About to have a go at your recipe, it brings back memories of my wonderful mother who used to make this bread. What’s more she baked in in a cast iron pan, she call an oven, over the turf fire she waited until the fire was just right then on went the bread with burning turf brought over the top of the oven. It was always perfect ever time how wise were the older folk. Now at 77 I’m one of them. 👩🦯

Do you have a recipe for the baked ham Katrina?
@ScrummyTV14 күн бұрын
yes Cathy here is the youtube short and recipe kzbin.info8rL4xJUnAQc Honey Baked Ham Timings. • Prep Time: 30 mins. • Cooking Time: 1 hour 30 mins. • Total Time: 2 hours. Serves. 8 Ingredients For the Ham • 1.5kg (3IB) Unsmoked Gammon Joint/Ham Fillet. • 2 Small Onions, halved. • 2 Oranges, halved. • 1 tbsp Whole Cloves. • 4 Bay Leaves. • 1 Bottle (330ml/11.15 fl oz) Bulmers Cider. • Cold Water - enough to cover the filet. For the Ham Glaze • 1 tbsp Mustard Powder • 2 tbsp Honey. • 2 tbsp Demerara Sugar. • 1 tbsp Whole Cloves Other Glaze Options (see the comments below for ingredients and method) • Honey and Mustard Glaze • Maple and Brown Sugar Glaze • Pineapple and Brown Sugar Glaze Method Preparation: 1. In a large saucepan, place the gammon/ham, and add the onions, oranges, whole cloves, bay leaves and pour in the cider. Cover the gammon with cold water. I don't soak my ham in water prior to boiling as I know that the ham I buy isn't salty and doesn't require it. Please bear this in mind when you are buying and preparing your ham. 2. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and allow it to simmer for 1 hour. 3. Once done, allow the gammon/ham to sit in the water for a further 30 minutes before removing the gammon and reserving the cooking liquid as it can be used as stock for other dishes and some can be used when baking the ham so it doesn’t dry out. 4. Allow the gammon/ham to cool. Baking: 1. Preheat the oven: Fan Oven: 180°C/360°F. Oven: 200°C/400°F. Gas Mark 6. 2. To make the ham glaze: In a bowl mix the mustard powder and honey together until fully combined. 3. After the gammon has cooled slightly, place on a roasting tin lined with tin foil. 4. Carefully remove a little of the rough skin while leaving about a 1cm (½ inch) layer of fat on top. 5. Score the fat in diamond shapes and cover with honey and mustard glaze. 6. Add the whole cloves. How many you use really depends on your personal taste. 7. Sprinkle all over with demerara sugar. 8. Pour a small ladleful of the reserved cooking liquor into the base of the roasting tin (this helps prevent the meat from drying out). 9. Bake the gammon/ham in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until it develops a rich, golden colour on top. 10. While baking, baste the gammon once or twice with the juices in the base of the tin to keep it moist. 12. Once done, remove the gammon from the oven and allow it to rest for 10 minutes before thinly slicing and serving. 13. Enjoy your deliciously prepared gammon/ham! 14. Mmm, Scrummy!!!

No just the icing sugar, so in 1:06 the end I put in some double cream and a bit of sieved flour. Thank you so much for getting back to me, next time I will come to your recipes because it was very different from your way of mixing icing sugar in gradually and sieve it 🙏 I went to a book especially designed for cup cakes 😮 I will come to you now 🎉

Homemade Hobnobs Recipe Timings. • Prep Time: 10 mins. • Cook Time: 15 mins. • Total Time: 25 mins. Servings. 18 Biscuits/Cookies. • 8 ½ tbsp (125g/4oz) Butter, room temperature. • ⅓ cup (75g/2 ½ oz Light Brown Sugar or Caster Sugar. • 2 tbsp Golden Syrup. • ⅔ cup (100g/3 ½ oz) Wholemeal Flour. • ⅔ cup (100g/3 ½ oz) Porridge Oats. • ½ tsp Bicarbonate of Soda/Baking Soda • ½ tsp Baking Powder. • ¼ tsp Salt. Oven Temperatures: • Preheat the oven: • Fan Oven: 160°C/320°F. • Oven: 180°C/360°F. • Gas Mark 4. Method. 1. With a wooden spoon, hand or stand mixer cream the butter and the brown/white sugar until pale, fluffy and smooth. 2. Add the golden syrup and beat until it's incorporated. 3. Mix in the oats, flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. 4. Once the dry and wet ingredients are fully combined bring the dough into a ball. 5. Wrap with cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes. 6. Preheat the oven to the above temperatures and line two trays with parchment paper. 7. Roll the dough into small balls about the size of a tablespoon and flatten on the tray until they are about 2 inches in diameter. You can also roll the dough out and using a cookie cutter cut out the biscuits. Make sure to leave a little room between the cookies for spreading. 8. Bake for 15 minutes, until golden brown, then cool on the trays. 9. You can add some chocolate if you fancy a chocolate hobnob, just melt (100g/3 ½ oz Milk Chocolate with 2 tbsp of butter together) and use a teaspoon to spread it on each biscuit. 10. Mmm, Scrummy!!!

I love your recipes and have enjoyed lots of your videos. I really love Black Forest gateaux but having a problem sourcing tinned cherries, cherry jam and kirsch. Would you be able to tell me where and what brands you use. I’m making it for a family member and really want to use the best ingredients thanks so much
@ScrummyTV19 күн бұрын
I got tinned cherries and jam in tesco. I know Aldi/Lidl do them around this time of year. Tesco also sell tinned cherries. The cherry brandy is Bols and I picked that up in Asda, I found it hard to get where I live as am in the countryside. I've seen it available in off licences in bigger towns. Polish and Lithuanian shops are usually good for cherries, kirsch and sometime do cherries in a kirsch liquid. I hope that helps.
