I'm so pleased! I watch plenty of others on here that inspire me too; we all need a little nudge from time to time 😂🙏

@MarkLewisfitness is the first I ever heard of Hyrox. It looks tempting. But as a weak marathoner (no ultra), I was not sure it would be possible for someone like me. Thanks for showing how it might be done. Maybe. Someday.

@MarkLewisfitness was where I first heard of it too! I think you'd surprise yourself, and it's worth a shot if you're curious. I had lots of fun, but I won't be doing them too often - I like being outdoors too much 😊🙏

Nice job Chris! Very inspiring. I would not have expected hyrox to be as accessible as you say it is. Maybe I’ll give it a shot sometime. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Thanks so much! And yes, it wasn't easy, but it could be done - I think they've programmed it really well. Good luck if you choose to do it ☺️🙏

Enjoyed this … thanks. As average an ultra runner but also someone hits the weight and hybrids style workouts hyrox has been on my radar for a while… must take the plunge. 👍

These CrossFit variants just don't stop popping up. lol

They do! I think Hyrox will probably end up winning the non-crossfit CrossFit competition. It's so much more accessible than CrossFit, and it attracts people from both sides - you had the weak runners like me who can smash 5-miles of running but found the obstacles hard, and you had the bodybuilding / crossfitters who demolished the stations but hate running. It's quite clever really ☺️🙏

Was that your first Hyrox, Chris? Well done. You saved the day for Amy! I'll just stick to gentle, solo outdoor running, though. When you described the noise and buzz of the Hyrox arena, I cringed - not for me, I'm afraid! 😂

Yes, this was my first Hyrox. Quite the baptism by fire 😂 And yes, I know what you mean. The introvert in me did find it a bit overwhelming, but it was fun as a one-off. Definitely back to nature with my running now though ☺️🙏

Hi Chris- how are you doing? Thankfully I have not been in your clinic as I have remained injury-free! In answer to your question: yes I do! I missed May so Nov London 2024. I have changed my training completely. More anaerobic and less distance runs. Weight training 4 times per week at a Hyrox related gym near me. My running has improved due to the strength training over the last 6 weeks. I feel stronger in my legs and I am about 5kg lighter- so back to my original running weight with lean muscle.

I'm doing it the other way. Did Hyrox in November, now have a 50kb trail run in July. In no way a natural runner but giving it a go!

Nice! Love it. Best of luck with your training. Here's how I trained for my first ultra: kzbin.info/www/bejne/imGXZ5p3opiNnbcsi=0tsXYyWiStKUGGZ4

No, never heard of Hyrox before and my first thought was "Hmmm I wonder if this Chris guy is a bit of a masochist!!"😂😂 It looks horrible!!!😂 So I bet it's kinda addictive then!😂 BRAVO Amy getting you through it !!😂

Haha maybe I am a masochist 🤔😂 ... and yes, all the kudos goes to Amy, she was brilliant 😊

can i ask your height and weight? what do you squat / bench in the gym normally as part of your training? interesting stuff about the recovery! thanks great insights mate
@ChrisBranch Жыл бұрын
Ah yes, this would have been helpful info to put in the video 😂🤦♂️. I'm 6'2" and 78kg (172lbs). I haven't done a 1-rep max in years, but I squat 80kg for 5x5, and bench 70kg for 10 reps ... but these numbers may have dropped slightly by the time I did Hyrox because my life was so manic in the run-up to the hundred-miler I only had time to run and strength went out the window 🤦♂️

That was an interesting challenge and super impressive, I can’t see me switching disciplines but very interesting. Do you think there is any value in Hyrox training for endurance runners?
@ChrisBranch Жыл бұрын
Thank you! And no, I don't think there's much value in this style of training for endurance athletes. In order to optimise your training for something like Hyrox, you have to be doing a lot of high-intensity stuff, which would detract from your normal endurance training week, plus it requires more recovery than most of the training we do as endurance athletes. Ironically, the thing I do feel helps us a lot as endurance athletes is heavy strength training - the thing I had been neglecting in the run up to this video! I had a window where I had my life in order this summer and I was doing heavy strength plus my running training, and I felt amazing! I'm going to try and make this a regular thing next year and I'll share the journey here 😊🙏

@@ChrisBranch thanks Chris, this has certainly saved me unnecessary time and effort. Completely agree on the strength work along with running. 🙏
