Brilliant video! Do you think this can be scaled up? I need to triple the Co2 of a 30sqm room to around 1200ppm Is this process cheaper than running a propane generator or a big cylinder? Thinking about using a big old propane tank and fitting an opening and regulator valve and connectjng a solonoid valve to a light sensor. It's for plants

For aquariums with high KH, what should be done? I am adding CO2, but it takes 5 hours for the drop checker to turn green, and 12 hours to turn blue again. I don't think this is normal. Can you comment this?
@itech3014 күн бұрын
What dKh are you reading? You will want to maintain around 4-6. Some KH is required to help prevent pH swings. The KH of your water doesn't directly impact the CO2 levels, just the pH level of the aquarium water. Disolving CO2 in water creates carbonic acid which lowers pH. Is your drop checker solution good/fresh? The bottom line is drop checker measures CO2 independent of the pH/kH of the water in your tank.

Great video. I just did the math, and I'd need to buy citric acid and bicarb in industrial quantities (literally _hundreds_ of pounds of each) for the price to even start competing with a 5L C02 refill from a local brewers' supply shop. Since one needs to buy the regulator and other mcguffins _anyway_ , it doesn't make financial sense to go the bicarb reactor route. Quite apart from the fact that you have to measure and refill and dispose of the sodium citrate byproduct that just sounds like a complete pita compared to unscrewing and replacing a C02 cannister.

You won't damage tank with use great answer that this guy gave you it will just protect you to waste ingredients 1 to 1.3 mean just use 200g one igredient and 140g-150g of other one it will make bit less co2 or the same amount without waste 😊 use it guy was very good at chem so why waste 2£ when you can pay only 1.5£😂

Should talk about Sodastream canisters or replicas. Small size, 425grams of CO2, refill available in any supermarket.
@LilMissMurder3409Ай бұрын
Not even remotely cost effective. You can buy a 5L C02 refill from a brewer's supply shop for the price of a 400g sodastream refill.

Is the Superfish Pro 50 shorter than the Oase 50w heater?
@b.d.42292 күн бұрын
Just looking at the specs, the Oase is 1-3/8 inch longer. I can't find a drawing of the specs so I have no clue if this includes the head that sticks up and above the plastic adapter. If i can find one locally, my plan is to try the Oase (assuming the math, maths) Seems pointless to try another brand when Oase makes one the specifically fits the adapter. Maybe to save money?.....
@b.d.42292 күн бұрын
yeah it doesn't work haha. the Oase is about 2 inches too long. I just measured my oase 150w and the specs say its 12 inches long... and it is 12 inches if you measure the body as well. 10 inches actually sticks out after the case adapter. Assuming this is the same case for the 25 and 50w heaters, (which have the same specs as each other except wattage) It just wont fit. Looks like it misses by about 3/4 inch unfortunately

3:45 Actually there is a simple trick ^^ Option 1 : Just open the bottle at night, but only enough to release the pressure, this way the air won't enter the bottle since the pressure inside it is still higher than the outside, the same way you slowly open a bottle of coca cola, then the next day you close the bottle. Option 2 : If you do no want to touch the bottle you can add another hole in the bottle cap with a short tube, during the day you close this second tube with a clothes peg, at night you remove the peg, as the tube is tiny and as the CO2 will take it's route first at night (as the pressure underwater is higher) the air won't go in the bottle. Option 3 : If using a peg is still to annoying you can use a mouse trap that you stuck with glue to the aquarium to be sure the wooden part won't move, you just need the spring, then you put the second tube inside it, you make a corner in your tube and then you compress it in the mouse trap, this way you can open/close the tube when you pull or push it (which fix the corner in position, so the CO2 can't take this route during the day). Option 4 : If you have an auto-timer for your light that is rotative you can use it to pull/push the system, as the system rotate you can attach some sticks on it, the first one will rotate and push the tube, you just need to add an handful on the tube that will move inside the mousetrap, than to pull it back later you use a swing-lever on the system, half of the time it will push, half of the time it will pull. If your auto-timer isn't strong enough you can reduce the force of the mousetrap and use a longer second tube, this way the force necessary to move it will be weaker. Of course it requires some engineering. Option 5 : As you are using a bottle and as this bottle produce CO2 and pressure you can use this force to automize your own system, I'm currently working on it. The idea is when you close the system the bottle swells, so it would be possible to put a relief valve around the bottle and use the fact the bottle swells to trigger the valve, this way you could just block the main CO2 tube at night and the bottle wouldn't explode, I calculated that the pressure inside the bottle of 1L water will chimicaly produce 6 bars in 12 hours, wich is too much for most bottles. Of course you could just add a valve a block the main tube, but I'm trying to find solution that doesn't require anything. I'm also working on a system with a baloon that could keep the CO2 of the night, to reuse it during the day, which could double the duration of the yeast system. I'm also thinking about a light solution, with a system that would release CO2 only when a certain amount of light is in the tank, some plants can change their shape with light, so a system could use this natural ability to trigger the system.

Hello, will a tall tank hold more dissolved co2 than a shallow tank? I've been considering a plant quarantine/grow-out tank with co2 injection. A shallow tank would save space and provide more light but I wandered if co2 would diffuse out of a shallow tank faster than a taller one? Thanks For Your Time: Shawn

what pressure should you be aiming for? i guess 0 on the gauge means no feedback pressure but might not provide air to the tanks as the water (at higher depths) provides higher resistance than the bleed valve.
