I am so glad I clicked on this video as this is an area I struggle with. I have bought probably 5 Bibles this year. I am always looking for the perfect fit - translation, print size, margins for notes, white page/cream page - but the perfect fit is any Bible you read! I commit to using one Bible and focusing on the Word in the pages rather than the color or layout of the pages. The Lord has been speaking to me about being content in general, and this video confirms that for me. Thank you!

Olga, I just found your channel, and I must say, it was a "divine appointment." I have a collection of Bibles that I have collected for one reason or another - whether for all of the study notes, for the translation, for the text block, for the space to write, etc. But it never seems to be enough. Now I have a BUNCH of Bibles with notes that I have collected over the years and I don't want to get rid of any of them because it feels like a part of me is in them. I have one Bible I read from for personal time, one Bible I read for a study I am doing, one for a different study, one for recording all of my notes, and there just never seems to be enough. I am going to start praying that the Lord will give me contentment with one Bible (or perhaps 2 - one for taking all the notes and one for reading and absorbing the word). I just happened upon you and this video and my goodness did I ever feel like you were speaking directly to me. I have been buying different translations, study bible and non study bibles etc. trying to find the one that checks all the boxes. And none do because I’m not reading them! I read a few times out of each one and find something I don’t like about it and buy another. Just a few days ago I decided I wanted to choose one and read through it and if I did that I would “reward” myself by getting my fave Bible rebound. So you see I already have a favorite that I keep going back to so why do I keep buying more?! It’s because I’m collecting them and not actually reading them and spending time with God. Thank you for this video. I needed to hear again what I already knew I was doing wrong. Keep sharing the truth, it’s getting out there in the most unexpected ways thank God.

I'm so glad this video popped up, even as a few hours ago I prayed to God to help me stop buying bibles. I am really going to try what you suggested- Jan 1, 2025- 1 hour a day spent in his word. 1 bible. It honestly feels impossible, its been such a battle, but I want to so bad!

❤️I seems impossible , but don’t give up even if you read only through New Testament , even for 30 minutes then 40, then 1 hour x may Lord lead you and fill your heart with JOY 😁

Amen! This is the work of the Holy Spirit! I am so glad you shared this video. This has been on my heart for a month now. I have been lost in "translation soup," constantly going back and forth, comparing versions. I have put all but two away and will soon move down to one. I can empathize with a point you made in this (or maybe a following video). I converted from Judaism eight years ago. When I was practicing my Jewish faith, I used one Bible. There was only one English trnaslation available to me, and I was perfectly satisfied, never longing for another. Now, as a Christian, there are so many choices that it is overwhelming! In the beginning, I didn't know which was the right one. Social media, marketing, etc. reallt pushes this Bible buying addiction, and I am so glad that the Holy Spirit has propelled you to be brave enough to speak the truth!

You make sure a great point. Other faiths have one Bible vs too many. Too many imo causes confusion hence the addiction. 😢

@openlybookish That is truly the case for me. I have multiple translations, mostly obtained uses or as gifts, in my search for the "right one." (All of which, in my collection, I have read.) Not to mention, well-meaning Christinas trying to help me by pointing me to the "right" translatio. It has been a rough journey.

I was so confused about this in my journey! I wasn’t sure if the enemy was trying to get me to drain my bank account or if the enemy didn’t want me to access the information. (Which I used to justify spending) Which one was him? You helped me realize he was trying to get me to overspend. I don’t “need” all of these Christian books in order to access what I’m looking for. I’ll still receive God’s messages through the Bibles and Christian books I already have. Thank you so much for addressing this!! 🙏🏻💗

Thank you for this. I realize a personal size bible that I could carry to church, with wide margins and commentary is not out there. So I have a personal size ESV study bible and I use a small notebook for comments or notes and I am satisfied with that.

I watched part 2 first by accident and then seach for part 1...thanks again. Also guilty and have to repent and I'm really going to try what you suggested to start immediately for 1 hour a day to read one Bible...I can't wait until next year...have to push myself with this...I also have read the new testament and that time was awesome...I can recommend it...again thanks.. I got stuck on what translation, I got all of them, gave them all away, got 10 more . Gave them away. I’m now with the csb going to stay with it , I have probably purchased 50 bibles, now I have 2 , I love buying other people bibles,

Let the Holy Spirit lead you ! It does not matter what translation now , you can pick a new translation later on when you have spent time with Jesus and read through at least New Testament ❤️that is my advice 😁🙌🏻🙏

I Only USE the KJV BIBLE, The Gospel Is Found In 1corinthians 15:1-4 --- EPHESIANS 2:8-9 --- ROMANS 1:16 Amen

Amen, James BUT you know other nations don’t have KJV Bibles and Jesus spoke in Aramaic and God can use a donkey to speak to a prophet 😁 so I believe God can use any translation in any nation to bring people to the knowledge of Jesus and Jesus is shown in the OT too otherwise He would not correct His disciples on the way to Emause that they were slow to believe what was written in OT ! ❤️but I love KJV also but I would need a dictionary to undrestand every word. Or a pastor to explain word by word. But my husband reads KJV only too .
