I just had my scoliosis surgery and my doctors team also didn’t suggest me physiotherapy they said that physiotherapists cant do much after this surgery so just try doing normal activities mostly moving. Its 22 days to my surgery now , do you think I should see a physiotherapist or really wait for few more days/ months until I am more mobile than now?

How old are you and from when do you have scoliosis
@firstanama45736 ай бұрын
I had mine 18 years ago and suffering past 5 years. Overtime fusion caused kyphosis of my neck, severe pelvic floor dysfunction, venous insufficiency and myofascial and nerve pain. If you can avoid the surgery and try scroth therapy first. Understandably you might need the surgery. The surgeons will not tell you about the long term issues most of the time. I also have EDS which was unknown at the time I had surgery.

All I can say look into alternatives artificial disk replacement , this is the worst mistake of my life

is ur mobility still the same like does the surgery restrict u from doing certain stuff im about to have mine im scared

Not at all. Every single level that is fused your flexibility is basically eliminated forever. Basically, sit/stand up straight, now imagine you hold that position, FOREVER.Sitting, standing, driving, cooking, swimming, picking something off the floor, everything. Pls pls try physio like Scroth (for mild curves) or Clear method for worse curves poss combined with brace. There's also non limiting surgery like VBT and apifix which could be better. I had my surgery at 13 and now 9 years later my discs above and below the fusion are degenerating. I regret my surgery so much.

@@jemma_palma bro i had surgery and i feel nothing has happened btw what happens when disc gets old it affects ur spine or something?
@jemma_palma3 ай бұрын
@@iiblix6463 yes. then they'll tell you to have another fusion. idk how long you had your surgery ago, mine was 9 years ago and i'm only getting degeneration now. i didn't have a problem straight after my surgery. search up "black disc mri" or adjacent segment disease.

Your list of items is spot on. Had my surgery 3 years ago. Although my expectations were managed by my doctor, reality can be much different. The recovery, pain, and numbness far exceeded expectations. I am fused T2 to Pelvis with a scar from the base of my neck to the crack of my ass. Surgery was 12 hours. I was 63 at the time of the surgery so that I’m sure made it more difficult. I still have lots of numbness around the surgical area. It has improved, but still a long way to go. Initially while it heals the itching from nerve endings can drive you crazy but it passes. Having said all that, with some limitations, I can do most things. But in some cases I may do them differently. Most importantly, as long as I don’t do anything stupid, I am pain free.

I had that surgery 2 months ago and maybe it was just that I had a good surgeon but I went through none of this. Whatever this video does, don't let it put you off surgery as much as it probably does. I'm VERY glad that I didn't watch this video before my surgery. Surgery changed EVERYTHING for me for the better. I feel like I've been given my life back. (A life I would've NEVER known I was missing out on if I hadn't had that surgery.) I had pain after the surgery but it was never uncontrollable because they give you very strong painkillers. By 3 weeks after the surgery, I was already able to go shopping and was in no pain. I was delighted because previous to the surgery, I'd always deep down be thinking about my back pain instead of enjoying shopping.

I need to find your list of positives, because this is a lot of negatives --- pain is the watchword. Pain in many situation on a daily basis, Taking painkillers for the last 9 years, as I understand it . Difficulty standing in one place, doing anything for long, it seems like. This all sounds rough. I need to find your list of positives asap. I am a candidate for fusion due to scoliosis and am finding this discouraging. Not to mention the restrictions of movement which you don't really go into.

I’ve heard stories about some people lose the feeling in the back. They are not able to get massages. Did you experience any of this ?
@Lex-rd4cj10 ай бұрын
I've lost a bit of feeling on my back after my spinal fusion (did mine in 2010, T3-L3), it's a patch around 10x15 cm (3.9x5.9 inches) for me! But the loss of feeling is only in the skin so you would still feel any pressure that is applied and I'd say that massages are just as great! The only way I would not feel anything at all there is if you'd stroke it super light with the nails only!
