I have a book report for after summer (in a few months), yet I decided to start with this right now??? What sort of reverse procrastination is this??? I honestly just want to spend my time reading books I enjoy more than school ones, though!

Personally for me, The story is about words, power of words in the face of oppression and war. As the story unfolds, words become the means of resistance towards nazi, where max uses words to depict the resistance in the basement. also the words take a different shape when used by the nazi where the hate speech fuels the war. Liesel's love for reading which brings her comfort and hope. And Hans and liesel bond over the words.

Good video, however, I slightly disagree with your point on the history of the story. While it is true that Crane intentionally remains vague as to the scope of the battle and the actual significance of the events taking place in the bigger picture of the war, Crane is also intending to focus on a particular human experience that is exclusive to the youth and his regiment, so I really don't see it as necessary for Crane to include such details (which could also end up cluttering the story and losing focus from the youth). The story is not about understanding the actual historical context of the events taking place, but rather to understand the youth's journey of self-discovery as seen through the lens of this particular historical setting.

"Sure Dad, you killed my neighbour's dog and you let me take the wrap for it even though I just found it with a pitchfork in it's body, and pretended my mum was dead when she wasn't, then tried to get me arrested again because I wanted to go see her, then coming to argue with her that meant we had to run away (again), but sure, I'll forgive you Dad😃".......... 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨 What The Actual Heck......????

Read the book😡 The father is a very loving father even though he did mistakes. The mother was no good mother nor good wife. She cheated and abandoned her family. What was the father supposed to say? Christopher, honey, your mother has left us and she doesn't come back. Maybe it was easier to pretend she was dead at that moment? Try to understand the father! I know he killed the dog but that wasn't intentional! Christopher and his mother makes my blood boil because first she abandon her family then shows up and take him away from his father. Christopher treats his father like a monster and never shows any love or gratitude towards him after all he does for him. If you ask me, the father deserves to be forgiven because he's a good man who tries his best.
