PLS i really wanna watch this video, but I'm not on the latest chapter (I'm like 40 chapter behind or something) SO I got spoiled a bit by some panels. Just a friendly advice: Write down on what chapter there will be spoilers (even if it's just an image) like Roku VS Benio on their Sun and Moon form is just brutal as a spoiler... Still aswome video, I would say that the anime is not THAT bad if you don't know the manga, but that's the case of LOTS of anime Like Tanya the Evil or Overlord, which change a lot From their original story. Now for TSE is a bit different cause they changed things for fan service and they didnt wait fot the manga to catch up before continuing the anime so they just invented shit.

I saw deathnote years ago. It was the first anime I really watched and I enjoyed it but felt the ending third was so disjointed. And then within the past year or so, I read the manga and realized that the last third of the manga was so disjointed because half of the story was cut out of it. Theres so much good stuff that was cut out of the anime that adds so much context and reasoning behind everything. I even rewatched Deathnote after finishing reading to see it again with all the new context added and boy oh boy it's such a huge difference.

i haven't read the manga yet (tho i know i should), but the whole essence of Near seemed off from the get-go. And the finale was really fishy to me - there was no way, without detailed exposition that Near would have been able to see through Light's double notebook scheme and come up with this. this video really proves that point and many others. still an enjoyable anime, an iconic one, but some stuff was really questionable.

This kinda makes me glad that after I had stopped the Death Note anime after ep 25, I later ended up picking the series again where I left off with the manga instead (the college I once went to had every post-L's death volume of the manga and I remember reading all of them, being interested in how everything played out after his death. Seeing Light react to there being more than just L who could stop him was great.

I was expecting to skip over a section if I hadn’t read/watched something, but surprisingly all the manga you chose were among my favorites. Yona and A Sign of Affection are the only 2 I’ve read, but I’ve watched the anime for the other 3. Like you said, Yona is very different from a battle shonen female protagonist in how weak she starts and how she embraces her femininity, but I think the story really starts after all the dragons are found and the story starts to focus more on the politics. Sadly, the first season of the anime ended right before that part and it is a bit of a shame that it hasn’t been continued. Yona has some of the best character development in fiction.

Please please pleasee continue reading Fruits Basket it’s so good and I get the Tohru complain 100% but once you continue reading she is really such a great character and there is a reason to why she is the way she is and she ends up being far from a plain character, she is an amazing protagonist!!

The fact is that it took too long, the concept was cool, L had to prove that Yagami was Kira and Kira had to continue acting like a god without leaving evidence and if possible kill L, but it's fun up to a certain point and until L's death everything was perfect. After L's death there was supposed to be a turning point and instead they proposed a sort of remake of the first part.

i personally only watched the anime. the anime was pretty good. but if ill read the manga. i might come to dislike the anime xD

I've always said that I thought the first "half" of the story was done better in the anime, but the second was significantly better in the manga. I'm glad other people are finally starting to see why

... You didn't pick a single historical or horror shojo... Your picks really aren't bad, they're really good shojo, but they're a little narrow in genre. If you'd like to try again with other genres a good choice is "Rose of Versailles" for historical, "From Far Away" for Sci-fi, and "Skip Beat" for comedy.Horror is a little trickier as they haven't made a decent shojo horror in a while, but some good options are the "Poe Clan," "Celestial Maiden Ceres," or if can find them the fan translated works of Chie Shinohara. "Ao No Fuin" or "Yami of the Purple Eyes." These are just suggestions but they are actually pretty good.

Oh, this hit at the right time. I think I'll watch Fruits Basket, but Sign of Affection and Yona of the Dawn were on my list of manga to collect. I think you finally convinced me to just start collecting Yona, especially since I heard it might be ending soon. Only issue is 42+ whole volumes, but it always seems recommended.

eh I liked both for me the manga actually did Benio dirty by literally putting her away for an entire arc, her absence is really felt in a story called TWIN star exorcists and it really doesnt do a fucking thing for the story meanwhile the anime doesnt get to that arc and wraps things up pretty early on hitting the most important beats along the way

When I was younger and got into Manga there was very little available to American audiences. Talking 2006 in a rural area my local bookstore had one 4ft shelf of Manga until probably 2010 and most of it was taken up my Naruto, one piece and bleach. Once I had caught up on all of the shounen ones I started reading the shojo they had. Vampire knight was absolutely amazing and I don't think shojo as a genre is any worse than shounen/senien but God damn is the standard art style ugly. I've always been very picky about art style and to overcome something I find visually disparaging it takes an amazingly strong story. (I dropped one piece for example because of the art in the early volumes). I think more people should give shojo a try, there are bangers especially if you actually enjoy the romance subplots of male targeted Manga. Skip beat, your smile is a trap, and I turned my childhood friend into a girl are worth a read

I'm gonna call this and raise yall reality it was meant to be one season with L dying and maybe light also, but shonin demanded more I get the author didn't want too but he should've made it 3-4 seasons and give light a reasonable downfall with near gaining his own student after Mello and maybe the rest of the spks death but idk my issue was that mikami went too the bank twice in one day was what led lights downfall it was good I used to hate it but now I'm just thinking that there's only 2 things I didn't like because it was way to lucky for near or L it just wouldn't happen so well, mikami wouldn't have broken his order after Takada, and there's no way one man remade the whole notebook and handwriting in less than a night, and mikami was neglectful looking for tampering I'd just like more reasonable explaining, that's why I loved season 1

im not a major anime fan nor have i ever read manga but after L died this show got so boring to me I could hardly finish it. i liked light's character enough to see it through but I can safely say i did not care what happened narratively after L died it all seemed so meaningless

The ending is just SHIT. THATS ALL THERE IS TO IT. Everything in the 2nd half can be forgiven until the end. THERE IS NO FUCKING PHYSICALLY WAY POSSIBLE THAT LIGHT LOSES THAT INTERACTION. To fully PERFECTLY copy the whole notebook in like 8 hours is IMPOSSIBLE. I love this series but this is one of those shows where the "Villian" is supposed to win. And they pulled the rug out last second. It's just dumb

Have you checked out Yu Yu Hakusho? It’s made by the same guy as Hunter X Hunter and it’s pretty spectacular. It does have a pretty weak ending arc, but chapter Black and the dark tournament are absolute bangers of arcs and more than make up for it’s anticlimactic ending. Plus I think the first portion of the manga(which is largely cut out of the anime) is really fun to read.

one of those manga that gets worse and worse with every single issue. by issue 50 you've read the same story told in different ways half a dozen times.

I standby my belief that near shouldn’t even exist. Homie looks like a 10-year-old kid and acts like a 10-year-old kid, yet he has the detective abilities of L and is smarter than light Yagami. The writers really just wanted to ruin the first half, while watching it seems that light and L are way more intelligent than everyone else in the story then the second half happens now apparently light is stupid and L was inferior the whole time

I'd of loved to see the additional mafia raid with Mello ect. That manga scene where the USA soldiers get their helmets cut and ripped off there heads so the Mafia memeber with the eyes 👀 could kill them. Also Sidoh, dragging that one soilder inside would've been something to see on camera

This was an amazing video that actually made me so happy! I'm always wary of videos like this because a lot of people (primarily, but not limited to, men) tend to discredit the shojo (and josei) category as inferior, which is really just misogyny and a disdain for femininity as something lesser. So I'm over the moon that none of that is present in this video, even in your reviews of series you didn't personally enjoy. I also gravitate towards shonen and seinen (and manga I wouldn't necessarily categorise as any of the four demographics), but there are so many good shojosei series I greatly enjoyed. I would love to see another installment of this video, purely so I can recommend you read "Orange". I would so love to hear your thoughts on it, since it is an amazing, thought-provoking, tender and complex manga with great pacing and a story that in no way overstays its welcome.
