I think your video was sent to me for a reason. I’m new to reading the Bible. So far I bought 8 total NLT, Niv, and ESV versions. Do you think this is too many?

The others I put away, if I don’t reach for them in a few months I will be donating them. The world tells us we need new shiny because “ this specific creator on social media has it” so we buy it. I learned fast that Buying new bibles will not bring us closer to God. The word brings us closer to God! I started in NLT( finished cover to cover) and now I am in NIV. Thank you for this message. I have bought new Bibles in the past and still always gravitate towards the same particular Bible I’ve been using. I know it’s my “one”. Then I see something shiny and new and start researching it, but I remind myself of the stack of Bibles I already own and that I already have a favorite so why am I scrolling for a new one that will end up ignored with the others? It’s the consumer bug. And in my heart I know I want a sincere history of my relationship with God in one Bible but the temptation is real. My desire is to build on my relationship with God in my “one” Bible, not build on a collection of them. I pray God give me the fortitude to stay focused on His Word and not the materialism of Bible collecting. This message on your heart is important and inspired. Thank you! God bless.

As sad as the parable about the wheat and tares is, I draw comfort from it at times when I am treated poorly or misjudged by my own brethren. And I hope and pray that when Christ returns and divides, I am worthy enough to be counted as a wheat. It is comforting and grounding for me to simply remember that keeping the commandments is the love of God and that isn't a burdensome thing. Plus, this kind of love makes spikey people easier to tolerate and can cover a multitude of sins or cause someone to pure back to the narrow path. It's liberating law. Yay! Praying for my enemies is very helpful for me, too. Thanks for the edifying words, dear lady!

As a newbie, i find it important to only set off some time to read the bible, but highlighting keeps me engaged. I have two colors and just highlight what i understand, or things that stands out to me. I then i fill in notes after. Sometimes i read a bit them do the notes but either way its about the what the bible is saying. I think also that one can engage in art related to God and Jesus separatly aswell, in a separate time as to dedicate time as a way of glorifying him. I got on a whim and bought several bible translations, and waiting for nlt study, the abide bible and a life application one, but only use one of them due to not enough space right now. BUT IF i want to compare it is helpfull. And i do think study versions, atlases and dictionarys is absolutely super helpfull especially when its just you and the bible, and dont have other christians around. Same with devotionals. Putting time off aside from bible reading, reading these books are super helpfull. Just read one recently who helped me want to commit to my bibletime.

Thank you so much for these videos. A few years ago when bible journaling first started, I noticed on certain channels that women commented I don't have that bible or that paint or that marker. And they concentrated more on that than God's word. And I prayed about it and felt the Lord say our bible is a tool. Not to be worshipped. Not to be first place. And I noticed I too wanted my colors to look right in my marking. And I turned away from all that journaling stuff and I just read His word. I memorize it and study it, and mark it just for me. Not to show any one. And I'm so much happier. It's sad the enemy stepped into this and tries to trip us up with things like bibles. I love your videos so much and can't wait for the gardening!! ❣🌼🌺

Thank you Olga so much for a wonderful video, I’m so happy to have found your channel through a suggestion on KZbin about bible buying addiction. I wasn’t even looking for a video like this, but I know that the Lord saw that I needed to hear from another sister about this problem. Since then, I have taken one of my older bibles to read again, and have again been enjoying God’s word instead of being bound by delay and confusion about which pretty Bible, I’ll be reading today (sometimes take me 30+ minutes to decide, and by then, my desire to read has gone). No. Just get in the word as you advise is the best! Satan used my love for the word to create this confusion, ie focusing on the material world rather than the actual word of God. I’m so excited to hear that you are doing gardening from the perspective of faith, because this is an area I would love to challenge myself in!! I don’t know anything much about gardening and I would love to grow our own vegetables. Also, thank you for your prayers today and also I really love when you mention versus to meditate on. Guilty! When I first became a Christian I was so hungry for the WORD I couldn’t get enough of it. I bought Bibles and books galore. That was in 1999. Now I have Bibles and Christian books that just sit on the bookcase. I have not read them. I had bought more Bibles and books and they are scattered here and there. I bought these in the hopes of reigniting my desire to read the Bible. Not realizing that this had become a distraction from reading the Bible. I believed because it was a Bible or a Christian book it must be alright to own plenty of them. The LORD spoke to my heart: Anything that takes you away from ME, is not from ME. I quit watching KZbin channel Bible reviews. I sold or gave away Bibles and books that I had not read. I feel better and I’m able to focus. I found a Bible size that works best for me and a Bible translation. Thank you so much for addressing this matter. I was wondering if I was the only one that had a problem. ❤️

Thank you for talking about this. This is a topic not mentioned often, but is rampant within Christianity. Most believers say there is nothing wrong with having this addiction. They feel it's ok because it's the Bible and what else is the most important book to own? I have this addiction and I have cut way back, but it's an itch that when it hits is maddening. I think for me part of the challenge is the whole translation quandary. Once you settle on one then it does ease up. Bible review vlogs don't help. I've unsubscribed because I don't need any encouragement. No matter then stating you don't have to buy said Bible being reviewed which is baloney since that is the whole point of reviewing. Premium Bibles is a whole other topic.

This was a fact that I was once pleased about as I hungered for the Word and got caught up in the groups and review vlogs. I don’t frequent those groups anymore or channels. I have been lost in "translation soup," constantly going back and forth, comparing versions. I have put all but two away and will soon move down to one. I can empathize with a point you made in this (or maybe a following video). I converted from Judaism eight years ago. When I was practicing my Jewish faith, I used one Bible. There was only one English trnaslation available to me, and I was perfectly satisfied, never longing for another. Now, as a Christian, there are so many choices that it is overwhelming! In the beginning, I didn't know which was the right one. Now I have a BUNCH of Bibles with notes that I have collected over the years and I don't want to get rid of any of them because it feels like a part of me is in them. I have one Bible I read from for personal time, one Bible I read for a study I am doing, one for a different study, one for recording all of my notes, and there just never seems to be enough. I am going to start praying that the Lord will give me contentment with one Bible (or perhaps 2 - one for taking all the notes and one for reading and absorbing the word). You are very astute. Here in the UK, books and bibles abound. I rather fell out with my local Christian bookshop because they sold books promoting opposing theological views as far back as the 1990s. I went through the "hungry stage" buying all sort of books and thirty years ago thought I was "God's woman of power for the hour" possessing a huge library and video library of all sorts of teachings. It was a blessing that my husband was a staying influence on me and I came to my senses. We are not more spiritual because we own lots of Bibles and Christian books. My husband passed away three months ago and I really miss his quiet wisdom. I have one old leather Bible that I use. It is dog eared and familiar. Christian literature can be big business. Observing things from across the pond, I am aware that many "Christian" publications are really just self help manuals on how to have a more comfortable life in the here and now. We just need the pure and unadulterated Word!
