The more extravagant your lifestyle the more you have to work to finance it. With this, more of your money goes to taxes to finance a system that is destroying you. It is possible to live well on less... if you stop using credit cards.. money you don't have... to buy things you don't need or really even want, you've taken the first step. Your initial reaction will be..why did you take so long to free yourself from a self imposed slavery. The choice is yours.

Put simple, be single and childless to follow this. Otherwise... Just housing and food on the table for a family will suck all your energy. Then wife wants holidays, kids want the last game... Be single if you want to make the choice.

my drawers/cupboards/closets are full of stuff and clutter..... maybe I use 3% of all my posessions. I am now unemployed, (so I have unlimited time) and I have started to sell and donate from all my stuff, but it's advancing quite slow. Any advice for me ?
@SuperPenguin5495Күн бұрын
I am doing this with my grandma who has 3 generations of stuff in her house. A lot of it cannot and will not get used. Ever. Come to grips with that first. Second, focus on clothing - and how to donate it. You won't get even a fraction of what you paid for it. Third, Books that you haven't read in years or those magazines you'll "get to" Fourth, kitchen items that you don't use - put on craigslist free section as "Curb alert : pickup" Fifth, this will all take time and you'll constantly feel you wasted so much money. however the mental weight that will Be relieved is truly priceless. Trying to nickel and dime or sell stuff will only make it take longer. give it to friends and family for free

I think I am now on my 3rd iteration. This might sound rather depressing to someone how's doing their first iteration, but knowing that your home doesn't have to be perfect at first try. I also started at some point just throwing stuff away in trash since things were moving too slowly.

I don't know why so many people assume we work to buy crap. From Portugal, to France and several places in the UK, I've seen most people work to pay bills and still need to grow children in terrible places and eat edibles instead of food. It's not "consumerism", it's attempting to have the bare minimum.... for the family. The ones that can consume, please keep doing. It's food on the table for other people. Having that said, if you decide not having a family, then do a favor to yourself and have a simple life.

my father would say throughout my younger life " is there food in the fridge , is there gas in the car , are the bills paid , do you have clothes on your back , are the animals and garden taken care of" ? "well if the answer was yes then you are fine if no then concentrate on those that are not until everything is fine" "then you will be happy" 😊

Humans today have unwisely chosen "stuff" over nature and simplicity. Consumerism is not only killing our planet but our citizens as well. Materialism is an end-less cycle of buying more which means working more to pay for the " more." The world is trying to find happiness and joy on Amazon and shopping malls. It will never be found there.

great video ! I will say this I've been my happiest after 2 marriages , 3 children , and "having it all" when I had a 35 liter backpack with everything I needed and living for months on various long distance hiking trails (Appalachian , Pinhoti , and Pacific Crest Trail) once getting back to "civilization" my mind becomes anxious and my body feels sludgy

Yes, I live in the Adirondack mountains in upstate NY, I hike at least 4 days a week for 4 or 5 hours. I have to climb and escape to keep my mind balanced. I am a minimalist and try to get off the internet. Too much KZbin can be toxic

It is important to know the difference between emotional stability and materialism. There are many people who are poor and follow frugal lifestyles who do not have harmony in life. Emotional stability is a separate issue. Do not romanticize frugality thinking it is the key to emotional stability. Having less gives you more opportunities to witness yourself. But you must still do the work of dealing with your demons.

All of this sounds great until one considers the need for health insurance.

why could you not have frugal life and health insurance
@alfredmollitor671Күн бұрын
@@user-jb7bp5do6c because in the US health insurance is not provided by the government so one must have a job that provides it or pay a very high cost out of pocket.
