@@NiklasKontio You know, I watched a documentary one time about bullying in schools. A kid was being bullied on the bus and her parents wanted something done about it, so the principal sat on the bus for a day. She told the girl’s parents she saw nothing problematic and there was no bullying. This is what I think of whenever anyone refers to Bp Schneider and his opinion of the SSPX. Do you think they’re going to display their problematic tendencies when a visitor from Rome is there? It honestly perplexes me why people think they’re not in schism. @clelia8885 Refusal to submit to Rome or be in communion with those subject to the Pope. The SSPX submits to Rome and is in communion. To say they arent is to commit a schismatic act.

@@NiklasKontio If the documents do contain errors, how did so many “traditional” bishops vote in the affirmative on them? Were they all either malicious or stupid? Vatican II was passed with a 98.6% approval rate. Kind of alarming if the documents contain positive errors and they slipped past so many bishops.

Most people I know who go to TLM are adamantly against Sign of Peace and don’t even know it’s done at Solemn High Mass. Or if they do know they say it’s fine there but not at the Ordinary Form.

I can't speak for other TLM attendees. My issue isn't the Kiss of Peace itself. It's WHERE it's placed in the NO. Every high church from the beginning until the NO had the KoP before the Offertory. NOT right before the Agnus Dei. That's a problem to me. I do not participate in it at the NO. During and after consecration our attention should be squarely focused on Christ. I kneel and say the Jesus prayer with my head bowed until the Agnis Dei.

@@guesswho22peekaboo - It does not matter where they put the Sign of the Peace. The same reasoning could be used before the Offertory too in terms of an issue. The bottom line is that people use it as an excuse to not interact with the other faithful at all. It does not take that much work to reestablish focus after loving our neighbor.

@guesswho22peekaboo Pretty sure the KoP is in the same place essentially at a Solemn High Mass as it is in the Ordinary Form; it might even be after the Agnus Dei at the SHM if memory serves correctly. The church is allowed to put it where she deems it appropriate! It is always supposed to be respectful, and you can easily model a respectful sign of peace to those who are not the most respectful. I honestly really love the sign of peace as the whole point is to make peace with our brothers and sisters before receiving the Eucharist - how often did all of us bicker as kids on the way to Mass 😅 lol

@CatholicDays Not only is the Pope not teaching infallibly in this case he’s not even teaching at all, or if he is, it carries negligible magisterial weight. The Pope was giving an informal address to a group on an overseas trip. The second Vatican Council said submission to the pope’s authentic magisterium. His official teaching is given according to his manifest mind and will and his mind and will in the matter may be known either from the character of the documents, from his frequent repetition of the same doctrine or from his manner of speaking. In other words, a one-off comment in an informal setting has no magisterial weight in comparison to many official statements that say the opposite.

@CatholicDays In Francis’ encyclical joy of the Gospel, he said No one is saved by himself or herself individually or by or her own efforts. And evangelization is first and foremost about preaching the gospel to those who do not know Jesus Christ or who have always rejected him in 2016 homily the Pope said. Thus it is all very clear one cannot enter into eternal life through another way that is not the door that is which is not Jesus.

Thomas Aquinas would be appalled at the SSPX 😂 They also tend to get his theology wrong lol.

Considering Lefebrve flat out disobeyed the Pope in consecrating bishops, thereby excommunicating himself, call me skeptical. Also, when the Supreme Pontiff says the issues that separate the SSPX are doctrinal, one should take a step back and reexamine ones stance on issues.

@ Considering that Pope Francis has never said such a thing, and allowed a Diocesan bishop to retire in their seminary walls in Econe, I pray tell… did Poor Francis commit an act of schism himself by allowing that? At the very least, scandal and at most for your floppy position, schism. So the Pope allowed sin? Time will tell, and I pray you begin to not worship the letter of the law (which you are doing because you are arrogant). But I wouldn’t call you arrogant if I wasn’t also. Just saying.

Pope Benedict XVI is the one who spoke of their doctrinal error. Allowing a bishop to retire is not the same thing as putting a stamp of approval on the SSPX and their ministry. SSPX will only return to Rome on their own terms - and seeing as how they have turned down some very generous offers from Rome in the past, it’s not looking well for them. Also want to point out that it’s not slander to talk about things posted publicly on the internet 😂
