No joke. The Volo battle is one of the SICKEST Final bosses in Pokémon. Having a Cyntha-like team, then a battle against Giratina in it's regular form and then it's origin form straight after. You essentially battle against EIGHT Pokémon in a single fight.

Not only is it a slap in the face that Volo is evil, but the fact that his battle is the hardest trainer battle in all of pokemon makes it even scarier to go against him

My first playthrough of the game? ... ... ... Kamado's betrayal didn't surprise me. Volo showing his true colors didn't surprise me. Giratina appearing to battle and then going into its Origin Forme, made perfect sense when I thought about it. ...but THIS?! I never saw THIS coming.
