What about Barbell Calf Raises? I'm sure Omar would place them at A tier, perhaps even S tier. Missed opportunity Dr Pak

Zercher squats are S tier all day long. Heavy for 5-10 reps will put a hurtin on your quads, back, abs and mind.

Weren't some of the biggest bodybuilder sensations also powerlifters and just in general lifting insane barbell lifts? And there was that test or research back in the day where some coach or so wanted to prove bodybuilders a sham and invited some of them to his gym of idk, school athletes or something, and they performed way better. I forget the exact exercises they were supposed to do, but it was about flexibility/mobility if I recall, maybe agility.

Don‘t hate barbell rows that much.😜 For me that‘s just one of several rows i do, but it‘s fun. And chest assisted rows are so boring.

High bar unfortunately is superior. But when you get Greg Nuckols in there squatting with wraps... That dude and his articles got me into lifting. I was a nerd. He is a nerd about lifting. I think Greg's squat ranks s tier. Also anything zercher that Havilland does is S tier

Add OHP into powerlifting as a fourth lift. Swapping it out for bench would make the upper body even less relevant.

If Omar doesn't donate Pak a pirate bandana for more cool points, what is he doing? Deep olympic squat mentioned, Clarence Kennedy shown on screen, the honors have been paid to the squat gods. I almost didn't even recognize the Strength god Greg Nuckols. But then you put Clarence Kennedy as low bar squat in B tier. You're on the naughty list now. To be fair nobody ever asks about your barbell row or squat. They always ask what you bench. Even people who don't lift or care about lifting. I feel like bench has to be the king in that sense. Personally I don't like it. Overhead press is where it's at. And barbell row is somehow the coolest to me (after that ass to grass squat), the controlled weightlifter style barbell row. The way Omar did them in the clip. Seal rows are funny, they need to be mentioned. Actually now that I remembered the olympic lifts being barbell lifts just as well, it's easy. The snatch is easily the coolest looking lift. You grab the bar and put it above your head in a quick move, everybody thought you were gonna deadlift that 100 kg. Unfortunately it is far lower loaded, but that's the cost. And clean & jerk is the stronger version of that, it looks almost religious in that way as well. Like if deadlift wasn't a 10 second inching grind but quick and powerful. The olympic lifts that are left today are also just like that pure stuff, no beauty points or arguments if you grabbed the bar and put it above your head properly (except the stupid elbow lockout rule). Of course some do it with such finesse you can't help but tear up, watching someone like Gabriel Sincraian snatch and c&j, but that's not judged. The olympic press was also pretty respect demanding thing. The only shame is that it's really difficult to lift big in overhead press unless you're Mike Israetel, Omar Isuf or Dmitry Klokov. In that vein, what do you think about push press (the olympic style where you train the dip and drive for jerk) as a tool to train your strict press? You get the controlled eccentric with slightly bigger loads than with strict press. And doing the actual lift is extremely disappointing in terms of in your head it goes about like this "heh, pretty easy weight" for a few reps and then suddenly after an easy rep "wow I don't think I can finish this rep, it's such a slow grind, I have noodles for arms and the energy inside me left like a wind through a crack". But! It can fix messed up shoulder muscles and mechanics. Suddenly all the muscles start working in tandem in the upper back when you have that heavyish barbell going above your head. Snatch deadlift is btw secretly the thing that makes people look and wonder, somehow it looks cooler than conventional. And it rises up to your hip instead of your knees. But to the benefit of deadlift I think some deadlifting should be in everyone's program, especially beginners. Why? Because of how you learn to keep rigid and lift heavy loads safely. If you've trained for a while and are only interested in building muscle then sure, drop the deadlift, you've already learned to pick up heavy stuff. For casual everyday life benefit gym goer deadlift and high bar squat if only two exercises that should transfer to everyday life the best. And snatch pull is also fun for traps and side delts. It's not optimal by any means but it feels good, you get to have some powerful movement and then you still do the heavy eccentric. I really dig how both of you in deadlift clips kneeled right after the big successful attempt. What a great example in comparison to those gym fails where the guy just drops unconscious after the lift.

Zercher squats are good because you can do it without a rack. I don't see a reason to do them over front squat if you have a rack.

Re: Shorter rest periods. That was equated for volume. So to get the same volume with shorter rest, you have to do more sets. At which point, is it even going to be faster? People tend to forget what "equated for volume" means. Overall, I'm with Jeff on this one. But that's just based on vibes. Interesting discussion!
