When you live in a tropical area like Florida then you take vacation in the fall, say around beginning of October and you spend a week either in Vermont or New England to see the colorful trees, or you go to Pennsylvania to see the beautiful colors, and maybe go to the Amish Dutch Country that would make you feel like you're in Europe.

We have different gravies: Chicken gravy Cream gravy Sausage gravy Pork gravy Liver (beef) gravy Beef gravy Beef gravy is brown. Liver and pork gravy are tan. You change your gravy depending upon which meat is served with the meal. If you are having chicken, you will be putting white gravy on your mashed potatoes. If you are having beef, you will be putting brown gravy on your mashed potatoes. Also, try your gravy over rice -- that is delicious.

the White gravy you are talking about is Country Gravy , ususaly has black pepper corns and ground sausage in it.. its more of a Southen Breakfast gravy but we got al kinds of gravy youre just coming across Coutnry Gravy for some reason. The "sweet potato mash" youre talking about is just "Sweet potato" thats all we call it. Its very Southen and Country, its mashed sweet potato with butter , salt, brown sugar, crshed pecan and marshmellow on top then all baked until it melts into a sweet creamy topping.. southerners have been eating that for 100 years at least.. the marshmellows are a recent addtion probably 1950s.

Hey Rosie, I'm a Brit who moved to Wisconsin about 7 years ago 😊The seasons are nice but the best ones (Spring & Fall) are short and Winters are BRUTAL at times, and as I get older it's definitely going to be a factor. I'm thinking about either the east of west coast of Florida, do you think you'll be happy there long term or are the negatives leading you to want to move eventually? Mosquitos are a bane in WI too, my logic is that the coastal FL breeze will help there... or is that wishful thinking? 😆

Rosie - I think the reason your FL driving test was so minimal is because you were already considered a licensed driver. Here in Wisconsin, you would be legal to drive with a UK license. If you established residency, you would need to apply for a license. BTW, our seasons are probably similar to the UK and many of us like to visit Florida to escape winter, especially as we get older.

Thai and Japanese are easily available in England or at least in the big cities, you can get Shake Shack too. As for the weather I would of thought you would still need to plan, as every year I go to Orlando and it rains so much. And back too the food it’s like they put three spoons of sugar in every meal. And generally speaking it is more processed even from the restaurants not to mention the hormones fed to the animals etc. Also it is petrifying as a pedestrian to cross the road in Florida and drivers are turning even when it’s White man UK Green man. That is plain simply wrong and dangerous and one year I was hit. So I don’t think the roads are safer, most definitely, not for pedestrians!

This was my perspective of living in England. I always had to travel over an hour to get different varieties of food whereas it’s readily available where I live in Florida. @Matthew_Loutner2 ай бұрын

@rosiealice6855 Жыл бұрын
Hi! @douglasmcclelland so in terms of paid time off you accumulate it as you work, you don’t automatically get it like I did when I worked in England. Which sucks but overall I still have more money in my pocket compared to England; including taking out health insurance which I pay nearly $1000 a month for. As of yet I haven’t had any experience with police and hopefully won’t 🤞🏼 but there are bad ones I’m sure, although I’m sure there are bad cops in England. Yes we do have to drive everywhere, you can’t Walk to the corner shop, although by distance you probably could however to my local store there’s roads with no sidewalk and obviously in Florida it’s hot. Hun culture is what it is. I personally believe with all the shootings it should be harder to get them, it’s at a point where people want them so they can defend themselves from the bad people that have them.

I’ve been a few times but never found any Cuban or proper Mexican etc. I miss Wagamamas though!! I heard there’s one in NY!
@sophiew82393 жыл бұрын
@@rosiealice6855 agreed Cuban food is missing (although when I went to Cuba I'd say the US version is much nicer than the authentic one!) and good Mexican food (outside of Mexico) is also sthg you only really get in the US but I'd say the Italian restaurants in London are better (at least in my experience having lived in London for 9 years now!)

@rosiealice68553 жыл бұрын
Yes, yes, yes and yes 😆. Snakes we find often in the garden but most are harmless. Thankfully we don’t have tarantulas like Texas 😳

When discussing take aways and cuisines, let's not confuse americans into thinking we don't have some of those in UK 😂 she's comparing maybe Yorkshire to Florida, not Britain. Idk about Yorkshire, but in London we have all those cuisines, Indian food is everywhere, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, we don't have as much south american except in South london independent shops, because most latinos live in south london but we have alot of CARIBBEAN everywhere else, and african, loads of caribbean food, Jamaican. We have mostly chinese take aways everywhere more than anything but also.. HELLO! You left out KFC! & Burger king is everywhere in London and other big cities too, but sad to hear your food options are so shite in wherever in UK you were living. America in general is big on fast food which I don't consider a positive, I'd wonder if Florida has alot of actually NICE restaurants though? You miss English food? Meaning fish & chips and Sunday roast? Because that's about it and it isn't hard to make anywhere in the world lol
@Gloomshadow100Ай бұрын
we got a shit ton of good restaurants here, awesome steak houses and Cajun food etc ect just be ready to pay for it. Thing is, most real Southerners cook at home, restaurants can't compete Dollar for dollar with what we can cook. Food is a religion in the South .

@@3506Dodge LMAO. UK is a whole different world than the USA trust me. I live in Scotland & oh god. Comparing the two is you’d be mega excited to go on holiday to the USA but you wouldn’t be excited to go to UK as much. It is completely different. We have different laws, stricter gun laws & free healthcare & education over here and America doesn’t so it basically is. It’s a whole diff country.

@@elliejane6547 I lived in Kent for several years. It's not that different. Kazakstan is 'different'. Saudi Arabia is "different.' For Brits to describe the U.S. as another planet "out" there as if it's an alien world is silly.
