I think MK unconsciously sees Wukong as his father and cares about him as if he were his own life, but he may not be able to accept it because he has never had a family all this time and partly because he is his mentor. By the way, I noticed something, even when Azure was attacking Wukong's scroll with his sword, Wukong protected MK because if MK had not had the scroll in front of him at that time, MK would have been seriously injured. I'm seriously watching this series just because of these two.

Dude honestly MK's existence is kinda sad.He's created to be a tool,a means to an end by something greater beyond his understanding and doesn't even have a proper family.He doesn't even get to call the guy who took him in & took care of him his father.Like we even got this thing of MK thinking he's replaceable by some robot.Then there's the thing you mentioned about Wukong.And in this series,his trust in mentor/parental figures has been broke TWICE.The second one,obviously Azure Lion posing himself as his uncle.While with Macaque...he was betrayed thrice.First he posed as someone who gave hope to him to actually train him better than Wukong,second as the storyteller who seem to give him cautionary tales (when he's basically projecting & messing with his feelings) and third by pretending to be Wukong that resulted in him venting all of his heart's content to someone who's about to attack him.Several episodes later,he got terrorised by an incorporeal demon that gets inside his head. Like bruh.No wonder he feels all alone.And sometimes I wonder if he's like,seeking approval from people that he think can be a parental figure.
