Hope you get back out there and have fun! Thanks for the comment I really appreciate. It’s hard after an injury for sure. My to this location in February was almost worse than my thumb break in December, because after the thumb break, I started wearing wrist guards, and I knew that I didn’t even fall when I broke it… So I’m just thinking, OK look out for things you can smack your hand on… Got over the fear really easily and not even two months later dislocated my toe and now I find myself more about my toe than my thumb ha ha. This instant reminder that I’m not invincible. It sucks… But I’m still having fun in trying to push myself, but within boundaries… and most importantly know he went to stop and wait for another day. Which goes against everything I knew about skating my entire life… It’s all about pushing through and trying so hard over and over and over and over again. So it’s hard to find balance these days. I’m finding I trust my gut

Yeah man... Also 35 here with no child but married. About 3 times a week is is what I can realistically manage, and it made me push a bit harder than I should to make the most out if my sessions. What I do realize now is when we keep doing one trick for more than 15 mins or so, you can't perform the movement properly due to fatigue, and your brain isn't learning anymore. In fact, it often ends up learning the way that is stopping you from landing the trick. So now I try to break up my sessions into 20~30 min chunks and try to move on to tricks that use a different muscle group, or place lowkey tricks like nocomply variations in between high energy tricks. It keeps things fun, and if I try nollie and switch tricks in the mix, I'm also keeping my joints safe from the imbalance that skating brings. Keep shredding!
@RealLifeSkater
@RealLifeSkater 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing! I like that a lot. I’ve always stated on one over and over but can relate that sometimes a little break then switching back to it later helps.

I'm a young guy, recently started a 9-5. Started skating in September and enjoying it lots just booting around. Working on ollies and struggling to commit to them and generally more cautious after my first real slam where I landed on my hip and scraped up my elbow pretty bad. It's so fun and I'm loving how supportive skaters are at my local. I'm already in my own head quite a bit but definitely became more aware of the fact that this is an inherently dangerous activity.

the sole is based off the Evant shoe which is fair since the Evant was based off the K3s. The insole can be better. They sell the foam separately which sucks. I'd get rid of the stock insole and put some good insoles and you're good.

41 here... i wear my pads everywhere except my tiny basement ramps, it might not have prevented your injuries but it might prevent future injuries... and losing weight at our age is 90% diet. I've skated daily for about 6 months and have lost zero weight... def better shape but no weight loss... i also found myself a few times procrastinating other responsibilities to go skate. I just try to remember the long term goal is to keep skating as long as possible, if i ignore other stuff, my wife will not be on board w this hobby... if you have the space i highly recommend the ramps at home...adds flexibility

Totally relatable bro. Getting hurt definitely gets in your head the older you get(I'm 53). Also, most married dudes won't admit it, but the "familial support" tends to dry up quick when you get bunged up. We're the same age. I know exactly what you're experiencing. I'm a professional writer and need my hands, so I'm always afraid of breaking a finger or wrist. My knees are also shit. For me it's all about skating as long as possible. Which means I limit myself to two sessions a week. It helps to have other hobbies. I go to the gym (cause I'm also too heavy right now), ride my bike around town, keep up with the latest movies, and play video games. Good luck, and we'll be here when you decide to upload. KZbin can always use more skaters our age!

Thanks man! Love this. Very much appreciate the comment and your input. You're totally right. I've been finding a daily routine and balancing things a bit better and I've found it's helped a lot. I think I missed skating for so long that when I finally had the time and got this channel, I DOVE IN! It reminded me when I first started skating. I had that fire. Then the injuries woke me up... and now I know I need a balance, limits, routine. I agree, would love more skaters our age on KZbin! Skating in general is already such a small niche on here, and skating at our age even more so haha. Thanks for watching.
