That guy in black tshirt & shades sounds like me but a with more plates & pins.I came off on back country road hitting gravel on bend over crest of hill & hit a concrete fence post & broke both ankles,3fingers,3ribs,punctured alung broke my back died 3 times & survived to ride another day & that day was 7months after I hobbled out to bike swung a leg over & been riding ever since.Got pins & plates in both ankles & left ankle muntered broke my T3,T6,T7 in back & had to get carbon fiber helmet cause Fiberglass helmet hurting my upper back after 40mins & Carbonfiber helmet get about 90mins then have rest for 20mins & carry on.Can't ride cruisers anymore cause all the compression goes through spine over bumps as on upright riding position bike my legs beneath me & can brace over bumps potholes & stand up at lower spends for stretch. The most I done in day was 400km but was stuffed & couldn't ride next day & neededa big sleep in & whole day off bike to recover. On multiple day rides 300-350km max & stuffed need early night & a long sleep. The 6-700km days are over.I can't even stand for 20mins unless got walking stick but as long as I'm seated I'm ok.Bike jacket, helmet gets heavy & back gets saw & left ankle & right hip play up.I wasgiving up so I learnt to adapt take anti cramp pills 💊 in morning along with Panadol,Ibuprofen & Celebrex arthritis pills to help.I love it worth the aches & pain it's just adapting & managing distance & body etc. Police said a Farm vehicle or Truck carrying gravel & overloaded & pyhsics of corner & on bend as well dumped gravel 3inches deep right on the line of bike & I first bike over it afterwards.Bloody hurt & pain was horrible but survived to walk talk & ride.Thumbs up 👍 to you mate for keeping riding when most would give up & doing what you love I understand.

@limpn Awesome Effort Mate.Got a few more puns & plates than I have. I broke my back & it gets saw after about 90mins non stop but find if I rest regularly like every 60-90mins & have a stretch & take helmet off for 15-20mins can do 400km in a day but stuffed. If I do about 330-350km can go every day.If I know I got a rest day reckon I could do 500km in day but need a rest day & be no good to anyone.Resting often keeping fluids up.

@ it's a punish - I did 950ks from Geelong back to Mudgee after the M$B ride - to make things worse my air suppression compressor sh*t itself and I was riding a rigid for that long. Been home a week still feeling it. But if I can feel pain I know I’m alive !!!!

Did you have to use fender risers?

@@theoriginalmikeg. no , you just need to drill out the rear hole to make it about 4-5mm wider and that allows you to lift or tilt it forward enough to clear the tyre

well young fella now you really did make this old girl feel so ancient. Waaayyy back in 1980 my first Harley was a 1976 xlch modified Sportster. Springer front end no front guard 21" front wheel. rear had an invader mag. cut off rear guard tombstone taillight. flat bars and forward controls and virtually unseen indicators. small speedo and manually adjustable headlight. Kick start only which had a nasty kick back too! my youth made me a bit impervious to the spinal pain but sooo much fun!. All the references to 'old school' looks etc did make me feel all my 62yrs of age tho'! 😆 congrats on your new purchase and am looking forward to see how things develop. Regards from Tas.
