Also going for my back to back. The Nimbus 25's were great for me last year so bought another pair for this one. I have a feeling it will be hot this year so will be happy to finish. Love your videos on your experience here. You should add Two Oceans to your bucket list, more beautiful... and arguably tougher.

Hi Kieran, Thank you for the update. This year, I will be running my first Comrades. Initially, I was planning to run with the Saucony Speed 4’s. However, I have found that they do not provide sufficient underfoot protection on runs longer than 90 minutes. Therefore, I have made the decision to use Asics Novablast 4. They are not too heavy, quite stable, and offer lots of firm cushioning. Wishing you all the best with your taper and hoping to see you in Durban. Regards, Matti

@Manvmiles6 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. Feels good to be back making vids again for this channel. Ghost Max is heavier and more cushioned but I think still has a bit of snap to it for my middling to slower pace. The protection and comfort is what draws me to it for this race. I don't need foot fatigue at mile 40. I've been doing a really in depth side by side test of the Oura 3 and the Ultrahuman. Oura by far the better ring. I'm not convinced anyone needs a smart ring though.

The excitement of Comrades build-up is just about ready to bubble over here in SA. Can't wait to line up for my first up run this year. I'm sure you will comfortably earn another Bill Rowan this year Kieran. In fact, with your sub-3 marathon you could even be a silver medal contender according to lots of the traditional Comrades time calculations. Best of luck! My personal goal is 9:30, which will probably be a stretch for me but I am to give it a proper go.

HEY Kieran, nice to see you again!! Not at all surprised for most of those shoes, though I did raise my eyebrows a bit at the Ghost Max... a shoe I've been very curious about , so it's nice to know that it has enough energy return to at least include in your short-list, however I'm thinking you won't end up choosing it possibly for exactly that reason, not quite enough energy return in fact! Very curious to see!! AND if you'll also choose a backup shoe too, just in case!! 2 weeks are gonna fly by, you must be starting to feel the nerves a bit! I'm feeling slightly nervous myself 'cause tomorrow I've got a trail marathon with 1200m elevation gain, certainly my biggest to date, so that's gonna hurt!!😬😆😃

I'm glad to see that you're back in berlin this year. I saw you there at the start and saw later that we had the same story at the race. If we run the route the other way around this year, we'll have to cross the party mile at night. That will be “fun” after 90 miles. Not.

Felt like I had unfinished business. Good you’re coming back too. I’ve heard about the party mile section at 90 miles. Sounds like a culture clash. But then in my experience not much is fun after 90 miles 😂

Good video manvmiles! I absolutely agree! Ever since I first got my Garmin watch in summer of 2021 I feel like my running has went backwards and half and full went backwards. Before I got my Garmin watch I started with a Fitbit charge watch 2017-2020 when I first started running and ran most of my runs and long runs by feel no gps just heart rate with Fitbit. Turning off the gps had me run by feel and it also gave me a faster pace than what I was actually running which actually gave me more confidence when I ran my half and full marathons. I ran a 4 hour 1 min full marathon as my best back in 2019 in 70 degree weather. Then when I got my Garmin watch I got obsessed with pace all time and next 2 marathons were 416 and recently last one 418 where I absolutely blew up after mile 18. It’s been really frustrating always chasing a target pace. I feel like I lost my michondria and endurance since getting gps watch. I’m gonna start running with my Fitbit again and just have Garmin track heart rate try build my zone 2 up again . I feel like always chasing faster pace has hurt my running
