If used properly, ADD and OCD are basically superpowers. I use them to my advantage. As far as tricks go, I allow fx to speak to me. For example, if I see an effect I can feel almost immediately that it's for me and I will flourish with it. If I were to force myself to learn something that does not speak to me, then I just don't work on it. Zero-in on what works best for you. Eugene Burger once said that he wished he could just stick to 10 tricks and master those. I guess because there are so many, it's like Pokemon... Gotta catch em' all syndrome.

Good advice on structure. I need to take note because I go from this to that all the time. Cheers

We always get something out of a proper Steve waffle. I have a difficult time focusing when I’m surrounded by tricks, so I’m only leaving what I want to work on in sight, and the rest are in boxes. Also, I’m a morning person, so I focus on what I feel I must work on first; before anything else. Good luck with the house repairs!

We all get into this. You walk away for a day or so. Then come back refreshed ☺️👍👍🎄

My process is the same. I, too, have a really hyper brain, and it has worsened in recent times due to big move n change. My normal process is simalar. But I allow myself to play with props. If I have created the prop n find it "works," the fun really starts. But at some point I have to pack away everything n focus on one routine. It does help if I have regular performances to try out bits of a routine, eg, Coin moves. In my early days, I was fortunate not to have a magic distraction. Before the internet. During that time, juggling was my passion. I would go practice at a set time every day. In my early twenties i practised outside before dinner. The wind died n calm, allowing ring juggling. In later years traveling with circusses, I clocked up at least 6 hrs a day spread over different times. ( Practicing in the lions cage before a show was a " get used to feeling!" Performing at the same time was invaluable. I am proud to say the list of routines was achieved by the end of the 10-month contract! I was able to mark each show with what mistakes i made. I saw patterns n adjusted focus. I have realised I had a gift in my youth because of 6 years of performance based contracts , which allowed for rapid improvement. Enjoy your posts, mate.
