@@Guiltless765 This is from the Judy Garland show. It's an easy song to sing and there's no dancing or need to move away from a mike. It seems the audio and video here are a fraction of a second off, giving the impression Diahann is lip-synching it, but I think she isn't.

Diahann Carroll: Born July 17, 1935 - Died October 4, 2019 at the age of 84 (Cancer). She was an American actress, singer and model. She rose to stardom in performances in some of the earliest major studio films to feature black casts, including Carmen Jones in 1954 and Porgy and Bess in 1959. In 1962, Carroll won a Tony Award for best actress, a first for a black woman, for her role in the Broadway musical No Strings. Her 1968 debut in Julia, the first series on American television to star a black woman in a nonstereotypical role, was a milestone both in her career and the medium. In the 1980s she played the role of a mixed-race diva in the primetime soap opera Dynasty. Carroll was the recipient of numerous stage and screen nominations and awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress In A Television Series in 1968. She received an Academy Award for Best Actress nomination for the 1974 film Claudine.

The entertainment industry was never generous with her.. During her height "youth" in the 1950's-1960's. She may have had trouble being cast in vehicle's that given many "white" actress/vocalist more exposure. Miss Carroll has spoken about how a society matron in NYC..publicly shunned her. That she wasn't welcomed to sing at her extravagant "Estate" because she had never been hosted a "negro" female before. The 1930's-1960's was a HORRIBLE time for women of color ..The USA was racial SEGREGATED compared to what it is today in May 2018. I enjoy watching her on the screen...Simply "Royalty"... as well as Lena Horne,Ella Fitzgerald were when they lived..

Just by sheer luck, I was seated at the bar of Villa Florence San Francisco on Union Square about 6:00 PM, when I saw Diahann Carroll walk through the lobby! She looked right at me! I wanted to look back, instead I watched from the huge ornate Italian Mirror (reflection). She walked with an elegance and grace that was a sight to behold, and she starred at me directly! Her stares made me feel like Vic Damone!( Her husband at the time).😍

She's modelling her performance on early Streisand. Nothing wrong with that. She was a terrific singer, but everything here was exactly what Streisand was doing at the time. And you can see it. It's such a pity that they never made film of No Strings with her in it. It's odd that she got the most attention in a television series where she didn't sing. Go figure. She was terrific.
