That was me on my first class in Animschool. "After a year of animating i know all the basics. This bouncing ball is an insult."-me thinking Then the first critique class came "you didn't get the point of the assignment, i dont see the animation principles."- instructor "🙃" Great tips btw!!!

Greetings mate , would you recommend Animschool for studying animation? I graduated high school a year ago and i am planning on enrolling at Animschool once i gather all the money. Do you think it's worth it ? From the students' work and all the research that i ' ve done , it looks like a pretty high quality school. You would help me so much if you could answer ! Thanks in advance !

@@RoughDonut Hey, oh i love being a student there. I would suggest you look into their finance options. They just became accredited so now they can offer student loan if you can't afford their lowest monthly payment. If you're passionate, do it. Just have in mind its intensive and you sometimes need 40 hrs a week for assignments. They are not strict with who enters the school but they are strict when it comes to grading and going forward. There's a lot of help and instructors available to help you in the assigments and they're all active animator for big companies. Watch the latest student showreel to see what youll be able to do if you sign up. See ya around!

To be more open-minded and seek more reference, don't forget to think more from the basic of what you could make with this simple animations. It looks good, from a normie like me. But from the eyes of pro who has obviously more experience, you will always get new lesson from them. I want to start my animation self-study soon, so this is very eye-opening to me. Thx for making this vid! :3

The number 4. Because is related with “The clarity”, in fact just yesterday I showed my last exercise to my friend and I asked him what think about it, and he told me something very different of what I wanted ....XD..U.U. So I modified a couple thing to give clarity to the story.

I'm a CGI student, in my program we have about 3 animation class and the rest are other aspects of 3D CGI. but I barely managed to passe my 2 nd animation class because of time. At the same time of having this class I got 2 jobs to pay bills plus full time in school. Surprised I was able to pass the class honestly. but it really opened my eyes to how much time animation can consume when you're just learning it. Now I'm having my last animation class before I start my Demo movie and I got the opportunity to not work this session and it did all the difference. Of course I was rusty at first but at least I had the time to actually properly learn animation and trial and error some technics to find what works best for me. Now it takes me less time to go from each step of the animation process. Someday I might make my own animation series.

I did the ball with tail exercise recently, and my shot suffers the same problem of just staring at nothing and then suddenly being surprised by something. I think having him jump into the shot first, then being surprised makes for a much better character thus adding to the over all appeal. I really appreciate this video. It's quite eye opening and has me realizing that I should kick it into high gear if I want to land a job in the animation industry at all

Great video. I know exactly how you feel as I had my own soul-crushing moment for the purposes of improvement. I too was the vAledictorian of my class almost 4 years ago, and as an older student, it was intimidating enough being surrounded by a bunch of people half my age. I started learning Maya on my own (with the help of youtube) for about a year before I started looking for a job in animation when I realized that I was going to need a formal education because you don't know what you don't know, so I attended Full Sail and in Portfolio 4, I told my instructor that I had been doing animation work before school, which I was incredibly proud of at the time. When I showed him my work, he- rightfully- put it through the cheese shredder. I thought my work was so much better than that and this was a real eye-opener and a very tough pill to swallow, but it was also one of the best classes that I had because, for me, it was a military style breakdown in order to rebuild properly. One of the best, and (emotionally)toughest classes I went through in that school.

Thanks for posting. I hope to begin AM this fall, and I was going to submit the reel from my last gig as a character animator for a small non-profit in order to skip out on the Animation Basics class. After watching this, I think I’m going to just take on the whole program. They didn’t teach these specific, fundamental character animation lessons at the art school I attended, and I can see that I need to do this.

Is the fundamentals course difficult to learn, meaning does it take alot of hard work to pick up the skills? When someone finishes the course, what is the type of animation that person be producing?
