I’m so glad I found this! I have a stretchy sofa cover thats a few years old and works great but I’m tired of the color and had been planning to try to remove the color and dye it, but it’s polyester so I have doubts that I’ll be able to fully remove the color and get the color I want. But drop cloth can be dyed!!!! I’m gonna do this!!!!

You did a great job! Especially when it seems to be your first upholstered chair adventure. An electric staple gun would have helped you immensely. Yes, I think you should add the trim to the bottom of the seat.

Thank you! 💯 would need an electric staple gun if I was upholstering a lot! My little wrist were tired haha

Are your measurements with the 24” added or before you added the 24”? My measurements are 160x98 which is close to yours so just wondering if I can go with the 9x12 as well. Thanks! ❤
@stephyoungren2 сағат бұрын
Hi! Sorry for the late reply. My measurements are the overall so it includes the 24”. I think the 9x12 would be great for your sofa. Hope that helps!

I wonder if the drop cloth can be bleached out even lighter for a white look instead of beige without hurting the canvas? Just thinking for my style. You did a phenomenal job. 👍

Sorry you found it confusing! You just need to measure the linear length from left to right, and front to back.

It’s been so long I can’t remember exactly but it was acrylic craft paint, nothing fancy. Any dark brown will do!

so random but do you have suggests for how to hide a litter box in a nyc apt? :o
@stephyoungren2 ай бұрын
I would try to hide it with a table skirt or cafe curtain somehow with a slit for access. If you have a console table already your can put it under that and add a table cloth. If not, then you can get a small table and put a cloth over or hide it under your bathroom sink and put a curtain around the vanity… depends on your situation but def would consider some type of curtain to hide it.

You think this could work on leather?
@stephyoungren3 ай бұрын
No do not use on leather. It will puncture the material and create holes.

Easier than it looks. I have used IKEA rings & hardware for years because it’s super easy to open & close, not to mention, hang. Pinch pleats are a whole new level & look. My biggest problem with IKEA curtains are the length.

For the spots that are missing the plaster overlay, I have taken some children's playdough and moulded a piece of the frame that had the trim, then pouring plaster of paris in that, then glueing it onto the frame.

Ive also been making white cotton damask removeable covers for my sofas since 1992. When someone sits one your sofa it will all come undone. Luckily its a pale neutral colour and you could simply cover the seat with a white throw, tucked under the back cushions. Then another throw along the back of the sofa, white or faux fur. It would be much easier for you and look the same 😊 🌺🇬🇧
@stephyoungren4 ай бұрын
The upholstery pins keep it in place so it didn’t come undone after I added those!
