Hi just wanted to say thanks everso for posting this video. We noticed an absolutely foul smell yesterday and we tracked it down to the back of the fridge. We followed your instructions to remove the drip tray- which was indeed the culprit. After washing it thoroughly it was a bit of a faff putting it back into position, but finally we managed it. Our fridge is a 15 yr old Beko and at the rear it looked exactly like yours. Thanks again- Ros

Exactly the issue. Cheesy smells in the kitchen and we thought it was a dead mouse or something. Nope. A drip tray full of cheesy smelling mould 🤮

i stupidly just bought a secondhand fridgefreezer off marketplace on facebook and paid far too much for it as well, it stinks!!!!!! i cleaned and cleaned and cleaned it but it still stinks i will have a look at the back to see if i can get to the drip tray! sounds like this might be the problem😮 so i hope i can finally solve it🙏 i will come back and let u know thanks! today is the 27/10/24

Hi,I discovered watery liquid in mine at the back outside of my fridge,I mopped it up with a cloth which I threw away and it was dirty water..just above it says CYCLOPENTANE in big letters! I was worried that the liquid was something to do with this????

Mines a silver colour but moister tray looks the same will this work on mine ,ive tried pulling but seems pretty on there ,you think i need to be more forceful

Do you just slide bk in to put it bk or you do something else ?

I cleaned mine yesterday. I didn't notice a smell, but the tray was damaged in the middle. If you touch it, it's just fall apart. It's such an easy thing to forget to do. I now need a new tray, but they are a lot more expensive than i realised for such a simple item.

I had a mystery smell in my apartment for at least a couple of years and it drove me nuts, it always seemed to get worse in hot weather. I deep cleaned everything in the place and for some reason the existence of the drip tray escaped me. I took it out and it was full of the most disgusting mold-filled, slimy black water I have ever seen. God knows how much those spores have been affecting my health. I poured it down the toilet and flushed a few times. There was black slime in the bottom which I had to get out. Then I bleached it for an hour in hot water with loads of bleach in it. So good to put that sparkling fresh tray back in.

Dear Matt. Thank you so much for posting this video and including the note about it seeming like it will break you have to pull it so hard, if I hadn’t read that I wouldn’t have dared to continue. I removed the tarry black goo before putting it back. Loved reading other people’s stories too, yes you think this is a rotting creature in the ceiling/ something the cat brought in/ you’re going mad.. is it you? So you caustic soda all your sink pipes and take apart the plumbing underneath.. yes you clean your entire fridge and throw most of it away.. you clean out all your cupboards expecting to find the culprit.... .. and then when you finally hunt it down .. Grey sludge with maggots squirming around in it with a smell that is truly beyond description. Emptying it is death defying. These things are sent to try us.

I can't remove mine at all I've used a cloth to clean mine but I noticed mine seems to be dripping from about it that pipe above the tray and not from the hose is that normal.

Thanks Matt, the smell has been driving me crazy for a couple of weeks, cleaned and searched everywhere until today I pulled the fridge from under the worktop, to say the drip tray was disgusting is being too polite, got it out and cleaned and now back in after much retching. thank you so much
