Why no lures? Your face is nice, but show us the lure, show clear pool underwater lure techniques, DEMONSTRATION…. SHOW ME HOW…. TALKING. TALKING. TALKING. ONLY when casting and working lures. How is not words…. Do it like this. Do you see the better wiggle at slower speed, skate lures across riverbanks… catch the underbank areas…. The lure imitates new critter entering the water… all fish alerts!‼️😮food?

Hand over hand bare line tip up retrieving is more technically challenging than using the advantage of a nice modern reel's drag, so I disagree that it's more entertaining. Fun stuff. Keep up the good work.

Pretty dumb that Minnesota doesn’t allow automatic hook setting. A lot safer for the fish, they don’t have a lot of time to swallow the hook!

I rely on my drag only for emergencies. Having your line pulled out in drag puts twist into your line. Backreeling is how you let out line without twist while fighting a fish. It also increases your sensitivity and control as well.

This is all pure marketing speak. No battery auger will last 25 years that I’ve had my gasser and its still going. I just bought another gasser in case they disappear. I’ve drilled through almost 6’ of ice here in Manitoba with that 25 year old jiffy. The overall operating cost of electric($800+) and the cost of a new battery($300) is out of hand and cost preventative considering its life cycle. I cant believe the guy that talked about having to pull to start a gasser. Give me a break!!!

It is recommended you freeze the fillets for at least 72 hours before you pickle fish. I sometimes forget that step, but it is highly recommended

Okay great point. Other than that situation, a back reel option on a older reel with a suspect drag, is probably NOT the reel to take in more serious fishing situations. Truthfully, I could never find the patience to master the back reel on the take, if in fact that’s it’s first reason to use it which I have always thought. But your explanation sounds more logical. Thank God for the increased tech we have today and I never wanted the back reel option anyway 😊. 🎣

How is there a spot at 60ft with no oxygen? How is that even possible? So are you saying it’s a small spot that has none or are you saying 60ft in any lake has zero oxygen

We used to fish in northern Wisconsin every year and my dad would pickle the northern that we caught while ice fishing. There was no size limit where we fished. It wasn't bad

I preffer dill and a bit of garlic. This is a classic sweet recipe, which is good for Xmas. I also like it in cream sauce, like the Scandinavians eat it.
@stevenratte2834
@stevenratte2834 Ай бұрын
How do you make that? Please?
@someguy-k2h
@someguy-k2h Ай бұрын
@@stevenratte2834 It's just as easy as adding sour cream. For every pound of fish, you use 1 cup sour cream, 2 cups rice or cider vinegar, 1 Tbs Kosher salt, 1 medium onion sliced on a mandolin very thin, 2 bay leaves, 4 cloves of garlic, 1 Tbs crushed black pepper corns, 1 Tbs mustard seeds, a branch of dill, and some sugar to taste. I prefer brown sugar, but it colors the product beige. Other people don't even put sugar in at all. I use 1/2 a cup to 1 lbs pike. I'm not a sweet pickle fan so you may want more sweet in yours. I found this in Denmark and they only use dense rye brown bread, Rugbrød, to serve with it.

@someguy-k2h Thank you so much. Love that style bread, too.
@someguy-k2h
@someguy-k2h Ай бұрын
@@stevenratte2834 You can also do it in Swedish style which uses beets and yogurt instead of sour cream. This is VERY red/purple. It's served on Swedish brown bread which isn't nearly as dense as the Danish Rugbrød. It's lighter and you use about 1.5 to 2 cups of yogurt and 1/2 of a beet.

Assume every freshwater fish you catch in North America has European tapeworm. Any fish should be thoroughly cooked to kill any larvae. Brining does NOT kill the larvae. Freeze your pike for at least 72 hours at or below 0° Fahrenheit. Thaw and then proceed with this awesome pickled pike recipe.

Just FYI everyone, you do NOT need to replace Mono or flora line every year. Their is a way to test the line strength by stretch to breaking point by pounds(how the line is tested by at the factory) and most companies lines will last easily 2-5 years of every weekend use. All you have to do is break off 5-7 ft of line a year and retie (90% of all stress on the line and abrasion happens in the last 7 ft or less). So don't replace the line for ice fishing every year, its a total waste of line and money. 29" eyes on 4# flor that was 3 years old proves it.
