Watching this, then watching any DR2 video, really highlights just how much better DR2's audio is. Agreed on the stages though, that's always been one of the strengths of the WRC games - not just the variety of locations, but the variety WITHIN each stage. A lot of DR2's stages can feel a bit monotonous to drive through, even if they're technically higher quality and more true to life.

DR2's stages are "based on real locations" in the same way WRC10 is. They just compressed them into the boring parts for some reason, whereas Nacon seems to like stringing the memorable bits together.

Thanks for sharing this..I started playing Tuesday and something was missing on my weel T300 RS..after a few adjustments it felts better but I don't know, it feels better for me on dirt Rally 2 .. can't wait for the Codemaster WRC release ..if it's for better..gonna try the adjustment that you have shown us , thanks and have fun , sheers

please do not hope for a good game from codemasters, the likelihood of that is literally 0.01%, they suck, and they suck even more now that EA bought them.

@@s4uss yeah but for me as a first sim racing experience, games like dirt Rally 2 or asseto competizione feels much way better than this.. there's a lack of force feedback and sound too.. I'm enjoying though , and getting used to another different drive

@@filipealves7755 dirt rally is anything but a sim. If anything, it can be sad its a simcade. Also, FF on modern rally car is minimal. Rally drivers have cooperated on making this game to represent reallity to the best of their abilities.

yes it's available as separate DLC for around $4. also, if you're on steam, it's free until Nov 14 if you buy the full game

I read somewhere that you can set it to 60fps, but you will have to close the game and restart it for it to go into effect. Stupid, but will probably be fixed.

For anyone with an older GPU the game looks and sounds like a PS2 game, which is sad. Im on a T150 and compared to DR2.0, as you said, it's really difficult to be in control of the car fully, due to some strange feedback (or lack thereof). You just kinda float towards a corner and steer into it. It's really difficult to play with the momentum and weight of the car and I don't know why, especially compared to DR2.0 where you "feel" your tires losing and gaining grip. I really hope they update the sounds, as it is such an important part of (sim-esque) games. Small sounds like the brakes locking up, or the car bottoming out are so important. I find myself struggling to know wether or not I'm lifting enough for a corner because the engine revs sound so shit and monotone.

I just played it on PC, and damn, it's a huge improvement from WRC 9 (I skipped 10) in almost everything. Smoother and nicer graphics, nicer physics, even better with a DualSense controller. Codemasters will never top this with their profit over quality approach.

I haven't played the game so don't know for sure but on ps5 a lot of the gravel sounds come through the controller....... maybe, despite the fact you're on a wheel the game thinks it's sending sound to the controller?? Likely not but maybe.

Didnt know that, thanks. But sadly, I investigated, and the only noise from the controller is some gearshift noise and when you hit objects like bushes or poles. It's true, that those sounds are missing, when using a wheel though. But it is not the immersion breaking missing gravel sound.

@@beyond72deepsoulfulhousemixes I played it as soon as it launched on pre-order (Australia) and it first it played great but the FFB would go after about 7 mins, or after a couple of stages. You would lose all feeling, and this was confirmed by running the FFB and vibration tests in Options. Had to quit and re-start the game to get the FFB, and then it would happen again. Then they did a big 26Gb update overnight, In the meantime I did a driver update on my GT DD Pro and wheels. Now none of the buttons on the Fanatec wheels work at all, so you can't EVEN START THE FOOKING GAME. Wheels and Wheel base works perfectly on DR2, ACC, AC F12022 etc, but then when you switch back to WRC Generations, nothing. Nice one FT you bunch of French wankers. Less long Bagette lunches, more critical bug fixes you scam-lords.

If you race on gravel and you put soft tires on the front and hard in the back the car will behave more like they do in DR 2.0 :D:D

have always valued your guidance with DR2, especially your car setups! have never understood how WRC is even in others' game libraries as it has always been a pain to configure wheel controllers (?!) and the surfaces always looked too flat. sure there were some bumps, but the main surface is for the most part flat. and now not needing any wipers on when it is raining is unacceptable. woefully really crappy (WRC) simulation (don't make me laugh!) game.

i played it today, and yes, you are right, feels like the car is floating, no feedback on a xbox controller. It is slower to, WRC 10. I amid i am a arcane fan of this series, bit let down it the sim effect, i prefer fun and speed.

i can only start playing the game tomorrow but from what ive seen from other videos and what i got from WRC10 i still have to say Dirt rally 2.0 is better in everything apart from stage design i found the stages in WRC 10 more fun to drive then the stages in Dirt rally 2.0

100% I have 200 hrs in dr2 and just ten on WRC.. I definitely enjoy both games but hands down WRC destroys dr2 with it's stages. WRC has the stages and career mode and then Dr2 has everything else.

Good video. I never liked WRC 8 or 9 due to them being horrible with a controller. I don't understand why people say DR 2.0 looks better as on my Xbox One S it is soft and mushy. DR 1.0 looks better. DR 2.0 has no proper career (unless you count the Colin McCrae dlc). I want to like WRC but keep going back to DR 1.0.

@@skyhunter996 I play the WRC series on my PS5 with a controller and get pretty decent times and rankings. Top 100 for quite a few of them. I don’t think there is anything wrong with using a controller. Decent driving rigs are really expensive and take up a lot of room so for a lot of people it isn’t even an option.

Games about as fun as a turd in the punch bowl. Looks about as good as well. The puddles are literally a white blob with no texture, there's some of the worst pop in I've ever seen, seems to be no AA or it's running sub 1440p, and the controls feel like a 50 ton bar of soap on wheels. I bought it for the track variety after hearing positive things about the series but it blows. Dirt Rally 2 looks better, runs better, and plays better. The only positive feedback is the snow stages are fun. Some of the tracks are really dope layouts as well.

Issue is their engine is probably hard to deal with, not their motivation. But Codemasters actually have superior engine, but still manage to make worse games, go figure. Codemasters are much more capitalistically motivated than KT, and it shows with every game, even before EA bought them, they were a capitalistic abomination.

Sure, it drives like Burnout. And Forza Motorsport is grabage arcade like Mario Kart, same with Gran Turismo is exactly as unrealistic as Need for Speed. The only true piece of software that can be called Simulator is ACC.

@@s4uss nah. Dirt Rally 2 has worse tarmac physics and stages (but you can actualy drive them in real life, so take that for what you will) but the graphics, audio, car selection, gravel, dirt and snow physics are all far superior to this game, even though DR2 came out almost 4 years ago
