There isn't that must big of a difference between the two honestly. If you can get the fl at a good price then yeah it's still a great reel. The FM is also great but like I said not much difference between the two.

Square handle montage system is shit. Daiwa has hex handles in lower end reels and they have smaller play.

Not sure who he is working for but I hope he is good and doing well. I haven't really played with much of daiwa stuff. Reason being- 1. Its hard to get my hands on mag seal and 2 daiwa requires special tools to get into the reels. I'd stick with shimano because they are easy to maintain and don't require any fancy oil (like mag fluid). Besides that I've seen high end daiwa that had water intrusion.

Both can work for inshore fishing. They are seal the same way. Just that the miravel is a ci4 body which makesnit lighter.

Great video. Do you think you can find different drag washers an install them in the Shimano? I bet if you work with a lot of different reels you could come up with a way to mix and match certain things like that to upgrade the reels. Just purchase parts from a different manufacturer and install it on a different reel. Can you replace the bearings with some ultra high quality ones, maybe ceramic bearing like some people have done on casting reels?

There are parts that can be upgraded. But I honestly don't want to invest the money into it. Majority of the reels on this channel was bought with my own money. So having to invest in upgrading parts will throw me back on reels I want to buy and review in the future.

So I have both and one thing I noticed is the bail is to close to your hand on the miravel. At least when you have a cushioned foregrip. It’s so annoying because every other part of this reel is perfect for me considering weight. Nice looking, feeling, light, etc. The nasci on the other hand is just as nice. There is no issue with the weight. If anything it feels more substantial and solid with the same smoothness. No knuckle hitting on the nasci either! Nasci for the win and the price is better. Just my observations.

Thanks for the video. Shimano Exsence BB looks like a re-skined 21 ultegra in terms of tech and specs with seabass dedicated size. It's one level above the miravel imho.

I own the VI series in 3500/4500 and 7500LC, they all needed some break in time but became buttery smooth afterwards. After at least a hundred nights out with them I can say they are on par with the best reels I've owned. Not a single update required imho because they are totally bulletproof.

Ide love to see you compare the Shimano Miravel vs Daiwa Fuego LT. It seems to me like the extra 30 dollars canadian is a no brainier for the Miravel vs the Fuego esp for light saltwater salmon fishing.

It honestly comes down to your budget. The daiwa bg and penn spinfisher is more expensive than the shimano spheros. But the spheros provides all the sealing and in some areas better than the other 2. I'd always choose the spheros.

Most definitely!!! The very low end reel handle bigger Tarpon than that. I have customer that uses the fx series and catch huge Tarpon.

I use 10lb braid for juvenile Tarpons. If 10lb is too light for you try 15lb. But typically a shimano 4000 would hold (close to) or if not 200 yards depends on the brand of the line.

@@tackleaddictgy ive checked the line capacity, its less than 200 for 20 plus i gotta put backing, ive never had a tarpon make a big run before and id be targeting 30 pounders max with a 4000 size reel and a 7ft med rod. I had my mind made with the nasci but in my experience the weight of a reel is important especiallywhen you’re casting for the entire day. Then i saw the miravel was essentially the same thing except its lighter so idk if its the one for me. Im in the Caribbean so im only going for snook and tarpon

It's not always accurate what is stated on the reel in terms of line capacity and max drag force. I've packed 185 yards power pro 20lb ssv2 on a 4000 SHIMANO. I know the exact amount because I used a line counter when spooling. Which country in the Caribbean you at?

You can swap the drag washers instead of the entire spool.

i got one recently and i had higher expectations. The plastic bail arms are trash and the sound and feel is rough i also got a 40$ shimano sienna it has stainless steel bail arms 100x smoother but has awful slack and wobble in the handle shaft, im not rich and paying almost 250 ca for the penn i was/am saddened wish i went with a saltwater shimano in same price range

Stradic and vanford are both different reel. Stradic are built like a tank. it's purpose is to catch bigger fish. The Vanford are for small - medium fish. You can dunk your stradic and won't have any problem at all.

I would like to know if the area where the handle is situated is metal or plastic on the Spheros? The only issue most of my friends have with Shimano reels is that the plastic screw in piece at the base of the reel when cracked takes too long to get that part. Thank you for your support and kind words. I have a full tear down video of both reels on the channel. Maybe you can have a look. But the reel foot and stem along with that half of the side plate connected to it is fully metal. The other half is plastic. Sorry to hear parts are hard to source for Shimano reels at your location.

I have both. Both are great reels. Apart from materials of the body the main difference is the drag stack.

In my opinion the Miravel is smoother when spinning than the Nasci... The Miravel feels almost like the Stradic. The Nasci is more often for sale for a lower price - so in reality the price-difference is bigger😊

At 2:20 you have text on screen reading "Really dumb on my part not to turn the spool before taking out the handle and drag compression washers". Can you explain what you mean by turning the spool and why you would need to do so? I am looking to install a drag clicker in my new SLX DC XT and I haven't seen anyone mention turning the spool as part of the installation steps. I just want to make sure I don't do anything wrong.

It's nothing major to worry about. If my memory serves me right I had the drag backed all the way off so I had alittle trouble getting I think it was a nut off. I corrected it by assembling and engage the drag. It's nothing to worry about just follow the same steps. Becareful when taking apart your slx dc xt. I had troubles with couple of screws that ended up stripping.

It was a mistake on my part. I didn't let the knob sit properly over the bearing before tightening the screw. It was corrected and it's spinning as it should.
