im planning on building one kind of like this but my only concern is the pulley In the last fight I saw almost every robot with a horizontal spinner lost because their weapon broke specifically the pulley broke any tips so I can avoid this problem maybe a metal chain could work? w
@opmechatronics69202 ай бұрын
Good luck building your robot! You could try to add some kind of protection to the pulley that is attached to the frame or maybe use 2 belts. I don't think a metal chain will work for the speeds you want to spinn your weapon.

I have been fighting horizontals since 2018. The only weak point I see is weapon attachment to the pulley. The heat inserts will rip out very quickly in combat. Especially from a vertical spinner hit. I bolt all the way through the pulley wit a T-Nut on the other side. If your main pulley is printed you need at least 6 layers on the walls or the center of the pulley will explode after vertical hits. Beautiful design and I look forward to seeing the battles! Good Luck!

Agreed, this was the first thing I picked up on as well, heat set inserts just aren't good for strength and through bolting is way superior

Nice build! Thanks for sharing. Could you share the component list? Like the on/off switch, wheel motors, blade motor, ESC:s and other ICs. What is the advantage of having a belt drive instead of direct drive of the blade? I noticed that the belt dislocated in battle bot SM. I guess that makes the motor's powercables less exposed and allows gearing.

this is so cool! is there a way you can modularize your PD/all-in-one? isolating failures is a major component to why people run separate ESCs and receivers
@opmechatronics6920 Жыл бұрын
The idea with the robot controller was that if you have an electric failure then you just need to replace one component, plus it's compact with less wires.

Looks like a nice robot! Do you find the motor encoders make it easier to control? Which microcontroller are you using? I don't recognise it.
@opmechatronics69202 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I added motor encoders to implement automatic functions for example the flipper on top of the robot. In this case they didn't effect the control of the wheels. The microcontroller I use is a Arduino Nano 33 IoT.
