4 years as a brit in FL for me was enough. Everyone feels entitled, not to mention trigger happy people. Never get out of your car and approach another car, you are likely to be shot

Great and useful.We are retired and thinking of spending more time in Florida as most of my famile are living in Tampa, St Cloud, Orlando and New York.Woyld you advise how long to spend and how and what is the best time, of year. We would like our winter months as I do not care for the cold anymore. I also worked as a nurse.My niece is still working as a nurse in Tampa. Many thanks. Sylvia Jones.

Frustration is a very positive sign. It means that the solution to your problem is within range, but what you're currently doing isn't working, and you need to change your approach in order to achieve your goal.

Rosie, you are absolutely correct on all your stated facts in this video! I live in central Florida, and am a ex pat Brit from the Isle Of Wight and I agree with everything you have said! I would say that anyone thinking of moving to the US and Florida need to know the things you have stated. I also still struggle with the hot weather and humidiy . And I bet you have found out but just in case you haven't. Target do Marks and Spencer Christmas food in December!!!😄

When you live in a tropical area like Florida then you take vacation in the fall, say around beginning of October and you spend a week either in Vermont or New England to see the colorful trees, or you go to Pennsylvania to see the beautiful colors, and maybe go to the Amish Dutch Country that would make you feel like you're in Europe.

I live in Northeast United States and we do not eat white gravy. We have a dozen different gravy in the Northeast including brown gravy, beef gravy, Hunters gravy, and mushroom gravy, onion gravy, chicken gravy, turkey gravy, pork gravy, ect ect. Many gravies in the Northeast would be more like European gravy's

I'm an American who loves American food, diners, steakhouses, seafood restaurants, buffets. I also love European Foods and I really like British food. I'm a chef and I know how to make all-british foods, if you miss your British food then you should find a good British restaurant or you should cook yourself some British food. Beef Wellington and beef and kidney pie, and Sunday roast is not difficult to make.

Do you find that there is a lot more overt religiosity in the states? I feel like that would be something a Brit would have to get used to; we don't typically discuss religious matters publicly. It would be regarded as a bit odd.

I would be curious to get your thoughts / opinions on: Holidays / vacation, sick days, etc. in your job in the US compared to the UK (many Americans say its very bad), paying for healthcare vs NHS, police (if you've seen anything or had any interactions with them), in the US they say typically you have to drive everywhere - is that true, what about the gun culture - have you seen / noticed this at all?
@rosiealice6855
@rosiealice6855 Жыл бұрын
Hi! @douglasmcclelland so in terms of paid time off you accumulate it as you work, you don’t automatically get it like I did when I worked in England. Which sucks but overall I still have more money in my pocket compared to England; including taking out health insurance which I pay nearly $1000 a month for. As of yet I haven’t had any experience with police and hopefully won’t 🤞🏼 but there are bad ones I’m sure, although I’m sure there are bad cops in England. Yes we do have to drive everywhere, you can’t Walk to the corner shop, although by distance you probably could however to my local store there’s roads with no sidewalk and obviously in Florida it’s hot. Hun culture is what it is. I personally believe with all the shootings it should be harder to get them, it’s at a point where people want them so they can defend themselves from the bad people that have them.

If you live in a small town in the United States you can walk everywhere. If you live in the suburbs or the countryside then you need a car.
