Judy was 'made' to be a sad soul by her abusers in Hollywood...and after they broke her down...she was considered 'damaged goods',,very sad story of her life and yet she 'still' made people happy with her music...

One of my favorite movies. I loved this number and use to dress up as a 10 yr old and perform this song in my aunts 3 way vanity mirror in my grandmothers fancy dressing gown. Love the cover of this musical album…still play it now and then! Doris was a classic Hollywood star and the best vocalist.

I understand that this movie was originally written with Marilyn Monroe to play the lead, but she died before it could be made. Same thing with Breakfast at Tiffanys

Edith was ahead of her time. Those gowns were amazing and what’s sad is that glamor is completely missing from the Oscars, Emmys etc. Don’t even get me started on the Soul Train Music Awards. Either we have people who are under dressed, or overly adorned to point where it’s silly. That sheer undergarment look is so played out that it looks bad, even if the intention were good. And for you busty women we get it, but trying to squeeze into a dress that’s so tight that all you see are your breasts then it’s too tight. The correct fit is the goal, not the fact that you have large breasts. Compliment your assets without us knowing what they are. Men some of you miss the mark by not taking what you’re wearing seriously, knowing the event where you’re going can help you choose something that makes you look like you knew the assignment, and not like you’re just dropping someone off. All i’am saying is that fashion changes all the time but the basic principle is to wear something that makes you look put together without having to try too hard.

This is one of my favorite movies and then they did this in the middle of the movie . I think she was really happy being Mrs. Anderson. But she was simply gorgeous in these costumes. Edith Head was a Genius in designing.

MGM struggled utilizing Cinemascope to its best advantage. It's a gorgeous number, but the camera can't zoom or move. As a result, the screen has a lot of "wasted space" to the far left and right. It's a similar problem with Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron in their Daddy Long Legs dance numbers. Watching a musical from one static angle is not unlike watching a play filmed from a seat in the third row.
