1050°- 1100° max exhaust temp pre turbo says Banks on all 6.2 and non oil cooled pistons on 6.5.
@timsteachablemoments1786Күн бұрын
You are correct. I have never knowingly gone over 1000° and don’t plan to. I also think Banks Engineering is a bit low in their max suggestion. GM says 1200°. So, I went with that number in the video. Even that I think is a bit conservative for actual failure mode. But, better safe than sorry. Thank you for watching.

Hi tim. I have an 86 m1009 stock 6.2. Only mod is push button glow plugs. Mine does not seem to high idle at all. Just goes straight to normal idle speed. Just curious if you had any recommendations on where to start? The truck runs absolutely flawless after i put fresh fuel with some atf in it. Just doesn't seem to high idle. Just want everytime to work as it should. Thanks!

Your issue is all about the green wire on the injection pump. There are actually 2 green wires. 1 comes to the pump and splits. 1 splits to the fast idle solenoid hanging over on the driver side of the IP. With the coolant below 94° there should be 12 volt at the fast idle solenoid green wire and the key on. The other split goes to a plug on the IP top cover itself. This is the cold start advance solenoid. It is what makes the engine sound like it is “pinging” when cold. 12 volts there as well with the key on and the coolant below 94°. Obviously, if you have 12 volts at both green wires and no reactions then those parts are bad. I have found that both failing at the same time is extremely rare. Which means you get to follow the green wire backwards. The green wire comes from a thermo sensor located at the passenger side rear outside of the cylinder head. Put your knees on the radiator and your right hand on the passenger valve cover. Then feel down the very rear outside of the head. You might be able to see it below and behind the glow plug for #8. Sometimes you can’t which is why I gave the knee and hand instructions. Hopefully your wires are unplugged, you can plug them back in and all is well. I have had that happen due to cat infestation. There are only 2 wires. The green wire going to the IP and I forget the other wire color. The other wire should be 12 volts anytime the key is on. If it doesn’t follow it back to the fire wall plug on the driver side. Hopefully it will be broken somewhere easy to get to. If you have power to the plug then you have to test the plug. Below 94° coolant temp an Ohm meter should have 0 resistance between the leads. Above 94° coolant and there should be 0 continuity. Broken off is how most of mine have failed. New ones are not cheap. I like changing them from above because the coolant doesn’t get on me as much. Could engine, have the new one ready, break the old one loose, remove the tool, hand remove it, get the new one in the hole and threaded quickly and then finish tightening with a wrench. Plug at back in and all is well. Thanks for watching. I will do a green wire video soon.

Pretty simple. 24 volt system with two 12 volt batteries wired in series....The 12 volt positive wire could be hooked to either the positive post on battery one or negative post on battery 2, because that is the halfway point (24/2=12) of the 24 volt battery, and essentially considered the same terminal. If you unhook the jumper between those 2 terminals, you unhook the series circuit. If you added another 12 volt battery and wired it in series with the original 2, you would make a 36 volt circuit. The same thing could be done with a 12 volt system and two 6 volt batteries. You would get 6 volts at the positve of battery 1 and 6 volts at the negative of battery 2, but only if those 2 terminals are wired together in a series circuit. Many commercial UPS battery systems are 12 volt batteries wired in series to get 240 volts with an inverter to convert to AC power.

The trouble with GM is when they declared bankruptcy in 2009 they separated the new GM from the past GM. Once the parts stockpile is used up, they are gone forever. A good example is the rear A/C switch for the squarebody Suburban. GM is out and nobody makes a replacement. Thank you for watching.

So basically bought a cheap replacement part lost the receipt now you’re mad at O’Reilly is because they sell cheap replacement parts, you could’ve bought the Delco OM but you didn’t you wanted to save money then you lost the receipt and you’re mad at the parts store, you lost your receipt, What does this have to do with anything. Yeah cheap aftermarket parts don’t last as long and you’re better off buying quality performance parts or OEM and getting married at O’Reilly cause you lost your receipt like they’re just supposed to remember some guy that walked in and bought some random car part a few years ago is a little ridiculous and whiny. But I hope the Delco holds out and I hope you remember your receipts in the future, and hopefully parts will get better in the future but people keep buying the cheap Chinese parts and they keep making them cheaper and lower quality because that’s what people buy so it is what it is. As far as the fuel pumps, the electric pumps break down pretty quickly too they’re almost like an emergency grade pump even the more expensive ones tend to die off. Watch somebody like vice grip Garage and he’ll carry two or three of those things on a long trip because they break down that much And again by a good quality part or OEM part at least but the cheap store brands and Chinese junk from Amazon an eBay or just that they’ll last a while but they’re not exactly high-quality but I don’t think Electric is the option to get a good mechanical pump that’ll last 20 or 30 years like an OEM part would if you buy the cheap stuff you’re buying cheaper quality parts and they’re not gonna last as long but I wouldn’t go electric cause even the better electric pumps don’t last very long the advantage to them is there cheap and easy to replace so if you do carry a spare install at someplace that’ll be easy to get to.
@timsteachablemoments17869 күн бұрын
I didn’t mean to come across that way. My beef with O’Reilly’s is they offer a lifetime warranty. To me that means the product is good enough to stand behind and worth buying from them. 10 years ago that was true in my experience. Not so much recently. I actually have a commercial account with O’Reilly’s. I can walk in without a receipt to any of their stores, give them my number and they can verify that I did in fact purchase from them and it should be replaced. Thank you for watching.

Thanks for this video! But I don’t know what size compressor I’ll need? Any ideas

I just had to buy a Delco TCM for $1,500 because my 92’ 6.2 Chevy p30 was stuck in limp mode. Basically the TCM wasn’t talking to the speed sensor so the truck thought I was going zero mph and wouldn’t shift. I was hoping it was just the speed sensor itself and replaced both of them with no luck. The reason I paid that much and just didn’t give up is because this vehicle is a food truck and that’s what I do for a living. So anyways my point is… I feel your pain brother!

That is a device that was marketed back in the ‘80’s as a fuel mileage helper. I mounted it to see if it worked. Which was a little. Then I have left it on because if I mess with the fuel lines, I want to swap over to AN fittings and PTFE braided steel hoses. That takes money and motivation to mess with something that doesn’t leak. I will soon though. Thank you for watching.

Hello I had a question for you guys I’m getting air in my fuel I replaced the return line with a clear line to insure that air is getting into the fuel I then replaced the box style fuel filter which didn’t help then I replaced the Box filter with a screw on filter and still no luck I went ahead and replaced the in tank fuel sending unit as well as the electric fuel pump and the suction line that runs across the frame from the tank side to the electric fuel pump I also replaced all the rubber lines when I added the new spin on fuel filter and I’m still dealing with the same issue it will start after cranks a good bit then it will have a rough idle eventually the idle is good enough to drive and when you do drive you’ll be able to go for a little while until it shuts down on its own. I’ve cracked two injectors to insure all the air is out of the lines but somehow I end up seeing air bubbles. Sorry for writing so much just wanted to be as detailed as possible.
@timsteachablemoments1786Ай бұрын
Since air keeps getting in while the engine is running. That means the leak is on the suction side of the fuel pump. Check the fittings on the fuel pump for cracks, take them apart and add teflon tape, tighten the clamps and look for any other place that might let air in. There won’t be a fuel spill there either. Air molecules are smaller than diesel molecules.

@timsteachablemoments1786Ай бұрын
@@Wildcard_Shami If you are talking about the big O-ring between the fuel tank and the sender/pick up assembly, then that only serves to keep fuel from leaking out the top of the tank. It has nothing to do with your air in the fuel problem.

@billydeesullivan537Ай бұрын
I have a question about the trailers. Is there a version of those humvee trailers that have a dump bed?
@timsteachablemoments1786Ай бұрын
That is a good way to start an argument. The answer for my M101A2 trailers is kind of/almost. The M101 was designed to go behind the M37. The M101A2 had surge brakes and was designed to go behind the Chevy CUCV trucks. The M101A3 had the axles wider and took HMMWV wheels. All of the M101 series have 2 bolts that hold the front of the bed to the hitch A frame. Pull those bolts and the trailer is designed to kind of look like a dump bed. The feature is for packing them into the hold of a ship though. The hinge bracket is not nearly stout enough for folding at max load. Also, the hydraulic brake lines and metal there and don’t take kindly to being bent too much. I don’t know about the aluminum trailers that replaced the M101A3 behind the HMMWV. Thanks for watching. I’ll do a video about this issue soon.
