Nice video. As happy owner of this train and these old tin plate bridges as well I like your careful installation of the bridge composition from the older types Märklin 466 & 467/2 with black pedestals. Awesome construction that bridge. 🙂 A modern plastic bridge installation would have been completely inappropriate for your beautiful tin plate train. And the successors Märklin 7162 & 7163 just with plain bent tin plate flaps wouldn't have been halve that nice. Had to look at your nice vid twice. 🙂 As running tin plate material on my installment exclusively I especially love these SJ wagons as they are the only tin plate wagons with embossed tin sheets. Let alone the wonderful colour of these models.

If you make the cars, use North American models. I used trashed European models and fixed them up, somewhat.

It's a real bitch (and expense!) to erect catenary (even the toy-like extra-thick Märklin version) but, as you can see, it is visually worth it. Thanks!
@garytrooper16 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's a commitment, no doubt. Once it's up, and done right; it's solid. Though, one does have to learn how place and remove trains from the track, from underneath it.

This was the first successful run on the layout after I received it. I didn't know where all the block isolation point where at the time. There are four separate transformers which can be switched to the different blocks depending on which route you want the run, Valley route or mountain route. It was quite a learning curve figuring it out.

11.5' x 4.5' on one board. I can't keep it. I have no room, unfortunately. You can have it if you want it. It needs a big trailer to move it. I live in Southern Idaho.

Well. The Rapido TEE set thatvibhave isn't going to work on this layout. The wheel flanges on the Loco are bigger than the code of the track. Bummer.

That’s to bad. It’s a good reminder for me since I do have a Roco N scale BR 288 and thought about to get some track to have a mini layout just to run that engine. All these pesky little details.😒😉 Robert

If youre into prototypical trains like I am, there's plenty of fantastic modern rolling stock on the market these days with fine details! That combined with gentle curves and longer trains makes for a perfect layout. Just watch SouthernAlbertaRails videos and you'll see what I mean!

Actually, it's fantastic, just noticed the cars going around at realistic speeds, and the steam double headers with the long freight trains are just a feast for the eyes !!!
@garytrooper1 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. The layout has been quite a challenge due space limitations and the desire for long trains. When it runs well it's quite enjoyable. Sometimes it acts up and take a few days to get it back together operating smoothly. Seems like one little derailment can cascade into endless troubles. Mostly because I forgot to throw a switch properly when trying to get them back into their dedicated sidings.

Hello how you control the speed of the locomotives with Arduino?
@garytrooper1 Жыл бұрын
Speed is controlled by separate transformers. There are different speeds set for going up hill, down hill, level track, and slowing down to stop. Contact tracks sense train direction and switch relays to change track voltage if a train is going up hill or down hill. Arduion only controls the switches and singles.
@sunnysworkshop Жыл бұрын
