When I started driving we had trip envelopes and trip sheets. You would fill in the miles driven in each state and highways driven on . Every time you crossed a state line you would write down the mileage on a notepad. Saw a guy at a table in a truck stop playing back a little hand held voice recorder and writing down his mileages. I thought that’s a good idea and at the time you could buy them in the truck stop so I got one. I still have that somewhere. Once you filled out your trip sheet with all your receipts you sealed the envelope and dropped it in a drop box at the truck stop and once the company received it you got paid. Things are a lot faster nowadays.
@jptransport88302 күн бұрын
I've been there and done it. Before e-logs I would have trip sheets laid out all over my living room floor, adding all of them up to make sure it was equal to my total mileage. I remember telling my wife while I was doing this... could you imagine having 10 trucks. What used to take hours I just did in real time. That is a good idea about the little recorder. It would be safer than writing.

Dd15 changing the crank case filter will help you have better oil pressure after half million miles I’ve run them both I know the maintenance and difference between the two dd15 and the dd13 the 13 is a fuel saver for flat lands lanes and the 15 will pull the hills better but both are realistically good I’ve had a dd15 vapor lock a driver didn’t warm it up and pulled out the yard and it locked it up on the outside of yard driver just turned the key and took off didn’t even care, I’ve had a driver pump 50 gallons of gasoline into a dd15 and it shut it down after a few miles away and it was a mess blowing out all the lines and everything towed it into the yard and pumped it out and it been running great

That's a tough truck to have gasoline run through it, and it still works. It probably wouldn't hurt to change the crankcase breather, I've changed them in the past, but not on this truck.

@@jptransport8830 yes we operate and do all in-house services on the equipment here in our own shop on our yard but she pumped 50 gallons into the diesel tanks and my husband only thing he asked was how she got 50 gallons of gasoline from the truck fuel island and we found out she used the truck island for gasoline on the opposite side of service center it’s a local place us locally folks use here in Raleigh Nc it’s setup for businesses nothing but fuel one side is diesel and the other side is gasoline but it didn’t damage the engine at all it’s a brand new truck 2024 it probably had 30k miles on it but it’s been working nonstop for about 6 months after no problems since

I hate putting that primary fuel filter in. Always afraid of damaging the little plastic nub at the bottom. I mark the top of the filter housing in line with hole and do the same with top of filter . I put filter in and seat it and then put plastic cover on and tighten. The crowd I log for do that with all their DD’s as they had one break and caused all types of fuel starvation issues. I like your big shed and it’s about the same size as mine except I went for more snow on the floor. Lynchburg is located in Moore County. For whatever reason, probably taxation or city services, the entire county is considered as the city limits of Lynchburg. I looked at a map and the line intersects 231 for a short stretch about half way between Winchester and Shelbyville. You probably entered the city of Lynchburg at that point even though you are probably a good 10 miles out of downtown. Nashville / Davidson County is the same way though it is a much larger city.

Thanks for sharing your 2025 goals. Thanks to the internet, I pulled up this quote from Lao Tzu, the ancient Chinese philosopher: "Watch your thoughts, they become your words. Watch your words, they become your actions. Watch your actions, they become your habits. Watch your habits, they become your character. Watch your character, it becomes your destiny." Pretty good advice and sounds like the changes/goals that you have in mind for yourself and your business for this year. You will get there. I've had a goal for nearly 2 years now to lose 30 pounds. I'm down 24 so far...it's not easy when you are coming up on 67 years old. But the actions and habits add up...I track all my calories. I've increased my protein intake. No alcohol in the past 9 months (that was really very easy). Goal to get 7 hours sleep/day (I don't sleep well). Fasting...I don't eat for 15 hours, then I consume my calories in a 9 hour time span. Track my movement with my FitBit...walked over 2,000 miles in 2024 (around 5.5 miles/day). Started running again. I'm playing the "long game" and will achieve my goals... Have a safe trip!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I need something to keep me going, like a carrot on the end of a stick. It sounds like you have been doing a great job to stay healthy. 2000 miles in one year is great! That's like walking all the way to Phoenix. I was just listening to an old Richard Nixon interview he said the saddest people are the ones who drink too much, think too little, and play too much golf. It was something like that. What I took from it is that a person needs some direction or purpose in life.

Will be interesting when you put the lift axle on what your MPGs will go to. I have set a goal to lose 20 pounds by April 1st this year, too much jiggle when I hit the expansion joints. With the furniture could you run loaded with the axle up or would you need to do a few stops first.
@jptransport883022 күн бұрын
Losing this weight is hard. I think the lift axle on the trailer will make a big improvement. I think I'll be able to have it lifted most of the time, I'll probably hit a scale the first time just to check it.
