One thing not considered here is the extend that politicians go to protect real estate price growth. In Australia, for instance, prime minister Anthony Albanese deliberately floods country with unlimited migrants (over a million migrants in past year) while ensuring the costs to build remain high with extremely inflationary fiscal policies. Hideous outcome of this is unprecedented widespread homelessness and poverty we have never seen before in this country.

Publicly owned is ever worse. Trust me on this, the gov won't do better and has been proven. Privatization is still better.

European Governments have priced people out of a survival existence. Instead of solving the problem they just import people from poorer nations.

Regret? Is that a joke? The behaviour of the EU and the fact that most of Europe is drifting away from the pro EU leftist technocrats is even more evidence that the UK made the right choice. The implementation however has been a mess.

With the higher proportion of society getting older, there should be an equalising effect, at some point in the future , if the population level decreased.

Beautiful video but you can question everything shown in it by a very a simple question: is it the countries intention and plan to enable everyone who has an average income to also (immediately) be able to have their own house? This is the actual question that should be addressed. In the UK, new high density housing areas need to be created. This is a fact.

Could we not just means test pensions at a minimum? Seems silly to means test everything else but if there's a pensioner with a massive pension, they're still able to draw it out. We wouldn't give a millionaire jobs seekers so why would we give them a pension?

Don't try to join EU again! EU is on it's way down in hell now! The Brussell bullies are dragging Europe down in a hole. The war in Ukraine and globalist will be the end of this bloody mess. Independence is the only way to go, just take a look at Norway. Richer than most!

Not many people really thought this out..With only a 37% turnout is it possible to have a 2nd Referendum?..problem with rejoining is we’d have to go in fully including the single currency..l can’t see that happening for a long time..

Not over unfortunately. Inflation will always see houses (along with every other item in the world go up in price). There’ll be another asset boom by 2030. The super wealthy will always buy assets and there aren’t enough to go round. That doesn’t help us working class though as we’ll still need somewhere to live if we sell. There’s a housing shortage and it won’t be caught up for decades if ever.

Compare house prices to gold over a 100 year period and you will see that house prices haven’t risen at. The truth is that paper money aka government fiat currency has fallen and has no value

EU did not win... the UK quit the game. And the best part is the fact it was nakedly obviois Brexit was not supposed to win. When it passed, its main supporters all quit and started making plans to protect themselves. And the only reason anything was done treaty wise was EU members starting to toss out the 'expats'.

The fact that there is already an excessive amount of demand awaiting its absorption, despite how everyone is frightened and calling the crash, is another reason why it is less likely to occur that way. 2008 saw no one, at least not the broad public, making this forecast, as I'll explain below. The ownership rate was noted to have peaked in 2004 in the other comment. Having previously peaked in the second quarter of 2020, we are currently at the median level. Between 2008 and 2012, it dropped by 3%, and by the second quarter of 2020, it had dropped from 68 to 65.

You're not doing anything wrong; the problem is that you don't have the knowledge needed to succeed in a challenging market. Only highly qualified professionals who had to experience the 2008 financial crisis could hope to earn a high salary in these challenging conditions.

Today's surge in ultra long mortgages is fast becoming the norm and to the extent, that payback is more and more extending well into retirement. The cause of this is a simple catch22 - sickeningly high house prices, still rising, because there is more and more money handed out in those mortgages. Why? because in order to meet those insane asking prices lenders have gladly... 1) Significantly increased mortgage salary multipliers, and... 2) Significantly increased payback terms No longer does 21 years at 2.5 x your salary give you enough money to buy a house. --> THIS IS EXACTLY WHY the UK housing and rental market is COMPLETELY destroyed !!! --> The ONLY way to reduce house prices is to increase interest rates...once you make these ultra high mortgages unaffordable to the majority, you can rest assure that the majority of sellers will reduce prices. Unfortunately, the BOE won't do this effectively, and certainly not for a long enough time as to be effective. What to do ???

My paternal and maternal great-grandparents were Italian and Portuguese who came to Brazil, I'm white, but neither Italy nor Portugal want me in their country. It's no use, they see us as animals because we were born on another continent, no matter their appearance or cultural similarity... They prefer immigrants from Africa and the Middle East... That's the truth! make it difficult for us to get a visa and make it easier for others. The process to obtain citizenship is expensive and time-consuming. If Italy gave me back the nationality of my great-grandparents I would learn Italian with pleasure, I would live there and have 10 Catholic children, but they prefer to give nationality to people from the Middle East and Africa...
