Nothing like a well carried well-used well-loved case pocket knife and this one would make a great candidate but you have to put it in your pocket not in a slip

I gave up playing their artificial scarcity hustle that keeps the prices ridiculous. Most are scooped up by resellers that jack the prices up even higher...nice knives but just not worth the Hassel and stupid advance reserve BS you have to play to maybe have the privilege to pay through the nose to get one .....

I had one but gifted it to a friend to use as a whittler as the tip, from the factory, was rounded over quite badly. I'd like to order another but need a sharp, defined tip for my uses. If you look at the Rough Ryder Reserve RRR021, what they call their Quilcliffe, you get that same size blade but better finished and in D2 on a slightly longer handle beautifully dressed in black micarta. If you end up getting your hands on one, I'd love to see a side by side video. Great content. Liked and subscribed.

@ColdHarborOP4 ай бұрын
@@adrienjames SMKW and Chicago Knife Works both have them on sale for $39 and change right now, and they're one hell of a bargain at that price. The walk and talk on them is just plain impressive and the heat treat and finish of the D2 really lend it a keen edge and great stain resistance.

The larry roberts edition came out after the show which is also what led to the larry roberts gen 6 because after being on the show and using the regular genesis he wanted a genesis with a longer blade. The gen 6 is what he took with him on his second appearance on the show.
@adrienjames4 ай бұрын
Awesome thanks for that info. The gen 6 always looked a bit off to me proportionately. Fantastic knife though I’m sure. And useful
@joelkrieger924 ай бұрын
@@adrienjames I agree it doesn't look proportionate to me either it's an Lt though so I'm sure it's great. I have the regular genesis and am very happy with it. I do wish I would have spent the couple extra bucks on the Larry Roberts edition. I really like the white liners and I'm sure it fills the hand just a touch better.

@wesb1235 ай бұрын
Seems that mine has the updated sheath. Even with the strap open you can’t shake the knife out upside down. The fire stick handle still doesn’t line up properly to its home but if you insert it upside down it fits perfectly. Lucky it’s just a fire stick and is a consumable that gets replaced over and over anyway so it’s not important since every brand uses a different shape. One of the other complaints besides the old sheaths being loose was the dull spine. It only takes 30 seconds on the stone to get the spine to make the spine functional. For the $43 I can’t find anything to cry over. Removable scales would be sweet but we can’t always have it all in the very budget price point.
@adrienjames5 ай бұрын
Can’t disagree with that fine assessment. Great to hear the sheath has been changed up. The pinned handles don’t bother me so much. I have so many knives to baton with. This is a hunting/carving knife for me. Thanks for watching!
@BaxtersBlades5 ай бұрын
Never heard of it. Sounds like a deal with that steel and if it isnt just titanium coated aluminum. I hate a strong detent, i have 1 knife like that and i never use it. Id open it up and lube the crap out of it. Thats a temporary fix till it breaks in i guess.
@adrienjames5 ай бұрын
Agreed. I’m pretty sure this is actual titanium. Impressive, but honestly that detent is such a pain I ended up getting rid of it completely. There are just too many good choices out there 😎👍🏻

Have you actually used this knife in the bush yet? I like the grind it has better than a convex myself
@adrienjames5 ай бұрын
Yes it’s done well. Wait a sec - You like the grind it has out of the box with the secondary bevel over a convex edge?
@jimmyrutledge45315 ай бұрын
Yes because out in the bush it’s easier for me to sharpen on a stone. And with convex you need something padded underneath some sandpaper, that’s just something else to have to pack. Jmo
@adrienjames5 ай бұрын
@@jimmyrutledge4531 Of course do what you do but a pad underneath is not necessary. Guys have been sharpening knives out in the bush with convex edges for thousands of years using nothing but rocks. Micro bevels have no true place of lasting value in the wilderness.

Really? I guess I don’t understand how you can get a true convex using a flat hard stone?

Govt policy has pushed all our manufacturing overseas. We can't even make our own clothes. If we can't buy American, we won't have American. We'll be at the mercy of enemies. Case can't change govt policy working against them.

If you look at Shepherd hills by pattern you'll see that there are 3 or 4 case pattern numbers that supposedly qualify as "medium stockman". The most popular is the 18. I prefer the 47 which is bigger than the 18 but smaller than the 75.

I bought this this the day the DBK video came out and have been batoning wood with it DAILY for the small wood burner in my shop. Old lumber from a collapsed building, crappy half wet chinese elm limbs, twisted and stringy pine logs.... I've beat this knife like it owes me money and not a single fault so far. The sheath is of good construction but I will agree that it doesnt retain the knife.
@adrienjames6 ай бұрын
Excellent thanks for sharing. Are the handles moving around the pins as a result of batoning?

@adrienjames not even a little. I did chip a little chunk of wood off the handle scales on the left side though.

The Lawman is an awesome knife, I used to have one until a friend had to have it! I have many Cold Steels and love them. The Recon 1 Tanto is my EDC modern folder of choice. One thing I do to all of my Cold Steels is fix the pocket clip. It is salvageable and can easily be turned into a very good clip. I have one to do and will make a video on it soon. Your AK47 may be an earlier model than mine. I carried it for almost two years and used it hard. The coating is in perfect shape. I am not sure what it is but it looks more like gun bluing. The grain of the steel can still be seen, it is defiantly not a painted on coating.
