I have been thinking about getting one of these machines to learn car interior upholstery. I am deciding between this one, and a Rex sewing machine(about 400$) which are one of the few clones of the Sailrite ultra feed machines (about 1000$) for around a 100$ with a few upgrades and some tuning that it might need its seems like a good option.

I respect your point. The reason I use this is because of the 360° walking foot, and this machine is just 100USD and still sews through heavy leather. This video was just to show it doing a simple task. Thank you for commenting!

Hello friend, good evening, I am writing to you from here in Mexico, I have one of those machines, I am expanding my business with the manufacture of wallets and belts. But I have a problem with my machine. It sews but the thread seems to get tangled at the bottom and it gets hard and that's when the thread breaks. I hope you can help me.

It sounds like your tension or the timing could be slightly off. The 2 bolts on the slide bar that operates the bobbin may be just slightly out of alignment. Once you get it working better, mark your cams and all adjustments with a center punch in case it gets loose and out of time. I hope this helps 🙏

How did you make the base for the machine?
@USMC0331Veteran
@USMC0331Veteran 7 ай бұрын
I had some pine scrap wood in the shop and just measured the height of the flywheel and cut it all out to fit. I used a bandsaw to cut the long notch and rounded edges. For the finishing, I just used a propain torch to highlight the wood grain and a damp cloth to wipe off the charing. Everything is held together with star bit wood screws. I hope this helps! If you have more questions about a specific part of the build, I'm happy to go into further detail!

Hello, I understand that a Cobra would be a way nicer machine. I'm new at making videos, but most of my videos are centered around just getting into basic hobby level trades that I can help people get into relatively affordability. I mostly focus on helping disabled combat veterans find a hobby to help them find an outlet for their mental health. My primary job is in the mental health field, and I only work with veterans. My hope is that someday their skills and abilities will outgrow this machine and they sell off enough small homemade products, that if they choose to continue with their hobby and make it a vocation, they can then afford something like a Cobra. My machine was a gift, and after understanding how it works, I have it running flawlessly. You can say it's "junk" and being mass-produced in China, some likely are, but my experience with it and the Facebook community that helps each other get their machine tuned, mine has been anything but "junk" Thank you for commenting, and if you wouldn't mind, would you please consider leaving a link to a Cobra that you think would be the next step up? Have a great rest of the day!

From the perspective of the camera this doesn't look like my Capri Cyclone. More like a Laser or a Super Sunfish.
@USMC0331Veteran
@USMC0331Veteran 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's not a cyclone, it a Capri 13. The cyclone is a bit heavier with a stronger mast. This came after Capri stopped making the cyclone and is like a force 5/laser. It's faster than both though and very light.
@gordonipock9385
@gordonipock9385 2 жыл бұрын
I have been confused whether a Capri Cyclone and a Capri 13 are the same thing. This has a lower foredeck and a smaller cockpit than my Cyclone. Also, the rigging is not the same. My Cyclone looks a lot like a Banshee or a slightly smaller version of a 420. It's not another big surfboard with a simple sail the way a Sunfish and Laser are.
@gordonipock9385

@@gordonipock9385 you would probably enjoy the Capri 13, it has a great setup. Simple enough but still more options to trim the sail.
@gordonipock9385
@gordonipock9385 2 жыл бұрын
I have an old Thistle, but I cannot set the mast by myself. I bought the Cyclone looking for something easy to setup and sail by myself. I like that it does have a traditional sail that is hauled up by a halyard via a slot in the mast. The Cyclone mast also has a forestay and a heavier mast sheeting setup than this boat. I have a set of Snipe sails which will actually work well on the Cyclone. I might like something bigger (Mutineer and Buccaneer look like good boats) with a hinged mast step that would allow me to set the mast by myself. Or perhaps a 420.

I just purchased the same boat and have been trying to figure out how the jib cam cleat works for several days. @USMC0331Veteran
@USMC0331Veteran 4 жыл бұрын
No plugs in the 2 holes that go into the cockpit, there should be one plug that is directly under the rudder that needs to be plugged before you go sailing though. The one drain plug is threaded and if you don't have it you can find them on Amazon. Happy sailing!!

Hello John. I looked at your pictures and I know what I would do. If this were my boat, I would take it to a welding shop and bring three, 2 ft pieces of quarter inch angle aluminum, and 2 three-foot pieces of 1-inch diameter aluminum conduent. Since this is a cyclone you are in luck and welding the mast back together should not affect the sail. I would ask the welding shop to cut one inch off of each end or just past where the deformation is occurring around the broken edges. Using two pieces of the quarter inch angle aluminum on the outside and the two aluminum pipes in the inside (the quarter inch angled and round aluminum can be purchased at tractor supply or home Depot) they can tack the ends to the mast well past the break to ensure the mast is straight, and the pipe inside tacked to the bottom edge of the breaks and drilled and tacked every 4 inches down the mast to the pipe. The angled bars will act as a guide to force it strait. Since this mast is oval-shaped they will need to put one on the front of the mast as well. They only need to weld the angle aluminum at the very ends and at the break to secure the mast and ensure that it is straight. The two pieces of round aluminum conduit that is at least as thick as the mast material should Run through the mast on either side. Have them pop riveted in and then weld it. Then they should be able to run a really nice bead using a heliarc or a TIG welder around the freshly cut ends of the mast. I would ask them to weld pretty liberally due to the heat weakening the aluminum. They can then cut the angle iron back off if you wish for it to look like it did before, or they can completely weld lengthwise on both sides of the angle aluminum to the mast to ensure a stronger more rigid structure, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the rig. I would go with a stronger more rigid structure personally. None of this should cost very much. The angle aluminum is usually less than $30 at tractor supply but the well job is going to be up to the welder. I would search and shop around for a certified TIG welder. Putting a sleeve over this type of mast is not easy due to it being football shaped instead of round. The shape makes for a stronger mast when pressure is being put on it laterally as in when it's under load of the wind and sail. The reason I would use angle aluminum is because it would add more rigidity than flat bar stock aluminum. After the job is done, I would make sure and run a file through the area where the sail runs through the mast to ensure there is no snagging and ripping. I hope this helps!  If not I'm sure that you can find a mast somewhere on Craigslist or eBay for a last case resort. James Cash.
