Great review Steve! I have been waiting for this to come back out for years, and mine arrived two days after it went up on Vanishing Inc. My tuck case had some defects, or I may have damaged it somehow. I just made a new one out of Red Rider Back tuck case flat stock (I got from Penguin Magic years ago), and it works perfectly-and, in my opinion, looks better. As hard as this looks, I have already mastered the card selection, but I will not be performing this until I have a few months of practice under my belt. I am still practicing Little Holes, which I purchased directly from Trick Trick Boom when it was released. This is top-shelf, miracle-level magic, and any magician who purchases this needs to keep that in mind. Either be ready to perform a miracle, or don't perform it at all.

I'll preface my comment by saying I love Angelo, and I think he's a creative genius. It does seem like you were struggling to not say you didn't like it in this review. Thats fine. To me this seems like a trick magicians will appricate more than the public. With a bit of thought you could create a similar effect with a devano deck and leave the spectator with the impression they just thought of a card rather than selecting one. That one could be done surrounded and with no fiddly finger movements.

Fell in love with this immediately - will potentially oit perform it „out of the box“ but the potential is really great - no electronics 🎉, no threads 🎉, no magnets 🎉 - just care and practice. Thanks to Angelo for this amazing idea and to you Steve for reviewing it.

To add - The scripting has to be good but you can improvise and stretch it out in different ways so I’ve mixed it up and still got the hits - it’s flexible mentalism

I bought this when it was released and have been using it a lot… like you said it’s a really different feel to a mentalism routine and I love performing it. It hits every time for me and the reactions are great! Dave is brilliant at coming up with new ideas / love this trick ! Nice review Steve !

My process is the same. I, too, have a really hyper brain, and it has worsened in recent times due to big move n change. My normal process is simalar. But I allow myself to play with props. If I have created the prop n find it "works," the fun really starts. But at some point I have to pack away everything n focus on one routine. It does help if I have regular performances to try out bits of a routine, eg, Coin moves. In my early days, I was fortunate not to have a magic distraction. Before the internet. During that time, juggling was my passion. I would go practice at a set time every day. In my early twenties i practised outside before dinner. The wind died n calm, allowing ring juggling. In later years traveling with circusses, I clocked up at least 6 hrs a day spread over different times. ( Practicing in the lions cage before a show was a " get used to feeling!" Performing at the same time was invaluable. I am proud to say the list of routines was achieved by the end of the 10-month contract! I was able to mark each show with what mistakes i made. I saw patterns n adjusted focus. I have realised I had a gift in my youth because of 6 years of performance based contracts , which allowed for rapid improvement. Enjoy your posts, mate.

If used properly, ADD and OCD are basically superpowers. I use them to my advantage. As far as tricks go, I allow fx to speak to me. For example, if I see an effect I can feel almost immediately that it's for me and I will flourish with it. If I were to force myself to learn something that does not speak to me, then I just don't work on it. Zero-in on what works best for you. Eugene Burger once said that he wished he could just stick to 10 tricks and master those. I guess because there are so many, it's like Pokemon... Gotta catch em' all syndrome.

We always get something out of a proper Steve waffle. I have a difficult time focusing when I’m surrounded by tricks, so I’m only leaving what I want to work on in sight, and the rest are in boxes. Also, I’m a morning person, so I focus on what I feel I must work on first; before anything else. Good luck with the house repairs!

Hey Steve, First time watching your reviews. Great review by the way, I bought Emergence as soon as it was released and agree, you just can not over state the power of this prop. Tim Hill showed this three years ago at MagiFest and had a limited supply, which he sold out immediately. It took something like three years before it was finally released.. My friend Matt Stanley bought one at the convention and showed it to me over lunch one day and I had to have one. I pestered Vanishing Inc over and over about as to when they were going to release Emergence. Then I started sending Emails to Tim Hill himself, tried and tried to buy one from him but it was now out of his hands. I think he finally blocked my Emails. lol So Magi, if you do anything with a coin you need to buy this. I bought mine from a dealer, and I did because Vanishing Inc as well stopped answering my repeated pestering as to when it was going to be released:-) Thanx, AlmostAmazingKeith PS: mind if I borrow the coin from the nose, Hysterical

This suffers from the too perfect theory. It can only be done one way and thats the way spectators will come up with. If i were ever to do this trick (i probably won't) i wouldnt remove the top of the finger. Just stick the blades through, remove them, and stop there.

I dragged my feet for a while before picking one up. Most of all my other paddle effects sit in a drawer. But Turbostick has become an E.D.C.- it takes up very little space and although it doesn't have grand climax it ends nicely. People have fun watching it, and it'sa nice breather from cards/coins. I probably took the premise from the instructions "it's the world's smallest white board for a weird observation test".
