I went from 8.40 to 7.55 with the original setup. Then i changed to a setup from some other tutorial. I crashed constantly (thanks to the strong differential I think). Also the 6th gear was unreachable and i cannot go past 180km/h on the straight-line sections. The fastest time I got was 7.22. Now I'm using your setting and I feel I can get at least 7.05 but I'm currently struggling with crashing on the two last hairpins.

Question: what are your display settings ? My colors are always washed out and has a rather low contrast grey overcast, I.e. looks like everyone else’s wrc. Are you running a filter? Anyway, great video as always, great guide.

Make sure your display has HDR enabled. My TV sometimes turns it off, then colors are washed out again. Also, if you look at my older Guides, I feel like the PS5 didn't record proper HDR back then, then it is washed out too.

No TrueForce settings? Also, what was your reasoning on soft lock and steering centering? Thanks for the overview, it’s tough finding videos for somebody that has the same G Pro base!
@skyrex24655 күн бұрын
Soft Lock for realism. Steering Centering because it is annoying if it tries to move on its own for no "physical" reason. And TrueForce because I don't understand and feel the physics behind it. It's kinda adding rattling and vibration for fluff and not for simulated reasons.

Spot on, always good. I enjoy the rhythm of Chile and you are very right, accumulation of taps and knocks ruin your rally over multiple stages.

The blue Subaru Impreza with those yellow/green decals will never stop being my favorite rally car ever. Even when McRae was driving the Ford, I still loved watching the Subaru drive the most, no matter who the driver was, and I always picked it in the old rally games. Today's rally cars are just boring to look at.

Thanks for sharing this video with us. I've watched a lot of your content on EA WRC and I've improved a lot by listening to your great advice and explanations. The video where you explained all the different tuning definitions was a game changer for me and how I understand this genre of racing. I am a fellow G Pro Wheel user and saw you have trueforce turned off. I'm curious why you chose to turn it off if you wouldn't mind explaining. I'd love to hear your opinion on it if you get the chance to see this comment. As always thanks for the awesome informative video, and I look forward to the next one!

@ubiquityxx2 ай бұрын
Good tips but I'd also recommend going with tuned (via in-game tune search), older, lighter cars - you'd be surprised how effective that tactic works. Manual is key too - drive that to get an edge on performance. Ramming other cars is bad form.

I think the beginner stuff should be included in this video. Considering guides are usually aimed for beginners or someone running the event for first time, it would be helpful to go through all of the few challenging corners that can catch you out if you dont know the road yet. Additionally that one corner where it is tempting to exit wide but will slap you 5s penalty while the corner cut bollard is not there is very nice to know. Although it is easy, some of the seemingly non harmful banks and ditches are very punishing, small oversteer can lead to puncture. There would be many more things to say about Latvia as a location when using cars with simple suspension systems. Setups meant for other locations is kind of ok but it is far from optimal for the best time trial results.
@skyrex24653 ай бұрын
It seems you speak from a primarily time trial point of view? These nuances are true and I fully understand that time trial-ers could benefit from different setups for every location, even different for some stages in the same location. But, I consider time trial as basically driving a different game, than to do rally. And my channel is aimed for the immersion of rally driving. To which it belongs, that a setup has to work for different weather, different seasons, different tyre wear and tyre choice and several stages back-to-back.
@vaiski64463 ай бұрын
@@skyrex2465 I mean the full rally length, but this also applies to time trials when studying a stage. In a time trial, one should learn the stage inside and out, but for a full rally length, drivers mostly rely on notes since there's too much road to memorize by rote. However, it can be easy to miss a call, like "3 left long tightens," which may cause action. For beginners, knowing in advance that a potentially tricky corner is coming up is beneficial. This can help avoid damage, corner cuts, 30s resets, and 90s tire change penalties, which can set you back much more than losing a few tenths here and there by driving carefully. Typically, there are only a handful of such places in each rally, and they are relatively easy to memorize. If I recall correctly, Latvia has about seven of these locations, one of which can easily cause punctures. It has a seemingly harmless grass-covered bank right next to the racing line. Three other locations can cause significant damage if you miss a call, and one leads to a lake and reset penalty. Yes, its definitely a skill issue, but that is part of being a beginner. In Finland, most accidents occur during calls for 4 that have some sort of modifier. However, there are so many of these in Finland that its better to drive all the 4s with extra caution until you memorize them. Anyway, it would be great to include these critical spots in the guides, even though they might not be the same for everyone but you would get most of them. This would mean less frustration due to skill issues. In my opinion, setups are less significant than rally knowledge. Driving the default setup leads to far less time loss than making driving mistakes. I tune for the location and road profile rather than for individual stages, tire wear, or weather conditions. However, these are personal preferences, and I believe either approach can be effective.
@dirtydard48703 ай бұрын
There is no complex context around the skill issue discussion. Many people do not want to take personal resposibility for their failures and would prefer to blame external factors like game design instead. There is a belief among many that games should not require significant time investment or practice in order to achieve what they percieve as success. The biggest example of this in popular culture was with the release of Sekiro, when games journalists complained about their inability to complete the game and decrying the lack of an easy mode to improve accessibility.

Once I get used to a track and cars handling I turn those you have on 57 down a lot - down to 20-50 depending on how loose the grip is. Asphalt on 20 and Snow on 50. Logitech G29. It's barely there and feels less thrilling but I think my driving experience is much better. Especially when I've lost control of the car or misjudged a corner.

I think for many viewers it's worth stating your pc specs in the video notes. This will help viewers to gauge whether it's worth switching to pc like you did yourself. I tried the PC version with the intention of using VR and the VR implementation is terrible for my PC. Standard, flat screen gameplay was at times far better than PS5 but the stutters were worse and I went back to the PS5 as I found it more consistent! I don't have a mega PC, but one would think that the game should run well considering my following specs. Graphics card: AMD 7800XT, CPU 5700G, 16GB RAM 3200mhz!

I am happy for this video for more reasons. Firstly the Graphics settings can get a bit tricky without G-force experience profiles and I like how you picked the settings which are causing the most problems. Second, I have also Logitech Pro Wheel and there is not many people talking about its settings. I understand you have it set to default with no dampener or filters. Does it mean that you changed the default value of dampener to 0 or left it on 10? A quick tab out to LG hub to show the settings would be very appreciated. Even for a few seconds to pause the video and double check our settings 😉 I already tested your game settings and wheel on default (dampener to 10), just pumped strength to 11 and it started making more sense. I must say I enjoy the wheel behaviour now more than before. I am using your settings and advices since Dirt Rally 2 as they always worked for me well! Even adjusting it to my liking got much easier after your explanation of how it works and why you tune the parts you do. Thank you and keep up your good work SkyRex, looking forward for next videos
