I don’t think performance was the reason why the Groves didn’t give Richie a second year his on camera stuff wasn’t the best if I was putting in millions of dollars into a team I wouldn’t be happy. I don’t think he likes the off track stuff which to me is just as important than the on track stuff it seems to me he isn’t motivated to do it 24/7 he’s not very personable and doesn’t like anything that’s outside of his race car. I’ll probably cop a lot of flack for this but it’s what I see on tv and at the track.

The more the cost has gone up and the mechanics replaced by race techs the more my interest went down. Supercars chased the corporate buck thinking it was health for the sport but away from the gc bubble they're in NOBODY is talking about the racing on any jobsite and haven't for years now. If we had another category then it would be no argument Supercars losing bathurst. The entire fkn field should be worth a million dollars not one fkn car and for what, they look like shit and the racing whilst technically brilliant it's just not the aussie style. Our cars were absolute dogs, a compromise from conception which was why it was amazing to watch especially for non motorsport ppl who actually made the sport we have today not the corporates writing off tax and to staying for more than 10 minutes in the tents. If you want gt3 racing then just get gt3 cars and lets formulate a simple tin rwd bassic head n cam pakage car to just take racing with the bbq being the most important thing in the pits. Enough of the strret race will fix it attitude ffs they only have half a street circuit on the gc when that og track was probably one of the top 3 street circuits of all time, the coast never looked better that from a chopper filming the pack jumping on the picks at 280 on that epic straight. I remember running out on the sand to a car that could've been a taxi,cop car, family car but it instead was parked backwards in a sand trap in a hail storm with the first bloke to reach radasich screaming remember the skyline at bathurst ya just won the race. The dude had his little operation with carrara markets on the back and mconvil still rocking a el and strong till the right front fell off. Nobody's going home with memories like that now, theres no stiring up the hrt crowd with a djr flag. It's all about the racing but also nothing to do with it at the same time because I'll fight harder than anyone that the racing is brilliant which is great for us who are probably less than a percentage point of the population who are racers. However here i am watching American le mans stuff and wec because if I'm watching that type of driving then I watch the better equipment so the only ppl a million dollar car shiny truck and a buch of ppl with letters after they're name is impressing is the corporate sponsors.

The 'finals' idea is an absolute travesty. I think the idea is to try and engage people who may really only be once-a-year Bathurst viewers by creating a largely artificial competition element for the three races after Bathurst that fall between footy and cricket seasons. It also creates the likelihood the title will be decided by the result of the final race in Adelaide to generate 'drama' right to the end.

V8 Supercars is on life support. It has become an irrelevant category in Australian motorsport to more and more motorsport fans. The racing is boring and the cars lack their own character thanks to remote corporate control by non motorsport people.. Bring back a proper Australian Touring Car Championship. the best change to media rights would be to bring back full round free to air coverage. not highlights at 3am. the fans made supercars. the broadcasts get FANS hyped about going to an event. FANS go to event, where most of the staff are volunteers, then the FANS pay exorbitant prices for merch. where are supercars without the fans? more concentration on letting people afford to enjoy the sport.

Oscar is a great driver.and has a solid future in F1. I see him at Sainz level which is very good. Last year he seemed to do better in qualifying than this year and I suspect thats because the car wasn't as good and Lando was experimenting trying to find ways of driving it and sometimes they were good and sometimes not. Now the car is competitive Lando is now consistent with eight poles and its clear that Oscar is not as quick. The idea that good tyre management comes with more laps is true up to a point. Most drivers reach a certain level .The really good ones are Lewis and Lando. Max has said that Lando goes faster at the end of races. I hope Oscar improves more and can take the fight to Lando on a regular basis. He has done over 50 races which would have been three years a few years back so is no rookie. He is a great driver for Mclaren.with a guaranteed future .

If we are serious about making Bathurst great again, I think the most obvious answer is to make it a stand alone race again. Having it as part of the championship creates too many focus points other than winning. Bathurst should be a win at all costs race. Having it as a separate race would also free up the rule book regarding international drivers, co-drivers, etc. It would give them freedom to custom make rules just for the one race without having to consider the impact on regular round events.
@jason789814 күн бұрын
agree
@alex-lu2nt4 күн бұрын
Having a stand alone race won't change a thing as the car is the main issue, they're driving to a number out there due to the lack of grip and braking stability so they can't setup an overtake cause they'll most likely bin the car.

My opinion is the cars need more horsepower and harder to drive. The drivers are at such a high level now so the cars need to be even harder to drive.
@alex-lu2nt4 күн бұрын
With all due respect this is just stupid cause these cars are already hard to drive with the lack of mechanical grip and downforce. Without mechanical grip or downforce or component variables you get the boring Gen 3 racing. Qualifying has been great but racing has been a follow the pack and driving to a number. Also with the lack of overall grip the drivers cannot dive bomb or overtake under braking like they used to under the Blueprint, COTF and Gen 2 cause the Gen 3 is way too stable under brakes and prone to rear locking. The narrative that less downforce/ grip and making the cars harder to drive has proven to be a failure with the Gen 3 under racing conditions cause drivers just can't have a go anymore and before you bring up Nascar with the horsepower that they have you should know that they generate a lot of downforce with the undertray hence why they run the cars stiff and low to the ground. A Nascar on a road course these days produce more grip than a Gen3.
@adrenalinjunky13 күн бұрын
@ I didn’t bring up NASCAR but the cars do need more horsepower. I know a couple of drivers personally and they’ve said exactly that. They just want more horsepower. Since you brought up NASCAR maybe Supercars can look at their platform and use a big undertray so the cars can actually follow closely and pass.
@gerardcrabb45563 күн бұрын
The engines are breaking at current power you would have to spend Gen 2 money to get reliable power increase...
@alex-lu2nt3 күн бұрын
@@adrenalinjunky1 Interesting that the drivers want more power and want the cars to be harder to drive when they're already extremely hard to drive. I have conversed and raced a lot of them on iRacing and even had hour long vocal conversation on discord with some of them and the last thing they mentioned was the lack of horsepower so I'll be really interested as to who the drivers are.
