You should do one where you take into account every round won and lost in addition to the result of each fight. A fighter could have dominated for 4 rounds straight, then get caught in the 5th, which should make them lose less elo compared to getting their ahh kicked for multiple rounds and losing on top of that. Hope it makes sense.

Including fighters from Pride FC would've been good considering that a lot of early UFC fighters had a career in pride FC and some fighters from pride never came over to the UFC, hence they wouldn't be included in your statistics. Mainly seeing how Fedor, Wanderlei, Rampage and Kevin Randleman stack up would be interesting.

Wow. Great video. I work in I.T. and I am a maths lover, an MMA fan and a chess fan so I really appreciate this. Have you thought about doing boxers next? BoxRec use an automated system to rank fighters (within weight classes) based on past performance but it doesn't use the same ELO formulae. Obviously you would need to scrape the fight data ..

This is all great, but what happens when you add Kurt Angle to the mix? I know the numbers don't like, but who would put Ryan Bader over Alex Perreira. Maybe some refinement is needed.

UFC doesn't really work with ELO, because they have too few fights. Magnus Carlsen the current best chess player in the world has an ELO of 2830 based on over 1500 classical chess games.

The engine needs to calculate the peak elo not the elo at the end of the career.

You have to do one, where it calculates how much Elo they gain or lose, based on they’re opposites elo for when they fought

Replacing won fights with won rounds would be very interesting. KO‘s in earlier rounds could just be accounted as if all the rounds from there are won + the 15% booster for all rounds in the fight. This would benefit fighters with high consistency who were in a lot of 5 round fights

This is why it was sad when Khabib retired because of his dad’s passing. He would’ve surely moved up to middleweight and just easily won against fighters like Weidman, Izzy, Rockjold, Yoel, Bisping, etc. But would’ve loved to see him fought against GSP. He would’ve been the goat for sure but it is a what if scenario.

Should make a dataset showing the prime from 25-35 and Anderson Silva will be up there. Would be an interesting outcome vs all time.
