If/When you come back. Take a trip out to Richmond Park, and walk among the deer. There's nothing quite like spotting a huge stag coming the other way, and between you, agreeing to avoid each other by 10 meters or so.

Oh, that was hilarious, as well as a bit sad... I only very recently learned that the reason Native Americans were called 'Indians' by early European explorers was because they'd set out to circumnavigate the world, and, unaware of the existence of the Americas, had assumed they'd arrived in India. I don't know what you usually do for a living, Cody, but you have such a wonderful gift for entertaining, engaging, educational communication, I hope it's something in that field...or will be in your future, perhaps...? <3

When I worked at Madame Tussaud's (the famous historical Waxworks Museum and Planetarium) back in the early '70s I loved my lunchtime wanders through Regents Park, watching the ducks and enjoying the scenery there. It was always crowded and frenetic at work, and the Park was a little ocean of peace and nature connection that helped keep me happy and centred. I'm not sure, but would guess it might be quieter there (in the Park, I mean) on weekends generally, since many of the people who use it regularly would be city workers. If you haven't already done so, and have more time on some future visit, you might like to check out some of the designated great national parks, wild areas and ancient/ prehistorical monuments of Britain. If you're sensitive to such things, you might discover the soul of these lands there, more so perhaps than in the big metropolis. The Highlands of Scotland and Devon's Dartmoor spring immediately to mind for me, but there are many other options, most rich with history and mythology, that aren't on the major tourist itineraries. Thank you for sharing your adventures and thoughts during your time in London. It's been really fun to get to know you, and see London through your eyes. <3

@@simonroberts7891 I was born in the lake district and live in London. There are a lot of beautiful places in England but that guy is one of our racists, when he emphasised that only people who don't live in London are real in his opinion that gives it away. Racists always try to dehumanise those who are different from them. They always need to be opposed.

@@simonroberts7891 when he dehumanises Londoners it tells me that he is a racist and he needs to be opposed. I was born in the lake district and live in London now. There are a lot of beautiful places in the UK but, unfortunately, most of our racist people live in the countryside. It's the fear of the different and lack of exposure to other cultures when young that causes it, (and their racist families of course).

Central Park, NYC. Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. I lived next the GG Park for decades and used it all the time. It was well maintained when I lived there. Some places were neglected but in general it was very beautiful.

It's true. But there are not the loads of small to medium parks- in London no-one lives more than a 10 minute walk from a park of some type. In the London suburb I am in, there are 4 parks within a 10 minute walk.

These parks won’t happen in America because open ground can make more money with high rises and skyscraper offices, and money controls America and is worth more than citizens right to calm and tranquility and peace of mind. Besides that Americans generally don’t get paid holidays or enough time off from work to relax, also Americans in general are not used to walking so these parks would be a waste of money unless people were charged high entrance fees to use them.
@victorcapel275515 сағат бұрын
There's a political and historical context here as well. Many of the great city parks in Europe was built by monarchs and were often reserved for the royalty as hunting grounds and recreational areas. With the fall of monarchy as a political power (some countries still have them, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain to name a couple except for the UK) the parks went to the republican governments and opened to the public or just opened to the public as a "service" of sorts for still paying taxes to support the monarchy in a symbolical context. Since the US never had a monarchy, such private monuments were never really built in the first place, so there were nothing to give back to the public when monarchy lost it's power.
