What a cracking video, so sad to know that the works is gone. I used to work many years ago at the Blue Circle works at Hope on the packing plant. Fascinating to see the virtual automated bagging at this plant compared to the old labour intensive method we used.

I remember later on when I visited with a school trip (circa 2005) the train had been removed in favour of a couple trucks that shuttled from the train. I also remember riding on the locomotive in this video during an open day (circa 2001).

It’s weird to see how some parts of the site have remained the same and how some have disappeared. Would have be brilliant to see the whole Kiln. Great video.

My grandfather used to work here. His name was Fred Jude. I have his middle name Howard. My dad was my grandfather used to work at that cement work. His name is Fred Jude
