I don’t know why it is so hard to understand this point: no one is saying you don’t have struggles because you’re white. We’re saying the struggle you don’t have is being black in a country that systematically devalues blackness. That’s the one struggle you don’t have.
@KevinLynchMusic10 сағат бұрын
But that’s an assumption you’re making. Not every black person feels as you describe.
@anthonycloyd39222 сағат бұрын
@ You’re right. I am assuming you are not black. You could be black and I just don’t know. You appear to be white to me and that mere appearance of whiteness shields you from anti-black discrimination. What aren’t assumptions are the facts and statistics: The median overall wealth for Black families is $11,030, whereas for white families, it's $134,230. Black Americans represent 40% of the homeless population, despite making up only 13% of the general population Comparable homes in Black neighborhoods are worth 23% less than those in white neighborhoods . Black people make up 12.2% of the US population but account for 26.6% of total arrests, including 51.2% of murder arrests and 52.7% of robbery arrests . None of these mean you don’t have struggles. It just means you don’t have THESE struggles based on your race.

May be it's supposed to be that and why are you telling us wrong vocals your not even a singer
@idunnowhatimdoin2 күн бұрын
for anyone who didn't know, it's by design; they literally record a track (or several) where the singer just whispers, to get the consonants sounding like that. I call it the Jack Antonoff aesthetic. Funny thing is in the actual movie (vs the album), Ariana sounds way better.

Now that I’ve finally switched to MainStage, it doesn’t feel as expressive when I play since it’s Midi vs the actual keyboard. Is this normal? Idk how to get the sound as expressive and don’t know what to do

My theory is that she just pushed herself for so many years doing wicked to win those Tonys and make that coin yes she’s everyone’s favorite because of how she performed it but at what cost, she hit those notes to please the fans and I think it just ended up backfiring on her vocal health. My friend did the Ariel choreography and flew her he had a lot to say about working with her so yeah…. But I often wonder if anybody in the company ever saw vocal damage coming and tried to warn her or was just too scared to be yelled at. When you compare her first performance in wicked to now it’s a night and day difference yeah people age but all of her keys have to be changed, and the song has to be slowed in order for her to make it manageable it’s beyond the fact that she just needs a “music adjustment”. She used to be a vocal beast but this is what happens when you push yourself vocally for decades to impress people. When I saw her in Clearwater Florida live I swear she was drunk like seriously i think she drank to much before the show she was off key speech was slurring just a mess. I think years of damage is just catching up to her and she’s going to milk every last dime until she can’t even speak. She literally sacrificed her voice for the fans we wanted those high notes she gave them but this is what ended up happening🤦♀️

I would prefer this the other way around. Film more stage shows! I get that they don't want to ruin theatre but at the same time filming it would make it accessible for so many people and actually entice more people to go to live theatre. Hamilton got sooooo many people into theatre. I feel like filming more shows would actually boost the revenue of live theatre.
@KevinLynchMusic9 күн бұрын
YES THIS. I want to see more of the Broadway HD content being filmed. For those who can't see the staged version, it would be cool for more of the world to have access to see a filmed version of the stage show.
@hannahxx179 күн бұрын
@@KevinLynchMusic Even people that do have access to theatre but have never been before would be more likely to go after seeing it. I'll admit, filmed versions are great but live theatre is a million times better, but if seeing a filmed version of a show makes people want to go to a live performance then thats great. I live in a capital city in Australia and have decent access to shows but there has been a drastic difference in ticket availability since Hamilton. I have always done early access priority booking and used to get seats so easily. Now they put you in a virtual line that you can sit in for 45 mins to even look at seats. Theatre has become so much more popular just from people getting exposure through different avenues.

Playing in pits as a UK secondary school student (10th-grade for those across the pond) was possibly one of the biggest turning points for me and I will never back down on the fact that students can and should have the opportunity to play in musical pits. Sure, maybe it's not Broadway-quality sound (then again it's rather rare to find a Broadway-quality high school show!), but the experience never leaves you and enriches you in a way that basically no other music activity can. In that time, I played Bass for Sister Act & Bugsy Malone, then Keys 2 & Asst. MD for High School Musical - best experiences of my career so far; led me on into careers in technical theatre, now applying for universities to study sound design & stage management and taking every local pit & MD opportunity going!
@edonough9 күн бұрын
YES! Another tip for choreographing to a recording - have your rehearsal pianist or MD record the dance tracks for your choreographer! I can't tell you how many MD's I've seen scramble to chop up the music (many times against the rules of the rental company, I might add) just to make the counts work, and it ends up sounding .... weird.
