I’m only on my 2nd manual machine, but everything you say makes a lot of sense. I hope to one day be able to dial any kind of coffee bean in; my goal is to let the bean express itself - what I smell when I open the bag is what I want to taste in my cup. The flexibility the Decent machines offer is certainly enticing.

I can't believe I watched this whole thing but honestly I was at the 7 minute mark and next thing I know it's over lol. Great video, very informative, thank you. I'll be gentler with my portafilter going forward.

Still think the 2 versions below the XXL should come with 2-3 holes on the steam wand. Upgrading soon and this machine is high on my list. But still using a single steam wand hole on a machine over 2k,kinda want to expand both my espresso shots and my micro foam.

Decent started a trend. Now other mod makers for other machines now bringing out similar sysyems to add to espresso machine's and yes I'm eyeing this machine as my upgrade and final machine. So many ways to adjust everything is like having multiple espresso machine's types in one unit.

Did you perhaps mean "Milk flavor" instead of "coffee flavor", in regards to your comment about above 63 degrees C?

Curious, the reliability and longevity of decent is undisputed but is it an "appliance" (really good quality one) or is it an actual "machine"? Because from my understanding of the differences between the two, it seems like an exceptionally well made appliance?

why not resistance profile? shouldn't there be added pressure during the bloom, just a little?

My settings is a litle bit different from yours. Just wanted some clarification on this, so if I set the flow slower, it will give me a heavy body (towards bitter side) and vice versa. Is it correct? And how do I know if the flow is 'correct' or not?😅 Btw this is such a great video 😊

I received mine last week (you’re almost up to 10K machines, I’m guessing). I made something decent on the third try. That third try was the third espresso I’ve ever made. I’m even more stoked after watching this video. The ultimate tinkerer’s machine that can also make espresso a few minutes after it’s turned on. As simple or complex as you want. Love the passion you guys have. Keep it up!

Quick question are you using the XXL for this demo or the XL ( ie stronger steam wand ) does it matter ? Many thanks !

Every, and I mean every device being constantly on power will kill the battery, no matter the brand or the operating system. It's in the nature of the batteries, and it doesn't matter what type they are - they'll degrade much faster than if they have charge/discharge cycles.
@Diamonddrake
@Diamonddrake 21 күн бұрын
the caveat being unless the device was design for that not to be the case. circuitry exists to disconnect the battery and bypasses it while telling you that its fully charged even though its at roughly 80% because you're a battery abuser that keeps it plugged in all the time in the apple ipad for example.

Absolutely awesome engineering and build quality. As a hobbyist DIY maker I can only imagine the years of hard work and many thousands of hours of R&D and prototyping required to get the machine to this level. Thank you for sharing!

For the people complaining that they can't afford a Decent machine are the very same people who buy a new $1500 iPhone each year, drive expensive cars, eat out at restaurants, go to the movies, have several paid streaming services, go to the barbers, shop at designer stores and pay high rent to their landlord..
