These clutches should last 150kkm easily. You’re due for the spline lube anyways somewhere in the middle of that to keep shit together. 1150 had the clutch plate wrongly designed so it would be good to replace it with the improved part. Apart from that these are very good bikes 1100/1150 And I consider 1100 lineup already classic along with r80, r100

Hi, the fork bars often have rust on the top, no matter how much you clean it, some of it usually remains and the chrome plating on the bar is lifted. When you insert the new seal, it damages it and the forks end up losing oil again after a few months. It is advisable to tape the "dirty" part so that the seal is not damaged when inserted. google translation...
@vroomroom12 ай бұрын
@@gcalassa great tip, thanks mate
@Jodyrides2 ай бұрын
you can pull those bottom bolts out and drain the forks first thing, if you leave the forks attached to the bike, use your impact to loosen those bottom bolts and remove them while the forks are still on the bike. Then you can drain the oil without having a mess while the tubes are still in the steering clamps.. then loosen the top caps while the four tubes are still clamped in the clamps. that is one bolt you must loosen while the tubes are still in the clamps … You don’t need an impact for that. Just the right size socket, or a large crescent wrench or the correct size wrench. when driving the new seals into the fork slider, use the old seal to push the new ones in.. I also use grease on my seals before I install them.. The fork seals on my recent purchase in 2023, of a 2010 NT 700 from the original owner, does not need new fork seals. So whenever I pull the forks to change the oil which is now here in 2024 - 14 years old with about 8700 miles on the bike, I’m going to change the oil but not the bushings or the seals. I’m just going to change the oil on my nt700, and I am going to change the oil on my big machine at the moment, my Yamaha royal star venture. There is a clash of ideas between myself and Yamaha. In the owners manual for my Yamaha royal star venture. On the maintenance chart in the owners manual, it indicates that there is no need to ever change the fork oil… I absolutely disagree with that, if, for no other reason, the forks on the Yamaha royal star venture are air forks.. Air that the owner of the machine or the mechanic working on the machine puts in from an air hose from air that comes from a compressor.. you adjust the air pressure in Air Force maybe more often than checking or adjusting air pressure in tires.. that air has moisture in it. Over the years, my Yamaha royal star venture may only have 36,000 miles on it, but it has been getting moisturized air in the forks for 16 years. I wonder how much water is in those forks after 16 years.. that is why I am going to change the fork oil, going against my owners, manual recommendation.. I am also not going to change the fork seals on my Venture while I have the fork tubes out. Because they’re not leaking. .. One of the things that makes fork seals go bad is, dried bugs on the fork tube where the seal goes over it. Every time you clean your windshield or your face shield, if there are bugs on there, your forks have bugs on them too. So you need to clean your fork tubes in the wipe area where the seal passes over as often as you clean your windshield or your face shield… it’s not a bad idea to put gators over the four tubes now while you have the forks off to protect the wipe area of the fork tube from not only bugs, but rocks that get kicked up by cars you are following..

I just picked up a NT 700 with 7500 miles on it here in the end of 2023. I had some issues with it because it sat since 2015 in the original owners garage. He finally decided to sell it. He had stabilizer in the gas tank. On my channel on KZbin, I have what that stabilizer did inside the gas tank. It ended up stranding me 40 miles from home, because that stuff plugged the fuel filter inside the gas tank I also re-searched known problems with these bikes, they have two, bad, spark, plug caps once they get old. The symptoms of bad, spark plug cabs is hesitation when you turn the throttle coming out of corners, or starling occasionally at stop signs or red lights when you go to pull out. I replace my spark plug cabs and it’s been running beautiful ever since. I have also had twoHonda Pacific coast motorcycles, I have had two of those because my first one got totaled with me on it. Waiting at a stop sign one morning on my way to work. It was the most profitable paid nine month vacation of my life.. I replaced that pacific coast with another one that I commuted on for the next 24 years. The NT700 and the Pacific coast are very similar, in a few ways the Pacific coast is better, in other ways the NT 700 is better.. i’ve had many many many dozens of motorcycles over the decades. I proclaimed the Pacific coast to be the best motorcycle in the history of the universe. I rode mine six days a week to work, and then I would ride on Sundays for fun with my buddies, it had a few things that needed updating like, there were only two tire manufacturers that made sets of tires for the Pacific coast. Metzler and Dunlop… because I was commuting, the tires never did last more than 4500 miles. That is the toughest miles on tires is stop and go commuting, especially here where we have lots of hills… fuel, injected, bikes, when the battery goes flat, you are not gonna be able to push that thing and catch it in gear to start it. You need a good battery to power the fuel pump, the fuel injection system, and the ignition system, all at the same time. That’s why I make a jumper cables out of power cords from dishwashing machines or washing machines that are discarded. I have a couple videos on my KZbin channel showing how I did that and why. carburetors were always get you home. That’s one good thing about the carburetors.. I finally have my 2010 Honda nt700 owner sorted. I’ve done some changes hopefully for the better, on eBay I bought a set of gold wing replacement foot pegs. They are wider and longer and they go right on. They were $17.50 on eBay, free shipping, a slightly taller windshield that has a curve to it at the top. And it does a very good job of reducing buffing. .. I put Helibar Bar risers on my machine. They move the bars back 3 inches and up 5 inches. of course I replaced the spark plug caps which are a subject of almost recall by Honda when they discovered that these things caused problems, especially in hotter climates. Rather than do a worldwide recall they just decided to replace the spark plug caps on every NT 700 that ever comes into a Honda dealership for free. I also put foam grips on. I had heated grips on at the end of 2023, and into 2024 here in western Pennsylvania USA. But I didn’t like the field so I took them off and put foam grips on.. I will be putting the heated grips back on here pretty soon for the best time of year to ride, October, November.. I also got the color matched trunk with the rack. At first, I wasn’t crazy about the look, but it has become so. indispensable, especially in cool weather, when I like to carry my heated vest, and an additional turtleneck sweatshirt, and maybe the liner for my leather jackets in addition to all the other necessities, like things to clean the windshield of bugs, Mabs, basic tools, rain, suit, electric tire pump and plug kit, water, first aid kit, jumper cables, things like that.. this machine has become my do it all machine except for long distance. I have a Yamaha royal star venture, my third, Venture since 1986. I just like them. They are as simple as a VW air cooled bug to work on, and they have no known faults… I had a GL 1800 Goldwing. Really a pain in the ass to work on just doing simple things like just change the near filter. If you take it to a shop to have it done that’s five hours labor at $125 an hour just to change the air filter.. it’s a 20 minute job on a venture to change both air filters, one on each side.. anyway, I’m getting carried away, I’m looking forward to watching your videos on KZbin to pick up little tidbits. Here in Western Pennsylvania I have only seen one other auntie 700 in my life, and that was at a dealer, he was selling it, I never impulse buy I always think about it, when I went back to buy it a few days later it had already sold. But since then, I have never seen one of these machines on the street ever. They are rarer than hens teeth…

@1wheeldrive751Ай бұрын
@ - yes, I didn’t see those clutch plates until after I did the repair. But I’m thinking if your main seal or the clutch o-ring is leaking, you’ll probably want to fix that even though the disk might not be ok. I put a stock new disk in mine along with the viton o-ring and a new rear main seal, though the seal wasn’t actually leaking at all, just the original o-ring. I also cut a groove in the mounting surface of the clutch slave and ditched the gasket, rather than drilling the hole in the transmission casting. That way if I wanted to go back to stock configuration a new slave and gasket would do that.
@suzyamerica4679Ай бұрын
@@1wheeldrive751 Don't laugh, but a friend of mine did an emergency repair while I was on the road, just so I could get home. He replaced the leaking clutch slave seal with an O-ring of the right size, then tested it to above 100psi pressure. It held nicely. It's still in there. I'm watching the clutch reservoir regularly for signs of the O ring beginning to fail. At least if it leaks now it shouldn't do much harm. A friend of mine (1150RT owner) told me to understand that BMW uses fairly low grade OEM parts, and that I should replace things with aftermarket upgraded parts. Hence the oil resistant clutch friction disc and other things.
