your process with lino printing on fabric. Just the basics. What you use for fabric. What you use for paint or ink and the basic process. I absolutely love your leaf lino printed fabric in your neutral and golden yellow wall hanging that you did a 2-part video on a while ago. That is the kind of lino printing that I'm interested in doing, but need some basic instructions. Please consider a video on that? Pretty please? 🙂
@OhSewMindfulАй бұрын
@@SusanMJB45 No preference really on either. I just went for the colour I wanted, and that happened to be one of the basic craft acrylic paints. I didn't use a fabric medium, and never have. I usually just press the fabric, once dry, to set it. The items I create aren't intended to be washed anyway. I have seen others using Golden's fabric medium. As far as a video on my lino printing process, I will see what I can do. I will add it to my never ending list! 😆

Beautiful piece! I am also trying to make a wall hanging but I'm finding the fibres from the wadding are coming up to the front of my quilt when I stitch. I've read online it's called bearding and they say turn the batting over or change needles. Tried both but nothing works. I'm in UK and have problems with Sew Easy brand of quilt batting so not cheap! What batting/wadding do you use? I'm at my wits end! Thank you x
@OhSewMindfulАй бұрын
Hello Alison, thank you. I use something called "bump". If you're in the UK and have a Boyes store near to where you live, they sell it there. That's where I get mine, but I'm not sure where else you could get it, I'm afraid. I have found that the odd fibre still comes through, but personally, I haven't found it to be too much of a problem. I do hope that helps! Let me know how you get on ☺

@@alisonbunce159 You're very welcome. Although I'd say that it's more of a woven interlining more than a wadding as it's a lot thinner, but I like it and it gives me the quilted look I need. I've also had a look online and it's available there if you'd like to take a look for more info☺

I have however managed to find what looks to me to be the same kind, online; here is the link: www.williamgee.co.uk/shop/bump-curtain-interfacing/?cgkit_search_word=bump However, I have never used this company myself, so I am not able to recommend them (just a little disclaimer there ☺). I have been meaning to post this for a while, so here goes 🙂 I am so grateful for the time and effort that you put into making your videos - the quality is excellent and I enjoy both the ones where you are speaking (your voice is so soothing) and the ones that have a music background. Most of all, I love your choices of colors and I am mesmerized by watching you go through your entire process. Every movement that you make is zen...... from choosing and placing your fabric collage pieces to threading the needle to the actual slow stitching. I know that you do not post videos frequently, but I appreciate and am grateful for each and every one of them. Thank you. I need zen in my life and you provide that.... always. A question while I'm here: I want to try painting some fabric with watercolor paint...... your painted fabrics are so lovely. What fabrics have you found to work the best - thin cotton, quilting cotton, linen, ????
@OhSewMindfulАй бұрын
Firstly, can I just say, thank you so very much. I can't tell you how much it means to read such a wonderful comment. You have completely made my day; my week! You obviously realise how much goes into creating videos, and although I love making them, they do take so much time to put together! And for a techy novice like myself, it takes even longer! 😆So yes, I don't upload as often as I'd like, but I'm hoping to change that, and upload a little more often. We all definitely need zen in our lives at the moment; so if I can provide a little of that then all the better! As far as fabrics for painting, I find cotton, and poly cotton work well, but it's just a case of experimenting and trying little samples of whatever you have to hand. It's great fun seeing how different fabrics react with paints. Acrylic paints are good to use too. I hope this helps! Whatever you use, have fun! Thank you, once again for taking the time to comment. It really does mean the world! 🥰🥰🥰

@@OhSewMindful You are most welcome !! No pressure to post more often - just when you can. I am going to try using Inktense blocks for painting fabric. And I'll try watercolor paint and some fountain pen inks and some acrylic inks and india inks. It will be fun !! But I love the subdued colors that you achieve with your painted fabrics. They make for beautiful subdued color palettes in your textile art.
