such high expectations - and such an incomprehensible result))) and why is there a rolled-up cylinder in the center?

U could install an over pressure valve in combination with an expansion barrel to be able to pressurise. I’m looking to combine multiple systems including floor heating which will need a bit of pressure. Thoughts?

The exit needs to be minimum 70 degrees Celsius cause of draft and buildup of the bad stuff on the inside of your pipes

I have a 3L water kettle. 60 minutes / 10 = 6 minutes. That''s a big water kettle 🙂 Maybe line it with mud from the inside (chamber and riser). Close the top with a cooking plate. Add a long, well insulated and thin chimney pipe at the bottom. Place a refactory brink in front of the exit. And give it a handle to control it as a damper.

Hello from Greece. Is this machine capable to do cold welding? Thank you in advance.

It has a spot welding function which would be very similar. I haven't tested this feature yet, maybe I should go and do that.

Instead of insulation, Add pipes for future water heat exchange and fill the empty space with sand and it'll be a sand battery. inner walls should be insulated for better heat retention.

Sorry not off the top of my head. It's been a while since I've used that machine and I've since discovered it's very sensitive to the type of gasless wire you use. The stuff that comes with it has worked the best and I'm yet to find a replacement wire that runs as well.

This is one of the worst companies I ever dealt with. They had a special offer for black friday: the machine, gloves, 10 electrodes and a set of some 70 torch parts. I like the price so I ordered it (and paid for it of course). About a week ago I received a box containing the machineand the standard parts. I asked them what happend, I ordered the black friday offer containing all those things I mentioned. Their excuse was that they did not have the rest of the stuff in stock. In other words, if you don’t have what the customer orders in stock, then just send anything without asking the customer. The guy told me they only have the gloves and the pedal in the germany branch and asked me if I want them to send me the pedal and the gloves amd refund me for the rest of the stuff. After I thought about it for a while I asked him if they can send me the gloves and the pedal and send me the rest when they have them in stock, as I really wanted them. The guy said that would be great and if I wait for them like that they will give me a gift as well. We agreed. Today I got a package from them containing only the gloves, no pedal. As my dad said, that is their gift. :)) In conclusion, I dont know what will happen now, but I hope the machine will work well so I dont have to deal with these retards.

The insulation as opposed to the sand really depends what you can use the excess heat for.

I have been in the boiler business for over 40yrs here in the US and the higher stack temperature is needed to facilitate a good draft. Ideally a lower stack temperature is efficient when using a power burner running on oil or gas. As a stand alone atmospheric wood boiler this is a great system and the sand as a thermal battery is good idea.

Still can't understand why you do not want to use a pump. Think a 25 Watt / 12v aquarium pump would make a huge difference. The water just has to move a little bit. Also thicker pipe will give you less surface area compared to the volume of water. As long it runs on a normal car battery for a couple of days you will be fine.

Any flame that comes out of the top is wasted fuel. It stops combustion and turns to carbon black on the pan, making the chimney tall enough to keep the flame below the top is the right way to make it.

So it works on a principle called thermo siphoning. Hot water will naturally rise to the top of a container, a phenomena known as stratification. Once everything heats up the siphoning effect does weaken but at that point your water is hot so it's all good.

You could add a thermostatic valve with a (high temperature) feeler on the pipe going to the stove, a bit like what the electric thermostat does but with essential difference that it is entirely mechanical based. Just set it to 80 degrees centigrade and it will close off the "cold" water supply, which should prevent the circulation. Just a waste of the heat of the rocket stove of course, not entirely different from what you have now, but with safety built-in.
@LittleAussieRockets19 күн бұрын
That's not a bad idea. Cheers

Yes sand holds thermal heat ridiculously long. It’s great, also look up Dakota Style fires. Your wood feed looks almost like it. If you were to modify it a tad bit more, the water heater would heat up in half the time.
@LimitedGunnerGM27 күн бұрын
13:32 I made a traditional rocket heater that recycled the exhaust back down and around the burn chamber then out. This created a problem: it pulled too much heat out and then condensation. I needed the extra heat to maintain the draft. It always made a puddle at the junction between the rocket heater and the chimney. You are spot on about the extra heat needed on the exhaust.
@LimitedGunnerGM27 күн бұрын
30:24 have you tried elevating the reservoir and having the hot side circulate in at the bottom and out at the top. This may create a thermosiphon and keep the water constantly circulating. Thus preventing the “steam lock”.

I think you use wrong piping - for gravity assisted warming pipes should be sized 1" or more (I use 1.25" fittings) - this would let you go back to bigger heat exchanger without generating steam. This would lead to less wood usage and maybe even shorten tank heating up.
