Most of the so-called “by catch” is put back dead - absolutely wasteful and damaging form of commercial fishing

Scraping the seabed of every living thing, killing most of it to keep 10% and that's crap anyway. What a waste of marine life dying on deck for nothing.

Such a sad, cruel and flawed industry. Top to bottom its all taking and no giving. Best thing fishermen can do for the world is to stop fishing

Hats off to you Sir. But what a shame that most of the fish has to go abroad. I have lived in New Zealand for the last 20 years, and cannot get Skate for love nor money. However, we do get Stargazer (Monkfish) over here and it is pretty cheap compared to the UK.

I grew up sailing on the Colne. Was born at the Martello Tower @ St Osyth Stone . After leaving the Royal Navy I worked dredging oysters for the Pyefleet Oyster Company and emigrated to Australia In 1972. I have never found the time to return so your beautiful photography is very special to me. Thankyou for posting here. Regards, Nick Viner.

Great video I used to work on a boat called “ The Boy Gordon” on Aberdeen inshore fishing went out 12 or so miles heading east and as far south as Stonehaven and up North as far as Peterhead ,got on board at 6 and worked till well when we got done and I only ever worked her and the skipper was legit and the pay was fair enough. Good times on that wee boat 🏴🫡

My grandmother and her family made the 2X year trek from Pleasa to Almyros. 620 to 670 miles each way, depending on the route. Well into her 80s she could walk miles and miles in Queens New York just to hit a variety of grocery and specialty stores. Great film.

TOO MUCH WASTE OF UNUSED FISHES. THIER METHOD OF FISHING IS SOMEWHAT CRUDE. THEY TO HAVE A SYSTEM THAT FILTERS OUT UNWANTED FISH. JUST LIKE THE BIG GUYS DO! THEY DON’T SEEM TO. HAVE A CONCERN ABOUT WHAT THEY DON’T WANT!
