This is not only GOLD tips but it appealed so perfectly to someone like me who would love to change careers. Even providing step by step milestones was perfect and gives anyone who watches this video a clear, concise idea on what milestones they need to hit before they can start making professional considerations. Thank you, and well done 🤙🏼

I've been animating since 2 months now, have done some decent animations already but, the problem I face is after all my blocking and inbetweens in stepped and, when I turn it into auto/spline. everything seems floaty and the weight is almost vanished.

Hi this a great video, you totally called it with the getting stuck after the basics. Can I ask though, is this relevant to 2d aswell? I'm a 2D animator and this is very much 3d based. Obviously I'm going to try the body mechanics stuff because I was so overwhelmed on how to get there and this was broken down really well! But would you have any tips on how I get into the industry with a 2d demoreel? Thanks

I'm in for the challenge! I have definitely felt lost about what to study after doing basic principle exercises and walk cycles. This helps a ton. The only thing I am not sure of is if I should find/film reference for this first exercise. Thanks!

I'm a CGI student, in my program we have about 3 animation class and the rest are other aspects of 3D CGI. but I barely managed to passe my 2 nd animation class because of time. At the same time of having this class I got 2 jobs to pay bills plus full time in school. Surprised I was able to pass the class honestly. but it really opened my eyes to how much time animation can consume when you're just learning it. Now I'm having my last animation class before I start my Demo movie and I got the opportunity to not work this session and it did all the difference. Of course I was rusty at first but at least I had the time to actually properly learn animation and trial and error some technics to find what works best for me. Now it takes me less time to go from each step of the animation process. Someday I might make my own animation series.

This is very informative, mate! I've just finished my graduation in 3D, so im having quite a hard time deciding what to animate for the reel, but you just gave me a direction to go for! Thank you! But let me ask you something: As someone whos aiming for the game industry, do you think its a bad idea to make a reel showing in-game and cinematic animations?
