Yesss!! I came here from The Masked Man video and got so excited when he mentioned Space Brothers that I just had to check out your video. Wasnt disappointed! It is both my favorite anime and favorite manga of all time. The amount of inspiration this series has given me is unbelievable. I am so glad it is getting into more people's radar! Edit: I've written everything above before I've watched the video - this is afterwards. I agree with everything you've said, especially the Hibito section. Hibito is also my favorite character in the series. His journey, both in space and on the ground is breathtaking. Honestly I'm trying my best to share this masterpiece with my friends but it really is hard to recommend. I've started the anime 6 years ago, and it has since been segmented as my favorite anime. I knew the same would happen with the manga but I was scared of reading it because I wanted to savour the series as much as possible. Now I'm all ought up. Can't wait to read the conclusion - and terrified for afterwards. Thank you for helping this story reach new people.

I LOVE SOACE BROTHERS! It inspired me so much ! I helped me break out of my depression when I was studying for med school! Such an extremely powerful manga/ anime. The characters and so real, compelling and powerful. Gosh I’m so happy to see you cover it!

I’ve read a ton of manga but this is one of the best to ever exist this vid is great at showing the feelings and emotions you feel when experiencing it I think everyone should read it if your a human you will learn so much about others and yourself

Absolutely loved this video! Space Brothers has been my favorite anime and manga since discovering it back in 2019. I was in college at the time, and due to a lot of things going on in my personal life and schooling, I was at the lowest point in my life. I felt like I didn't belong anywhere, and that maybe it was too late for me to turn things around. That was when I stumbled on this show and decided to take a chance on it. Immediately, I found myself relating to Mutta. He was going through the same doubts and stresses as I was, wondering if it was too late for him to pursue his dream and make a change. If it was worth it to try to fight for a life worth living. I was immediately hooked on the show and quickly finished it and caught up to the manga once I was finished. I told all of my friends who watched anime and read manga to give it a chance, but received a lot of push back. They thought that they wouldn't like something like this, and that a series about grown men in the real world would be too boring and mundane. That stories about astronauts would be too unrelatable and complicated to understand. Even I thought that the show might not be for me when I first watched it, because I wasn't interested in outer space at the time. To anyone who sees this and is wondering if they should give this series a try, I implore you to. This story is extremely human, and even without a love for outer space, there's genuinely something for everyone to fall in love with. If you've ever felt like you were being left behind, or if you've ever wondered what it would be like if you chased your dream, this series is definitely for you. Even if you think there's nothing in this series that you'd like, I full-heartedly believe that after giving it a chance, you'll fall in love with the world that Mutta and Hibito show us.

The timing of this video couldn't have come at better time, since the anime was announced to be renewed after the manga's completion. Saying that while it makes me excited it also makes me sad, since Uchuu Kyoudai was always a constant in the background of my life since I was a teenager and knowing it's ending feels somewhat like having your favorite radio host retire. There's also the notion that despite depicting a realistic and griping narrative it never got a massive audience all the way through its mangas run. But just like the story shows if there's a life there's a will, so here's hoping it gets it's full recognition at the tail end of it's run, and if not then it'll be the animes job to carry that hope. Amazing video btw.

Space Brothers is that one hidden gem..... funny that the manga i'm writing is somewhat close to Space Brothers if i had to describe it, only in a different genre

@@NINJAMUSHI it is a grounded-scifi mystery seinen series, with cyberpunk and hard scifi aspect to it. It's called "Firehounds" and I've been able to release Chapter 1.1 on GlobalComix

Thank you for the terrific video! Videos about Space Brothers are few and far in between, but I'm so glad I found this video and applaud how you delivered the story and morals of my all time favorite manga! I've been reading this series from 6th grade and now I'm in my final year of uni. I absolutely love Mutta's character, and I still think till today that he was so well written. Despite coming off as really goofy and somewhat eccentric, Mutta was always had the most thought provoking and out of the box ideas. I really resonated with Mutta's theme of "taking back control of life" and his idea of "failing forwards." Moreover, I think you also mentioned a really good point of how are dreams are a lot more closer than we think, especially when we have friends and loved ones around cheering us on giving us enough courage to take that "leap of faith" forward. Once more, thank you so much for the excellent video essay!
