How much is car insurance in states? Here in UK its usually at least 2000-3000 per year for young driver sometimes its even more expensive than that. If you say this is cheap so how much is it in states?

Lol....I loved hearing your thoughts on living in Florida. So excited to find another Florida person! I think people consider Florida drivers horrible in the cities especially Orlando because there are so many tourists. I agree with you. The portion sizes here in the U.S. is much bigger. The sweet potato casserole is a southern dish! 😁 it’s really good if it’s made properly. Lol....we survived the Florida summer to be able to live in our Florida winters. I actually used to live in the UK for a few years...and I am so very familiar with UK winters. It was shocking when I moved there in a January and it was pitch dark at 3 pm. It was a lot to get used to! Great overview! 😁

@@rosiealice6855 I can imagine, my mum and dad used to have a villa in Hampton lakes down the 27 off the 192. They have friends over there, some who have opened business. One even won the green card lottery through an Irish passport as her dad was Irish. It seems easier for Irish to be able to move there than us Brits! When you live in a tropical area like Florida then you take vacation in the fall, say around beginning of October and you spend a week either in Vermont or New England to see the colorful trees, or you go to Pennsylvania to see the beautiful colors, and maybe go to the Amish Dutch Country that would make you feel like you're in Europe.

Interesting to hear from someone who has moved out there what it's like! When we came earlier in the year we loved all the food options in the supermarkets but very little/ no vegan options in places like IHOP and cheesecake factory which was a shame, think the uk is a little ahead in that sense! But we loved wholefoods! I think I'd be the same, I'd miss the autumn leaves changing too and I do like winter but after Christmas it can get pretty depressing which is why we loved visiting florida in January!

@robertthill4564
@robertthill4564 2 жыл бұрын
Rosie - I think the reason your FL driving test was so minimal is because you were already considered a licensed driver. Here in Wisconsin, you would be legal to drive with a UK license. If you established residency, you would need to apply for a license. BTW, our seasons are probably similar to the UK and many of us like to visit Florida to escape winter, especially as we get older.

Hi Robert! I believe that’s how driving tests are in Florida as I waited for my appointment in the parking lot and watched the young drivers take their exams. I’ve never been to Wisconsin! Do you recommend visiting or seeing anywhere in particular?
@patrickb4750

Hey Rosie, I'm a Brit who moved to Wisconsin about 7 years ago 😊The seasons are nice but the best ones (Spring & Fall) are short and Winters are BRUTAL at times, and as I get older it's definitely going to be a factor. I'm thinking about either the east of west coast of Florida, do you think you'll be happy there long term or are the negatives leading you to want to move eventually? Mosquitos are a bane in WI too, my logic is that the coastal FL breeze will help there... or is that wishful thinking? 😆

Hey!! I’ve never been to Wisconsin! Same with Florida, we don’t have a fall but our “winter” Is short. It’s already back in the 80s here! It is lovely here, I guess it depends on what you prefer, I can’t wait to start going back to the beach now it’s warming up... But then in the summer it always feel too hot to do things. We’re planning to move ASAP and I think when we have more land and privacy we will enjoy life more here too. We’re central Florida too so the hurricanes don’t hit us too hard I’ve heard! 💕

Thai and Japanese are easily available in England or at least in the big cities, you can get Shake Shack too. As for the weather I would of thought you would still need to plan, as every year I go to Orlando and it rains so much. And back too the food it’s like they put three spoons of sugar in every meal. And generally speaking it is more processed even from the restaurants not to mention the hormones fed to the animals etc. Also it is petrifying as a pedestrian to cross the road in Florida and drivers are turning even when it’s White man UK Green man. That is plain simply wrong and dangerous and one year I was hit. So I don’t think the roads are safer, most definitely, not for pedestrians!

This was my perspective of living in England. I always had to travel over an hour to get different varieties of food whereas it’s readily available where I live in Florida. I would be curious to get your thoughts / opinions on: Holidays / vacation, sick days, etc. in your job in the US compared to the UK (many Americans say its very bad), paying for healthcare vs NHS, police (if you've seen anything or had any interactions with them), in the US they say typically you have to drive everywhere - is that true, what about the gun culture - have you seen / noticed this at all?
@rosiealice6855
@rosiealice6855 Жыл бұрын
Hi! @douglasmcclelland so in terms of paid time off you accumulate it as you work, you don’t automatically get it like I did when I worked in England. Which sucks but overall I still have more money in my pocket compared to England; including taking out health insurance which I pay nearly $1000 a month for. As of yet I haven’t had any experience with police and hopefully won’t 🤞🏼 but there are bad ones I’m sure, although I’m sure there are bad cops in England. Yes we do have to drive everywhere, you can’t Walk to the corner shop, although by distance you probably could however to my local store there’s roads with no sidewalk and obviously in Florida it’s hot. Hun culture is what it is. I personally believe with all the shootings it should be harder to get them, it’s at a point where people want them so they can defend themselves from the bad people that have them.

@@rosiealice6855 agreed Cuban food is missing (although when I went to Cuba I'd say the US version is much nicer than the authentic one!) and good Mexican food (outside of Mexico) is also sthg you only really get in the US but I'd say the Italian restaurants in London are better (at least in my experience having lived in London for 9 years now!)

@@3506Dodge LMAO. UK is a whole different world than the USA trust me. I live in Scotland & oh god. Comparing the two is you’d be mega excited to go on holiday to the USA but you wouldn’t be excited to go to UK as much. It is completely different. We have different laws, stricter gun laws & free healthcare & education over here and America doesn’t so it basically is. It’s a whole diff country.

@@elliejane6547 I lived in Kent for several years. It's not that different. Kazakstan is 'different'. Saudi Arabia is "different.' For Brits to describe the U.S. as another planet "out" there as if it's an alien world is silly.
