Washington State Should I just wait it out? I called sportsman's warehouse and was told I'm on a delayed status and was told I should just wait it out? I'm just wondering how long I should wait until I try doing anything about it. I just got my cpl in the mail after filling out my background check form. Thank you in advance. I filled out the paperwork on Halloween.

I just did my first background check today, to buy a gun for myself. I got to question 21a and didn't realize it was a yes question. Especially since I noticed every other question was a no. Frick. I need to read better. The store didn't submit it but they wouldn't sell me a shotgun

Question: as far as cerakoting goes, I'm reading that you must be cerakote certified also, however I personally haven't been impressed with cerakote, as a professional automotive painter, I'm experimenting with auto paint and I'm wondering will I need any certification other than my 07 FFL if I decide to use auto paint instead of cerakote? I'm assuming I'll still need something but not sure what. I'm a seasoned engraver, polisher, painter and artist but I'm new to the gun side of customization. The FFL fees aren't bad at all but cerakote has lost their damn mind lol. $2200 to get "certified" in something I already know how to do and learned for free on KZbin is ridiculous and sounds like a forced moneygrab

I answered a question on the form wrong ,it was kinda funny how it was worded but I guess it's better to really take your time and read the questions 2 times but easy to mess up

Yep. It kind of sucks as a dealer because it’s against the law for us to coach you on answering. All we can do is point you to the instructions. I actually had a talk with somebody last week about this very thing, I still do my forms on paper because if somebody answers “wrong” I like to be able to ask “tell me about this” with regard to their answer. A lot of times it’s a deal like yours where they misunderstood and I point them to the instructions and then they say “oh i should have answered no” so we do the legal correction on the form. Digital systems don’t have a way to do that.

Nothing about that sounds right. How old are you? I’ve not heard of a long wait unless it’s a long gun and under 21. NICS needs to be run when you do the paperwork. This really sounds off. I’d maybe call and ask to speak to a different person than who handled your transaction. Ask about the status, when it was transmitted to NICS and for the NTN (NICS Transaction Number). Delays can get changed to a proceed or deny at any time, there’s no magic 21 day timer.

I did. You don’t have to fully remove anodization, just achieve a proper profile through proper overall prep and blasting.

If your state isn’t on the NICS exemption list where a carry permit forgoes an additional check, yes going through the VAF process to get a UPIN would be the next logical step. Good luck!

If you read the instructions for questions 21c - 21 m for prohibited purchases, there are exceptions to someone who was previously convicted of a felony and who has now been pardoned or have their conviction expunged, can legally answer question 21d with a NO.

What if I applied a few years ago and was denied by NICS, they cited 18 USC 922 (G) (9) for a DV charge I had in 2007, but I went on to have my entire record annulled (all took place in NH)?

It depends? You have to know the exact charge and what the potential jail time could have been for that charge.

I just tried to but an sig p365 at rural and messed up on the question about selling it in furtherance of a felony. I thought it meant if I would get rid of my gun if I got a felony so I pressed yes lmao. Hopefully I can call firearms compliance and get it fixed up.

The form wouldn’t have been processed. Unless you’re in a state that has some obscure law that requires them to report those types of things. Some companies also have a 30 day policy before they let you fill out a form again or they can refuse because of how you did previously. But human error doesn’t exclude you. You’ll just have to fill out the form properly next time.

Just because you have a criminal record doesn't meen your a prohibited person what will stop you a felony, a conviction on a domestic violence, or if you have been charged with a misdemeanor that carried a sentence that would exceed a year so it doesn't matter if you have 30 convictions for misdemeanor charges if they dont fall under those 3 they cannot deny you a firearm and if they do fight it people dont fold people make mistakes especially when they are younger so if you have been in a lot of trouble when you were lets say in your 20's and you straightened your life out and you are in your 40's and decide you want a gun you have every right to own a firearm i dont know exactly what they look at but I'm pretty damn sure that they look at how long its been since you have been in trouble and honestly if it has been 10 years or more that should show good character like i said no one is perfect and people can change so dont give up on your rights if something is worth a damn fight for it and your right to bear arms is worth it

If you read the laws and the form, a person is prohibited for a conviction of any crime that could have had a sentence of more than 1 year in jail. Specifically written as “…felony, or any other crime for which the judge could have imprisoned you for more than one year, even if you received a shorter sentence including probation.” An 18 yo kid that gets a dishonorable from the military can NEVER legally purchase a firearm again in their life. Not unless they go through the military to get it changed.

I’m in Michigan, a Cpl holder, licensed and registered with fingerprints because of my job with full FBI background check for my job and was delayed today, kind of ridiculous but I’ll wait and see.

Open at the federal level means it can be transferred. Your dealer may just not be willing to if it doesn’t proceed.

Delayed again in California: Got an arrest record sealed back in March; went to buy a gun in April: Delayed. Put it down to the DOJ having not received the info 5 weeks later Fast forward to September went to buy a gun ; Delayed Again WTH even after going to the trouble after they told me this needed doing they Delayed again I e mailed them and they sent me the generic letter that my name could be mixed up with someone else I now have about eight of these Generic letters this being the first on E mail I once had a friend tell me that once your Delayed for purchasing a firearm in California it will always be a delay, they will never rectify their system and not to bother spending money on Attorney

You have to work the process and appeal. Something could have been entered incorrectly, somebody else with the same name could have done something shady, you could have gotten a parking ticket you never “got” and it finally went to a bench warrant. It’s really tough to say.

I recently did the 4473 form. I was put on delay. But after 3 days, i bought the rifle. South Carolina here. The funny part is i took SC CWP class. Took the test and shooting test. Passsed both. Went and processed my fingerprints and the cwp paperwork. I got ahold of sled here in SC. Im getting my cwp license. Just a matter of mail delivery here. So delayed on the form, but passed the state background check. And i gotta do background checks every couple of years for my hazmat on my license

The state checks aren’t always the same as the federal ones. It really seems totally random sometimes.
